Re: Creating a clickable link for email in a frame (to pdf) document

2013-06-15 Thread gr...@hedgewizard.net
Hello Theresa--
You can't use a variable in this case.
What you want to do is have a "word" (for example "t...@bstw.com") that has the
hypertext marker GoTO URL "mailto:t...@bstw.com"; in it.
Then you must tag the word with a character format tag (such as "link" -- you
may need to create this tag).

If it is a hypertext marker (Special > Hypertext, or Special > Marker,
hypertext type), then you need:
message URL mailto:TdeV at bstw.com
("message" should be all lower case, "URL" all caps)

This will result in a clickable link in the PDF you generate; apply a
character format if you need to also make the link visible.

Variables cannot be interactive, so this won't work when the e-email address
is stored in a variable. (A text inset -- storing the text link and marker
-- may be used instead, if you anticipate changes to the mail address)

As I recall, it works the same way as a Hypertext link to a URL basically - so
use that option and provide the exact text you show below

The computer's OS should interpret that as a request to fire up the default
e-mail client.
