Software to print vouchers from large amount of txt data

2007-10-22 Thread simon butsana
Hi,

I am looking for a software that will read repetitive data from a text file
and send it to a preformated fanfold paper (impact printer). The software must
be customizable as to be told on which area of the paper to print a given field
from the source text file.

The data in the text file would thus be translated in a certain number of
similar paper vouchers.

  Does anyone have an idea?

  Thanks,

  Simon

Tool to automate web application installation

2007-08-08 Thread simon butsana
Hi,

I have just built an application that will be using Apache, PHP, MySQL.

I am now looking for a tool that will enable me to automate the installation
of the software, so human intervention will be kept as low as possible.

Basically, the tool will have to install, with one single command (and
probably a number of parameters), Apache, PHP, MySQL, as well as modify some
config files (mainly php.ini)

  Does anyone have clues?

  Regards,

  Simon

Remote Desktop tool for FreeBSD

2007-07-18 Thread simon butsana
Hi,

Does anyone know of a remote X client that can be used to establish a remote

As an example, I would greatly like to test a tool with features similar to
Microsoft's Remote Desktop.

  Thanks,

RE: doubts on FreeBSD

2005-11-22 Thread simon butsana
Hi,

copy the tar ball somewhere, and decompress it using

  tar -xvzf filename.tar.gz

Usually a directory with name filename will be created and you need to go
there using

  cd filename

There you usually find a file README or INSTALL with all necessary
instructions. You can read the README or INSTALL file by typing

cat README | more (or cat INSTALL|more)

Basically the minimu set of instructions will be (after the cd filename)

  make
  make install

  Enjoy

RE: Please help me !

Hi,

Please try:

1. The FreeBSD handbook (available on www.freebsd.org or from FreeBSD Mall
www.freebsdmall.com). It has an excellent chapter on the installation process

2. Then you can check Afnog's website at ws.afnog.org
They have interesting and clear, step-by-step tutorials on building web
servers, mail servers, clustering servers, etc.

3. Last but not least, try Greg Lehey's book The complete FreeBSD. There also
Absolute FreeBSD. These are good guides to several topics, including system
administration.

Hope this helps,

FreeBSD 5.2.1 startup issue after adding MySQL daemon fireup line in /etc/rc.conf

2004-09-23 Thread simon butsana
Hi,

I have a machine that worked fine a couple of hours ago.

After installing MySQL everything went OK and I have been able to shutdown and restart
it several times.

After FreeBSD startup, I had to manually launch the following command to manually
launch the MySQL server daoemon:

shell#support-files/mysql.server -u root -p start

I expected the computer to prompt for MySQL admin password after OS startup but it
just fails and I cannot anymore gain access to system.

Does anyone have a workaround for this?
