RE: FM10 crashes saving book as HTML, inserts rogue word

2012-06-04 Thread Chris Despopoulos
I can't say anything about the crash.  But I can say that the inconsistencies
when saving as HTML may have to do with your book-wide HTML setup.  The first
document in the book should have two sets of HTML setup flows, one for the
document and one for the book.  Look at your ref pages in that first file --
you should see two versions of each HTML setup table.  Make sure both are in
sync.  My guess is they are not.

About the crash, I would try making a special book using your files, but with
only the first file in the book, then try that.  See if it crashes.  If it
does, then zip it up and send it to the team in India.  You would be doing us
all a favor.  If it doesn't crash, add files one-by-one until you get the
crash. Then delete files EXCEPT that culprit until it's the only one.  Still
crashes?  You might have something odd in that file -- try mif-washing it.
Othersies, zip it up and send it to India!

Cheers  cud

-Your Question-
Subject: Archive all imported files

[Resending because I *always* forget we're on an ancient listserv...]

Hi, all;

I'm wondering what ever happened to Bruce Foster's Archive tool for FM
(v8). I am hunting around Carmen Publishing, Leximation,
Techknowledgecorp's Handy FrameMaker tools page, and various other
sites; and I can not seem to find it anywhere.

We just want to open a book, click a menu item, and have it package
the BOOK file and all of the FM, graphics, and text insets into a new
folder or ZIP file, for purposes of archiving and freezing revisions
(no, we don't have a CMS--got to do it all via folder/file operations).

If Bruce's Archive isn't available anymore, what other options do we
have? Seems like FrameScript could do it (of course) but I'm not sure if
that's our simplest or most cost-effective option (i.e., we don't need
to pack a U-Haul for a weekend trip, so to speak).

Suggestions?
David

FYI: Deal for upgrading from FM7.x to FM10 ends June 15

2012-06-04 Thread Grant Hogarth
Just got this from a friend at Adobe (I'm trying to get some clients to
upgrade).

Cheapest route to go is the "Promo" which ends June 15th, which lets
you upgrade FM7.x to FM10 at 30% of what would have been normal
cost. Before this promo you could only have updated to entire tech
comm suite. (Much more expensive.) This 30% off upgrade ends FOREVER
AND EVER AND EVER on June 15th. It will never be repeated. This is
your last chance.

*Promo landing page: *http://adobe.ly/ItpxLt

*Summary of 10-part blog series on "why upgrade":*

*Blog with summary of 4 Captivate videos:* http://adobe.ly/L7qfvg

Also, any earlier versions are now orphans. (I found a still-sealed box
of FM5+SGML in the garage this weekend, so I had to ask! )
