Do you mean that Print Booklet will only work if duplex printing is the default?

Well, that is the question. I haven't checked recently, but the last
time I tried the command

print booklet ?

did not work - it gives you a print dialog, but doesn't seem to print
booklets.

Does your printer need interaction with the print dialog to set up
duplex?

That's just like saying, you can save time by not programming a
macro which will, once you got to work, save you more time than the
time you would have saved.

You were not pulled up for suggesting this, only the question at
the time was "how do you do it in Finalescript" and you replied
"don't use it", which didn't answer the question. You are now doing
exactly the same again.

If John can solve the problems he is having with Finalescript, he
might be able to save a lot of time in the future. Of course, he
could instead just save the time on finding the solution, but then
he will waste a lot more time in the future.

Unfortunately I do not know the answer to John's problem. But I am sure
if it can be solved, John could save at least 10 seconds on every
booklet he will ever print in the future. Which, if he prints as many as
I do, will be a lot of life time.

Jonathan  Thanks Johannes and Dennis. I've got the page size and orientation OK, but it still prints on one side only. I have tried with the printer layout set to duplex off, and to short-edged binding. Same result both ways. John ___

First of all, when using the Booklet script, you shouldn't set
anything in the printer settings of Finale. You leave the printing
dialogue alone, but you set up your printer to use the right size
of paper and the right orientation. For instance, if my score is A4
portrait, I set my printer to A3 landscape and run the script. If
your printer can't duplex, you need to run the script in two parts,
one for the recto, one for the verso, as explained in the script
itself.

Open Finale script. If you have a duplex printer, type

print booklet

and return - off you go. If you don't have a duplex printer, first type
print booklet verso
then
print booklet recto

If your booklet has more than 16 pages you should specify ie

print booklet 24 [verso/recto]

Otherwise Finalescript will print your booklet in 16 page sub-booklets.
(This would have to be bound especially)
