As Mike Chambers stated:
We will still be shipping the ability to target the iPhone and iPad in
Flash CS5. However, we are not currently planning any additional investments
in that feature.
http://www.mikechambers.com/blog/2010/04/20/on-adobe-flash-cs5-and-iphone-applications/

All the stunning work we see today in Flash was done by designers, not by
technology.
The same beauty is possible in any platform, just because we are extremely
creative.

HTML5 is less powerfull than Flash. But it is in the right way.
We will see Tweeners and TweenLites done for canvas in no time. Flash guys
can amuse with any technology.
Just give us some time :)

at sxsw, the adobe guy giving the flash talk was getting pummelled by the
audience about flash's absence from the iShiny and his eventual response (so
i reliably informed) was 'we make tools'

i take this to mean that when the plugin has outlived it's usefulness,
they'll already be exporting to the canvas tag or whatever is the natural
successor to it. At the moment, the canvas tag can't keep up with flash in
terms of performance (and i've no idea about how it deals with
interactivity) but eventually it will - maybe then, it'll be within adobe's
best interest to roll out flash content to that instead of it's current .swf
format.

maybe someone will come up with a way of displaying .swf files within html5
(canvas or svg) like the proof of concept javascript engine that came out a
little while back

The developer would just have to work with certain parameters set by the

Then Apple and Adobe can start a playing nicely and start a whole iApp

You could go and sign up as a developer with Apple or Adobe and utilize
templates they have that allow you to use CS5 or CS6,

Adobe gets on iPhone and Apple gets to control the templates to an extent

Would this be a viable possibility? Or am I just a dreamer.. :)

Dreamer. Adobe aren't stupid enough to invest again in a solution that
Apple can ditch at a whim.

HTML 5 is s standard for describing content to be rendered in some
runtime. It is not something that can be compared to Flash at this
time. It may be compared to another specification, say the SWF format.

The combination of all browser technologies into one runtime is
something that may be compared to Flash, but comparing HTML 5 and
Flash is not applicable.

Fact remains:

There is no way today, or in the foreseeable future, to develop an
application using HTML 5, CSS, Javascript or ANY combination of these
technologies that can compare interactively or creatively to an
application developed with Adobe tools.
