yes, the denasyl is what I used. it was the cholangiohepatitis. tonya[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hideyo, I have not been following the responses to your posts (am in the process of moving and do not have the time or energy). But it is the same thing as SAMe, which you can get at the health food store. It can probably be given with milk thistle. 2. Liver so compromised can be from lymphoma, like with Simon, or from cholangiohepatitis, which is treatable with antibiotics, or from hepatic lipidosis, which requires a feeding tube. A biopsy is necessary to tell. You probably already know this, and maybe already got the biopsy-- again, I didn't read the whole thread so don't know. Lymphoma would be the worst case scenario, but Simon's bilirubin came down to almost normal with steroids and chemo (he died two months later from anemia). Michelle

Hi, Belinda, I just talked to my vet - He did not think he has Fatty Liver disease, since they usually don't eat - and thank god, George eats - he might have hepatitis - but the only way to make sure of it, he said, is to go through biopsy, which I refused to do on him right now. I guess regardless with the cause, I understand that there isn't really anything that the traditional medicine can offer to cure the problem, you just have to do everything you can with an environment, supplements, and diet so that he will be able to detoxify with his liver - he did suggest B-12 shots (which I gave him yesterday) and supplement called s-Adenosyl (supposed to heal liver - do you know anything about this? Please pray that his liver will only get better - I only to provide him a good life for a long time.. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Belinda Sauro Sent: Wednesday, June 22, 2005 10:37 AM To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Subject: Re: My sweet brave baby - George: FIV and a liver problem Hideyo, What did the vet say was the reason for George's liver problem, is it Fatty Liver disease, cholangial hepititis, or something else?? Yes the liver can heal itself but if George is really jaundice and yellow you want to be very careful, this can be fatal (very quickly). You need to know why his liver is in the shape it is, it could be any number of things including cancer, I don't understand why your vet didn't give the cause, you can't treat if you don't know what is causing the problem?? -- Belinda Happiness is being owned by cats ... Re: My sweet brave baby - George: FIV and a liver problem
Pretty much sums up what I was going to ask. What did the vet say about what might be causing the liver problem? Didn't he have any ideas?? I'm very pleased that George is trusting you! What a smart, sweet boy he is! Sending lots of healing vibes that he recovers from whatever is causing his problems. Could it be from lack of food? Hang in there girl. I'm so grateful that he's safe with you in your sanctuary. Don't let yourself get consumed by worry, you've found your way to each other, that's a miracle in itself.
