RE: location
No, mine not directed at you particularly Kristi---there have been quite a lot of postings recently that didn't mention location, some of which I've replied to but none of which I've had a response from, presumably because none were near Chicago...I don't know why I didn't think to mention it before Karolyn did! It is definitely helpful to know where kitty is located. Actually while we're on the subject (hey, you got the ball rolling now Kristi!) can someone clue me in as to how the wonderful transportation system that so many angels on this list participate in, works. I *may* be able to take an FeLV kitty soon but I have no idea how to begin the process of transporting him/her across the country. What are the options, if any? (I don't have a U.S. driver's license much less a car :() I believe the recent airlift of the 13 NJ kitties (who arrived safely in IN last weekend by the way!!) is highly unusual. Anyway, just wanted to put it out there. Any info welcome. Hi Hideyo, Keep giving your baby the formula and make sure you stimuate him to pee and poop afterward. The rubber tip is soft enough that it shouldn't scratch up his innards, so all you can do right now is help him to eliminate it. Athena, my little blind kitty did the same thing, although she was about 7 weeks old, and she was fine. Grace update
I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the list. Just to many things on my plate. I feel like no matter how early I get up, or how late I go to bed, I still can't get done what needs to be done. Looking at the state of my house, you'd assume I was sitting on my butt eating bon bons and watching TV. Grace's vet visit yesterday went really well, at least as far as the trauma involved. She was such a good girl! My Internist gave her a thorough physical exam, and except for the fact that she's lost 2 lbs and her eyes were unevenly dilated, she said she looks really good, (her breathing is fine, no swollen lymph nodes, etc.). She couldn't tell if Grace still has a heart murmur, because she was purring too loud to hear her heart properly! What an angel my Gracie is. The Internist said we could do blood work, but unless there's a problem with one of her organs, which neither one of us thinks there is, it wouldn't show anything conclusive. She suggested putting her on Baytril, sent me home with subq fluids, (even though she's not dehydrated), and Dex shots, (just in case). She also gave me some samples of novel protein dry foods for Grace to try, (she's not eating and she's always liked dry food, so what the heck). I'm trying to finish up the questionnaire from the holistic practitioner, so we can get started on that. Grace did eat a bit last night and seems to have a renewed desire to fight. I feel more hopeful this morning. I just gave her her first dose of Baytril, syringed some babyfood, colostrum and Nutrical down her, (not enough, the darn syringe stuck and I put too much pressure on it so it exploded food all over my hand), and put some transdermal Cypro on her ear. I think her belly is bothering her, so I may try a 1/4 Pepcid later. Love and prayers to all those in trouble, and those of you who aren't as well! Nina

RE: OT: Help - a 5 wk old kitten swallowed a tip of the nipple inthebottle..
No, I never really saw it come out, but I wasn't mashing up her poops to see if it was there either (she had already been using the litter box). Your baby may be off his feed for a day or 2 - just keep feeding him (even if it's smaller but more frequent feedings). Keep an eye on his belly - if it looks like its getting bloated, then take him back to the vet. Sending soothing tummy thoughts to him, and calming hugs to you. RE: location
Kerry, I do a lot of animal transport. The way it works with us is that a volunteer drives approximately 60 miles, more or less if they desire. At that point, we hand off the animal to the next volunteer. For cats, we crate them and send a litter box. For dogs, we allow for potty breaks. Most of the transport coordinators have volunteers along the desired route that agree to help out. I tend to go between NY, OH, KY, PA, etc. so most of my volunteers are in those areas. It is really cool how it all works. --- MacKenzie, Kerry N. RE: OT: Help - a 5 wk old kitten swallowed a tip of the nipple inthebottle..
Ok.. his belly looks already full when I checked him this afternoon - they told me that I need to watch for a sign of vomiting... Thank you, Kat, Ceaser, I and Jasmine (Ceaers's real mom) really appreciate your thoughts!!! I hope to have a better news tomorrow!!! Hi, Kat, it's nice to hear from you!! She did, too??? How much did she swallow? Did you see it coming out as a poop? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kat Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 11:50 AM To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Subject: Re: OT: Help - a 5 wk old kitten swallowed a tip of the nipple in thebottle..
