my first sign from Allie
Well, Allie has already shown me her presence and that she is watching over me. When doing laundry today I was emptying out my husband's pants pockets as always and found a tiny scrap of paper. I sent it aside to throw away along with everything else. When I looked at it again a few hours later I noticed it was shaped like a cat's head and was orange!!! I asked my husband about it- where he got it, why it was in his pocket, etc., and he had no memory of it. I couldn't help but think Allie sent me that tiny scrap of paper to let me know she's OK and that's she with me. Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min. Make PC-to-Phone Calls using Yahoo! Re: OT - kitten dosage of advantage?
This is going to sound kind of gross, so stop reading now if you're squeamish . . .If you're worried about the kittens being too young fron Advantage, but they have fleas, you might try to just kill the feals manually. If the cat is light-colored, they're much easier to see. Get a cheap pair of tweezers (not the same ones you use on your brows--eww) and crush the fleas between them. They like to hide on the face, especially. This is not exactly a very effective method of flea control, but it would help until the kitten gets a few weeks older and you feel safer about using Advantage. Yes, it is time-consuming, and it is not for the squeamish, but it could buy you a couple weeks. (I'd also BOLO for tapeworms. Where there are fleas, there are likely to be tapeworms.)And, no, Bella does not now have nor has she ever had fleas (since she's always inside and I keep her on Frontline as a preventive measure), but when I was growing up, my best friend's cat had a litter of kittens 1-2 times per year, and since the mama cat was indoor/outdoor, she brought fleas to the kittens.(This was before Bob Barker began urging folks to spay and neuter their pets.) Katherine and I used to pick fleas off the kittens. (We tried just picking them off at first and drowning them, but those vermin would not die, so we got the tweezer idea. It's amazing the stuff a 10-year-old can dream up. It worked, though.)~Ashleigh[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thanks, Karen - what about kittens that are 8-10 weeks?GloriaAt 11:12 PM 5/17/2006, you wrote:what age Gloria my vet said nothing under 8 weeks.Karen Feel free to call! Sylvia Browne would say it's from Allie, that's for sure. Re: OT:frustrated w throw away Pets
try doing a search for yahoo groups about animal rescue and welfare in your area. I'm on a lot and there are many times people post looking for animal friendly housing and get good responses. Good luck. Things can change through no fault of our own. I have been thinking of taking in a new positive, but I am leery for these same kinds of reasons.twendy [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Karen,Would you consider moving out into the country, whereno one can tell you what the heck to do with youranimals or how many to have? We've had this discussion here about howcities have limits on pets, and some of us have hadreal problems with it. My city's limit is 4 animals, but no more than 3 of any one type. Well, we have 5cats that live in our garage/outside and four catsthat live inside, and then two dogs. So far we havebeen lucky. I don't think most people in the cityknow about the limit as they don't publish it. Ormaybe they do, but enjoy not having any mice aroundthe neighborhood. lol. But my husband and I areworking financially to be able to afford a place outin the country. He wants lots of dogs and I want tobe able to help out stray kitties, and neither of uswants to answer to any homeowner's association or citygov't. I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you'rehaving. OT - Flower Essences
Hi gang, Gosh everyone's been quiet lately! A little while back we were discussing RR and I mentioned that I'd heard of something similar called Emergency Essence. They're made by a company called Australian Bush Flower Essences. I just ordered it and another one called Relationship from Earth Spirits, http://www.earthspirits-herbals.com/ a distributor for them in, I think it's in MA. If you decide to give the FEs a try, don't order from ABFE! They charge $12.50 a bottle, (ES charges $11), but the kicker was they wanted $55. for shipping! Does anyone just click and pay that?? They also had the FE in cream form and mist spray. I'll let you know if the EE and Relationship works better than RR with helping ferals/newcomers to my household. Nina
Fwd: OT: sedative before flying (ACE)
too late for gloria, but thought i'd share anywhere--this is from a flight attendant who regularly transports/sets up transports with flight attendants to fly critters all over (and yes, pam, you know who this is from!) I had used Ace before when flying animals but only bec they were ferals.Rescue remedy will do just fine.If they are flying cargo I will NOT recomend any type of sedative only rescue remedy if needed. With ace the altitute can affecta cat big time! Also I will not use !/2 of a pill that is too much 1/4 it will be sufficient.Animals need to be alert when traveling in case there is an emergency. -- MaryChristineAIM / YAHOO: TenHouseCatsMSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED]ICQ: 289856892

Re: l-lysine for kittens
You can safely do 100-150 mg daily. L-lysine is water soluable so if oyu overdo it they will just pee it out. Adult cats over 8 pounds can get 250-500 mg doses.janine paton [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Anyone know the dose of lysine to give to kittens? They are 4 months, a little thin. Thanks, Janine
