Tunnelling between Cisco and Freebsd
Hi all, I am running FreeBSD 9.2. The FreeBSD server in on a private IP, 192.168.1.6. I have only one public IP and that's on my verizon firewall configured to port forward to my FreeBSD server. I do not control the Cisco device, but here is the config that was sent to me: interface Tunnel10 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.252 tunnel source GigabitEthernet0/0/2.1 (187.255.253.1) tunnel destination 107.48.4.129 Here is what I did on my FreeBSD: ifconfig gre0 create ifconfig gre0 10.1.1.2 10.1.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.252 ifconfig gre0 tunnel 192.168.1.6 187.255.253.1 Now I can ping 10.1.1.1 (his end) But when I try to add a static route for his subnets via his tunnel IP, it fails root@devsrvr:/root # route add -net 187.255.252.0/22http://197.255.252.0/2210.1.1.1 route: writing to routing socket: Network is unreachable add net 187.255.252.0 http://197.255.252.0: gateway 10.1.1.1: Network is unreachable Am I missing anything? Hi all, I'm running FreeBSD 9.2 with squid for a friend who owns an ISP outside the U.S and uses my FreeBSD squid proxy to access netflix. I've been told this can be also accomplished via DNS Proxy. 1 TB data copy
Hi all, We have a windows 2003 server and 1 freebsd 6.2 server. The 2003 server supports USB 1 while the freebsd supports usb 2. We went and purchased an external 1 TB usb 2 harddrive. Our objective is to copy 700GB worth of data from the windows to the freebsd server then take the external harddive to a remote client who runs windows 2003 and then copy the data back to the windows server. The throughput of copying the data from windows to the usb attached to it was ridiculous, more than 12 hours to copy 60GB of data. I tried copying a 1GB file from windows to the usb attached to the freebsd and it took less than 5 minutes, but ofcourse when I tried to mount the usb back to the windows box I could not see the 1GB file that I copied. How can use the freebsd as the destination copy since it has a much better throughput and at the same time have the windows box see the 600GB file that was copied once I attach the usb harddrive to it. Hi all, I'm running Freebsd 5.3 on a Dell GX280 that has both a USB keyboard and mouse. My problem is I added to my /boot/loader.conf file -- hint.atkbd.0.flags=0x1. However, when I need to drop to single user mode, I can no longer use the keyboard. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Stuck on GDM and GNOME 2.4
Hi all, I installed from ports gnome 2.4 and gdm on Freebsd 4.9. I copied factory-gdm.conf to gdm.conf, I also copied gdm.sh.sample to gdm.sh. Mozilla weirdness
Hello, I just upgraded my ports tree and I'm running gnome 2.4 with mozilla 1.4. I logged in as my username (not root) and double clicked my mozilla icon (which was pointing to /usr/X11R6/ bin/mozilla). 2 things I got confused is it gave me a dialog box saying which profile to use (by default, there was default), so I clicked choose defaut profile, it responded it's already in use. Then all of a sudden every 2-3 seconds it gave the same dialog box and I couldn't quit, so I had to reboot. This is my 'top' as you can see a lot of mozilla-bin running, any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank you. PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND 0 ?? DLs0:00.02 (swapper) 0 ?? ZW 0:00.00 (nautilus) 1 ?? gdm crashes
Hi all, I upgraded my freebsd 5.1 ports tree, so I can install gnome 2.4. When everything was installed, I tried running as root gdm, I got the following error: gdm_cleanup_children: Slave crashed, killing its children. This happens when X is about to start the login screen, flickers and drops to a shell and gives this error. This happens for 8 times, then this remark: The display server has been shut down about 6 times in the last 90 seconds, it is likely that something bad is going on. I will wait for 2 minutes before trying to login again on display :0. I also patched the following http://people.freebsd.org/~marcus/pam_get_user.c.diff By default, I setup the system to run wmaker, so if I type startx, I can get in no problem. Boot question
Hi, I have a remote server running freebsd 4.8 5.1 on 2 partitions. Is there a way to ssh to the box and modify a file that tells which version to run when I reboot the machine, since I can't physically be on it.
