Kittypoo
My cat I rescued turned out to have this disease. She has done just great for several years. She got out, and was gone for 6 weeks. she came back but I can tell it was stressful for her. She is having strange almost seizure like episodes when she is asleep. I have seen her head kind of jerk in the past, but this is her feet and head and eyes and she hisses. I didn't realize there was anything I could do to help her. Please advise about food and anything else I should be doing. The messages are so many and it's hard to find out what I should start doing. I'm sure her immune system needs to be helped. She is a feral cat, but she lets me pick her up since she returned. I think she knows she is sick. Lohna
Re: Kittypoo
Hi Lohna, I haven't personally dealt with seizures, but there are many people on this list who have and will be able to give you some advice. The list is usually slow on weekends, so if no one gets back to you today they certainly will tomorrow. tonya --- Lohna Esteb [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: My cat I rescued turned out to have this disease. Re: Kittypoo
Lohna, I'm no expert but, I have had cats that sometimes twitch all over and growl in their sleep and I just figured they were dreaming. Have you tried waking her up and , if so, does the seizure stop? If there is no physical cause for this and it is just from the stress of having been out there, you might try getting some Bach Flower remedy call Rescue Remedy (available at many health food stores) and put a few drops in her water. Taking it directly is unpleasant for cats as it is alcohol based. Welcome, Laura we all hope Ziggy livesa long healthy life.Laura Bond [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: hi! my name is Laura and I am a new subscriber to this list and this is my first submission. I just wanted to tell you about my cat Ziggy. I rescued him from a chicken coop where he had no food, water, or litter. He adjusted well and when he was neutered, the vet told me he had Feline Leukemia. That vet was basically uninterested in treatment and told me "he'll die in 6 months to 2 year, just make him comfortable", with that curt reponse, i decided to get a second opinion. I took him to Falls Road Veterinary Hospital in Baltimore Md. This is where world famous vet Dr. Kim Hammond (on the radio, and T.V., also helps out with animal rights on movie sets" calls home. I met with Dr. Huggins, and we discussed Interferon, which is what many people diagnosed with HIV or AIDs take. This medicine encourages kitty's white blood cells to keep him healthy. I thought the treatment would be expensive but it only cost me 30$ for a 2 month supply (not bad)!. Ziggy is adjusting well and LOVES his medicine, which the doctor flavored with tuna. He is doing well and hopefully will live a long, full life. To everyone out there keep your hopes up and get a second opinion! It's the best thing I could have done. Re: Kittypoo
Does it only happen when she sleeps? If that is the case she might be having nightmares about her ordeal, my dog has those frequently, I wake him gently and pet him to let him know he is ok now. I have had good success with the animal communicator www.katberard.com [EMAIL PROTECTED]she might be able to help you and Kittypoo. We're back! Physically, anyway, mentally, I'm still having a hard time recovering from the nightmare of the evacuation! :( It took us over 55 hours to get from Houston to Little Rock!! Our evacuation route was bumper to bumper for about 50 of those hours...we spent a couple of nights on the side of the road and, I'm not sure if it made the local news in areas other than Texas, but we were one of those thousands of people stranded on the side of the road because we ran out of gas! Thanks to a good samaritan, we were able to make our way to Little Rock on Saturday staying just ahead of the hurricane the entire way! We literally could only sleep for an hour or so Friday night (we were still in Texas at this point with no room at any hotel or shelter until we got into Arkansas) because as the hurricane approached, it brought tornados. But we finally made it to Arkansas early Saturday with animals in tow...Everyone did great despite having to be confined to a car for two days! Little Rock was wonderful, everyone was very kind and helpful...we even managed to make it to the river front area the day before we returned to Texas for a much needed beer (or two) at an English pub called The Underground. :) Anyhoo, unfortunately, I had to take Ewok to his oncologist appointment this morning...more car trauma!! The poor guy, just got out of the damn car and here I am sticking him back in it for a half-hour car ride to his doctor's appointment! We're all very much looking forward to this weekend! We dodged a bullet and only lost a few tree limbs in the storm (only 1/4 of rain!!)...it's sad to think that we would have been safer staying in our own home during the storm!! Hope this all makes sense! My brain is still all over the place (I'm absolutely exhausted)...thank you all for your positive thoughts...I have yet to read though the list email, but I know there have been a couple of losses (Julie and Nina??)...I believe I saw something about Grace... :( Take care, all... Hi Kerry, Yes, she's doing MUCH better. She did vomit again in the middle of the night, but it was a hairball. She is sleeping at the moment. I haven't gotten the labs back yet, but when I do I will post them so that you guys can comment. :) With a few of the places we had to spend the night in our cars, I'm actually suprised we didn't get shot at... :) ...I'm trying to think of a good English colloquialism for avoided catastrophe ie. dodged a bullet, but can't think of one off-hand...do the Brits have an expression for barely avoided disaster?
