Hi Ante,

I also answered you quite shortly after your first mail. Definitely you could
get more support on the dedicated FG forum, this mailing list is more for
development stuff.

Content reposted below.

Cheers,

Hello Ante,

I would recommend you to go on the dedicated forum for support (
http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=17 ). The devel list is not
meant to deal with support issues, but with FlightGear core
development.

You also need to be more precise about the version of FG you downloaded,
the plane you are trying to use, if the base package planes work OK, and if
there are error messages in the console windows, etc.

Dear FlightGear Team,

I have recently downloaded FlightGear, and am enjoying it, but I seem not be
able to download some aircraft. Even when the program says I have
downloaded the aircraft correctly, when I go to use the aircraft, it
comes up with a small blue and yellow plane. Also, with the plane which
do successfully download, I am not able to get it in the livery which I
want, even when it says that I can get it on your website.

I use a MacBook Air laptop, and it would be greatly appreciated if you were
able to provide some help.

Thanks,

Ante

Dear FlightGear Team,

I have recently installed FlightGear v2.10.0 on a MacBook Air laptop, and am
enjoying it.

Before I go on, I must make a complaint that this is the fifth time I have sent
this exact e-mail. The first, third and fourth time I sent it, no one got back
to me, and I hadn't got an e-mail saying my message was rejected. (I do know
that I am sending this e-mail to a members-only e-mail and that I am not a
member.

The second time I sent it, Someone called William replied saying that he had to
reject the e-mail because there is a 40KB limit, and that I should take the
pictures which I used out, which I did. I replied the same e-mail to  William
without the pictures, and he never got back to me.

I am having some trouble with installing extra aircraft. All of the aircraft I
got with the FlightGear software work, but some of the aircraft which I tried
to download don't work, even when I add them to the software, a box comes up
saying it has been successfully installed.

The troubles which I am having include: The plane is there but it won't start
(717, 737NG, 757, A340, Citation X, DC-3, DC-8-73, Lockheed 1049h); A small
blue and yellow replaces the plane that should be there (747-400, A320, 767,
787, Beechcraft b1900d, ATR 72-500); a box comes up saying that FlightGear
unexpectdedly quit when I try to fly with the plane (Paper Airplane, Wright
Flyer); and random planes parts fly near the plane when I put the landing gear
up or down (A300).

Also, I'm pretty sure that I am able to download the A330 on FlightGear, but I
can't seem to find it on your website. It would be a great help if you could
tell me where I can get it.

Thanks,

Ante

How are you running the simulator? From the command line or from a launcher?

if you are running from the command-line, can you post your command-line here?

Unfortunately I don't run a Mac myself, so I may not be able to
provide very specific
help on this. You might want to post to the FlightGear forums

[Flightgear-devel] Some Help

2013-06-10 Thread Ante Cugura

Dear FlightGear Team,
I am a twelve-year-old airplane fan, and have just downloaded the FlightGear
software. I use a MacBook Air laptop, which uses the Mac OS X software.
However, I would like to download extra planes and scenery so I can have more
fun playing with the simulator. Even after following all the instructions that
it tells me on your wiki pages and on your website, nothing has provided me
with the help that I need. I am able to download the files themselves that I
want, but I am not able to drag them into any of the FlightGear software
folders, which is what I suspect needs to be able to happen in order for me to
access the scenery and aircraft when I use the simulator.
It would be much appreciated if you could provide some assisstance with my
problems using FlightGear.
Kind Regards,Ante Cugura

(I'm assuming the basics of Mac are the same as Linux.)

If you are copying the files to a system directory (basically anywhere
outside your Home directory), you'll need to use sudo in Terminal.

Alternatively (at least for the scenery), you can tell FlightGear to use
scenery that are located elsewhere in addition to the included aircraft
and scenery. To do this, when running FlightGear, for the fg-scenery
parameter, append your scenery directory with a colon. For example, you
would type fgfs --fg-scenery=base_scenery_path:your_scenery_path.
Replace base_scenery_path with the path to the base scenery, and
your_scenery_path with the path to your scenery. Note that the given
folders must have the folders Airport, Objects, and/or Terrain.

Hi !
Actually on Mac, apps are packages (a directory presented by the system as an
app).
So to access to FlightGear data, you need to right click on FlightGear app,
show package contents, and then you should be able to navigate to data folder
inside.
Best,
Jonathan.

And for the Mac, look at the flightgear launcher for 'install add on' (or
something similarly worded). Just select the thing (airplane or scenery
chunk) you want to install and it will do the right thing for you
automatically.
