RE: add to the candlelight service - Sassy and Valentino
Gloria, I'm so sorry to hear the sad stories of Sassy and Valentino. It's hard enough letting go of beloved foster cats, and then to hear that things have gone tragically wrong, and, as you say, *unnecessarily*, is just devastating. I really am so sorry---please know you're in my thoughts. Sassy - One died about a week ago, Sassy - she was a beautiful golden Persian, about 10 years old, delightful cat. Long story short - apparently Sassy got sick, and her owner also was ill and became wheelchair bound, and nobody noticed that Sassy was sick. Valentino - The other was also an awesome cat - Valentino - a medium long hair black and white, a young boy, wonderful personality. His people accommodated his desire to go out- they let him out and of course he got run over. This happened a while back - 2006 probably - but the family had moved and I just started wondering, located them and found out. It's so sad to lose cats like this, so unnecessarily. RE: Zeus Please add to the CLS :(
I'm so sorry to hear about Zeus, Sherry. Yes, given he's been there all the time you've been volunteering, he will surely be missed hugely. Let's hope wherever he is now, he's still able to enjoy his baby food! hugs, Kerry From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sherry DeHaan Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2008 8:24 PM To: Felvtalk Subject: Zeus Please add to the CLS :( Well this was a bit of a shock for us. I'm sorry for your loss. I love the name by the way. It takes special people to take in more leukemia cats when you know what you might be in for. I hope your new baby lives a long and healthy life. tonya Tracy Weese [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: She is lovely! I, too, just lost a cat (although not a FeLV+), but a cat I had for 13 years and for the last two years, he was going through chemo for intestinal cancer. But prior to his passing, I agreed to take a cat that tested positive for FeLV and needed a home (I have had many FeLV+ cats, lost 3 last year to the disease). I was unsure about following through with taking the new cat when Puddin'taine died even though I knew it was coming. I went ahead and took the other cat and am so glad I did. He has really blossomed and made himself at home--even helping to fill the void left behind. I mention this because I know that Snowball will do the same for you and Bob. Every time I read where someone's pet has died and they say they can't go through that again and they decide no more pets I think how sad. I know it's tempting, having lost so many (since I typically rescue FeLV+ cats, that is unavoidable) and it never gets easier, but sometimes sooner or sometimes later, another furry soul comes along and needs you (and you need him/her). Here's wishing that you and Snowball have many many days together. Tracy
