Re: [Finale] 2k8 file conversion from 2K7
I think I get it now. The Bill Duncan fonts - for which I hadn't thought to install the FAN files into 2k8, push other objects out of the way when the FAN files are absent, so it looks as if normal objects are also messed up when, in fact, only the non-Finale fonts are the culprits. So take Darcy's advice, if the problem appears, and copy all "foreign" FAN files into the new version's Font Annotation folder, and it should clear up. Re: [Finale] 2k8 file conversion from 2K7
Hi Darcy, This affects Maestro expressions too, so I don't know - but I'll do what you suggest, because it makes perfect sense for the BD fonts. BTW, I'll be in NY from the 22nd to the 28th - playing at Kitano on the 25th - with Don Friedman and Joe Hunt, and then recording with them in NJ on the 26th. I'll be staying at Dave Berger's apt on 106th and B'way, and I'll have my cell phone. Be glad to hear from you and to get together if you will have any time during those days. Re: [Finale] 2k8 file conversion from 2K7
Aha, Darcy was right. (Why am I not surprised?) I copied in FAN files for the Bill Duncan fonts, and everything fell into place. What had confused me was the fact that there were normal Maestro expressions that were also displaced. They are now appearing correctly (along with the BD fonts). Hard to wrap my head around that. Anyway, that seems to be the solution. Re: [Finale] 2k8 file conversion from 2K7
I should also add this as a reminder to anyone upgrading to Finale 2008. Don't reuse the preference files from previous versions of Finale by renaming them and putting them in the new Finale 2008 folder. I used to do this as a matter of course to save time, but the conversion from 2006 to 2007 had some weird anomalies when you did that. I can only assume that it wouldn't be good practice to reuse them anymore. -Randolph ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
