Re: [Flightgear-devel] FlightGear Tracker crash

2010-05-14 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi,

it seems, not all the MP servers are connected to the tracker currently:

# sh /root/list_mpservers_connected.sh
mpserver02.flightgear.org
mpserver07.flightgear.org
mpserver09.flightgear.org
mpserver10.flightgear.org
mpserver12.flightgear.org
mpserver13.flightgear.org

Maybe some of them haven't been restarted after the crash of tracker.
Please restart them.

Thanx,
Gabor

[Flightgear-devel] FlightGear Air Show

2008-04-16 Thread Gabor Toth
Hello,

watching the FG hangar getting a lot of new aircraft, and the scenery
getting better and better, a new idea came into my mind. As in the real life
aircraft manufacturers used to exhibit their new aircraft on varoius air
shows like MAKS, Paris Air Show, etc. In FlightGear we could organize
our virtual Air Show events from time to time where A/C developers could
exhibit their new aircraft.

To inspire scenery developers too, every time a different airport could be
choosen as the place of the exhibition.

Exhibited aircraft (with informational tableau) could be placed in the
scenery statically. For every event a single tar file containing the needed
objects for the event could be released for easyier download.

Of course, various MP events could be organized parallel as well. (Acrobatic
airshow, competition, sight-seeing tours, etc..)

Please comment on my idea. If there is interest, I'll check out if I can
provide the needed functionality (downloads, event calendar) on
http://fgfs.i-net.hu

Best regards,
Gabor

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Frankfurt (EDDF) scenery SVN now available

2008-03-12 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi,

Loading the attached file into Google Earth will show you the parking
positions at EDDF. This way you can check if they are correct.

Unfortunately I do not have too much time to redo the ground network, if any
of you can do it, I'm more than pleased. :)

My idea about the performace issue is to make it scalable by the user. I
mean a slide bar or something in the AI menu. (eg. only every second, tenth
whatever AI flight to activate)

I can do if wanted- I thought that Gabor Toth (or Toth

For the AI-Traffic I noticed that I the files I did

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Frankfurt (EDDF) scenery SVN now available

2008-03-10 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi Chris,

Let me express my appreciate to your wodwerful work. As I fly very often to
EDDF (in FG and IRL as well), this airport become one of my favourites.

I have noticed only one minor issue so far with the buildings of Terminal
2DE and 1C. When you load AI traffic data and ground map for EDDF in FG you
will see airplanes parking at wrong positions (behind the buildings of
1C, in the passenger bridges of 2DE.)

This problem can come from two sources, the parking positions can be defined
wrong, or the position or scale of the buildings can be wrong. Or both. :)

When I was working on the ground map of EDDF I was using Google Earth to
measure the positions and directions (separately for every parking slot), so
I assume the parking positions are right.

What I have noticed is that it looks if the buildings were displaced to the
west by about the distance between two passenger bridges. To show this I have
created some screenshots, which I have put in the gallery on fgfs.i-net.hu.

What is your opinion? Can you check somehow if the buildings are placed at
the right position? Is it hard to move the buildings to east parallel the
longer side of Terminal2?

Thank you in advance,
Gabor

You can download it just as simple with

If you used Google Earth, I don't think the positions are wrong. The
dimensions of the buildings are correct as well (measured with Google

care about too much until now :-)

What is your opinion? Can you check somehow if the buildings are placed

That would be no big deal and is overdue. Would you please tell me how
to get these planes on there parking positions for reference.

[Flightgear-devel] Virtual Flashmob

2008-01-28 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi there,

Curt's idea of New Year's Day Funflight turned my fantasy on, and now I have
another idea. :) Let's organize a virtual flashmob. My idea is to make KSFO's
28R clean of snow by a lot of snowplows.

There would be no scoring, no race, only fun. :)

There could be an ATC online letting pilots know about 28R is closed for
cleaning due to heavy snowstorm. :) Then a dozen of snowplows turn onto the
rwy, go along as fast as possible, and leave the rwy at the other end. :)

The date could be 1600Z 02/02/2008, next Saturday.

  Anyone want to join?

Cheers,
Gabor aka KoverSrac

Hi,

the repaint is ready, avaliable at

   http://fgfs.i-net.hu/downloads/MD11.tar.bz2

I've copied the KLM related files and repainted the textures only. The 3D
model also should be changed, because it's colour is gray, but I can't do
that.

The paintwork is my own work using The Gimp. Only FedEx logo was downloaded
from the Web. I think I may publish the textures under GPL.

An updated version will follow if I found the way to make the cowling around
engine #2 look like the real livery.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Flight Tracker Bug

2006-11-29 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi,

I've checked the data stored in the tracker DB for the flight mentioned
below. It was continous, without the zig-zag. Then I've checked the algorythm
I use to reduce the number of segments displayed for the flight path. It woks
well. The bug is likely in Google's code.

Pigeon: Is there a way to send Google bug reports about Google map API?

It zigs off to around Vanuatu then flips over to Brazil at certain
 zoom levels very strange?

Looks like an obvious bug with the line (GPolyline) having the
lontitude wrapped. Considering it's drawn correctly when you zoom out,
and incorrectly when you zoom in, it *might* be a bug on google's side.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Flight Tracker Bug

2006-11-29 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi,

Thanx for the hint. I've modified the code to split polylines whenever path
crosses lon=0 or lon=180 border. Now it looks better.

Normally people simply post onto the GMAPI's discussion group.

And just when I'm searching around the group I found these:

 http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API/browse_thread/thread/5f
56b96cccbfda25/b4586520468d8751

 http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API/browse_thread/thread/92
fab1e6631af936/9e62467c226756c0

So, yup, it's a GMAPI's known bug, they might be fixing it. And the
workaround seems to suggest some fiddling is needed with the
 longitudes...

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Antonov AN-2 ready for download

2006-11-08 Thread Gabor Toth
Hi Yurik,

I can just repeat the others: Your AN-2 is fantastic, I really like it.
However I've found another small bug: I think the direction of aileron
animation is inverted.

I hope this aircraft will have a nice place assigned to in the CVS hanger
soon. :)

Gabor

 Hi Yurik,

the plane looks really great, seems to be much time in this bird.
But I have a problem. I am not able to start the engine. I put on
electric main-switch, magnetos to 1+2, fuel up, starter switch on, other
starter switch short to the left and then to right (I hold it on the
right), the propeller turns some seconds and then: silence...
Any one else with this problem?

And I found a minor bug. The help (engine start, space bar) only works
 on 1024x768.

But a big thank you for this plane. I hope I can fly it tomorrow.

 Maik

  Hi Yurik,

Thank you very much for making this available under the GPL for

The instrument textures are great... they'd look even better on 3d
  instruments ;-)

I hope that one of our data committers will add this to CVS soon, it'll
be a fantastic addition to the hangar.
