My father played in the Seattle Philharmonic (the community

I saw something very similar in the two seasons I worked for Disney.
There was plenty of in-fighting and controversy at the

RE: [Finale] De-authorising Finale

2010-12-30 Thread Phillips, Justin
Hi J D,

Sorry to hear you are having some issues with Finale 2007 and OS X 10.6.
Finale 2007 does have some major compatibility issues running on 10.5 and 10.6
due to changes Apple made in OS X from 10.4 to 10.5/10.6, which Finale 2007 was
not designed for since OS X 10.5 was released about a year after Finale 2007
was.

We added 10.5 support with Finale 2008 and 10.6 support with Finale 2010.
Unfortunately authorization issues are a common for people trying to get Finale
2007 to run on OS X 10.5 and 10.6. Some users encounter worse situations than
others. To avoid these issues, I would suggest running a version of Finale that
is supported and designed for your OS. I know it can be frustrating to upgrade
your OS and discover older programs that are not supported in the environment.

Our technical support department will certainly reset any authorizations if
needed so you can try again, but unfortunately we cannot force the software to
work in an environment it was not designed to run in.

Finale 2007 will NOT allow the user (me) to authorize, deauthorize, install, or
even run the POS application under Snow Leopard. Every time I try to launch
the program, I get a dialog stating I need to authorize my copy, saving and
printing are disable until I do so. Same computer, different hard drive, newer
OS. I talked with a woman at MM (don't remember her name) and that was the
gist of the conversation.

Another stake in the heart of my relationship with MM and Finale.

2010-12-30 Thread Darcy James Argue
I am running Finale 2004-2011 (including Finale 2007) on Snow Leopard without
any problems. Your experience is not the norm.

If you cal them, MakeMusic can easily deauthorize all versions of Finale 2007
associated with your serial #, which -- if everything else is working correctly
-- ought to allow you to re-authorize via the internet on your current machine.

It would appear that whoever you spoke to at MakeMusic gave you bad information.

Re: [Finale] Re: [Olist] Judge throws out Louisville Orchestra Board's Chapter 11 request, says 'honor the contract'

I'm not sure I understood all the issues, but it seemed to me like
the orchestra is threatening liquidation (chapter 7) as a response?
What is the LO Foundation's purpose if not to feed money to the
orchestra?

There seems to be a lot going on that wasn't in the cited articles.

Seems to me it would be better if arts organizations had a majority
of artists instead of business people, as this whole thing smells
like a scenario where the business types are dominating the decision
making.

Terrible, terrible situation, and particularly tragic given the near-
heroic history of this particular orchestra.

[Finale] De-authorising Finale

2010-12-30 Thread David McKay
I've purchased a new computer and need to de-authorise finale on the old
one.

If I simply open the program the normal way, it sends me away with a tick in
my ear and sends I must "run as administrator" if I wish to de-authorise.

However, if I attempt to do this by clicking on the icon on the desktop,
nothing happens.

If I go to the program file in its folder and click "Run as administrator"
the program begins to load but hangs.

I think I figured out a solution previously, but I've forgotten what it was!

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Does this work with earlier version of Finale - I have WinFin2006.

Yes, this one should work with Finale2005a and above.

One limitation, though: Please note that expressions would not be
treated as flexible as in the demo video when you use it on Finale 2006.
The old kind of note expressions would be erased when you copy a pattern.
