Re: Balance of puddy cats
I agree that you should call. Something is calling you to this boy and I agree that the trip to Iowa would be way too much stress on him! You would never had thought twice had it not been meant for you to get him. Debi H. I understand being tired and wondering if you can do it (again) but something is pulling you to this cat. - Original Message - From: Sally Davis To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Sent: Sunday, March 30, 2008 5:52 PM Subject: Re: Balance of puddy cats ~ new cat? I am really on the fence about this. On one hand I would like to think fate is intervening. A felk near me. He was just neutered 1.5 yo needs a home. May have a home in IOWA I am in VA. The person in IA cannot take until May but deals with FELV cats. I have not talked to the owner or I should say caretaker she is not able to keep the cat until then. Right now the cat is still at the Vet clinic. i have only spoken with a siamese rescue person who got involved bc it is siamese. They cannot house due to teh felk. I had a part Siamese cat 4 years ago and will always miss the funny boy named Puttyrat See my email addy. I am just too tired to talk to this lady today. I had a root canal started Friday and my mouth still hurts. Hard to be upbeat when I am in pain. I think the cats will be taken care of, but I kinda would like the Siamese boy. Sally - Like movies? re Foxy/ bad news
We took our kitten Foxy to the vet and she only has about 24-48 hours to live. The leukemia has taken over and her blood count is very very low. We are heart sick but want to do what is best for her and I dont want to prolong her suffering. The vet said we have done a good job keeping her healthy. They gave her a water shot for deydration and a perscription for oxygen. I have never had any experience with this and would like to know other members thoughts on this. Should we get the oxygen for her? They said she would probably not survive a blood transfusion. Any advice would be appreciated. kathy - No Cost - Get a month of Blockbuster Total Access now. Re: re Foxy/ bad news
I don'tknow, I would think that oxygen would be a very kind thing to provide, if they think she needs it. I used to have a cat carrier that was converted into an oxygen carrier, but have since passed it onto someone else. I got it for my Calawalla Banana who died before I could get the oxygen. I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet Foxy. It's so hard. May she have a gentle, loving trip to the bridge. Re: re Foxy/ bad news
Kathy, I'm so very sorry for you. Knowing what I know now, rather than let her suffer or have to struggle to breathe, I would take the most humane approach and have the vet give her a sedative via catheter and euthanize. I'm sorry to sound hopeless, but we know that at this stage hope just doesn't work. If they have given her only 24 to 48 hours and her blood count is very low, there is really nothing that can reverse this. I didn't make it to the transfusion either with our little guy. He was dehydrated and I was finally made to realize that his time had come to go. I really am so so sorry for what you are going through. It's just so painful. Re: re Foxy/ bad news
Hi Kathy It is so hard when it gets to this point. This is exactly where I was with Junior two weeks ago. His breathing was very labored. We knew he had a heart mumur. He lived a little over a year and a half of his diagnosis. I could tell he was miserable even at the vets office after she had given a sedative. It was not working because his heart was not pumping the blood. I called her back into the room . It was still difficult. I knew I did the right thing. I even have oxygen at home for my boyfriend who has COPD. For me there was no point in prolonging his misery. Only you know if your cat is suffering. Remember cats are good at hiding there symptoms. Best of luck for you and your kitten. You have ben a good mommy. My prayers are with you.
