Majority of the fix attached. The corner-case where setting does not get saved
even though it should is when the value is same as engine default (this
matters if engine default changes between versions). I'm about to leave that
corner-case to another ticket, and proceed with this as it is.

Details:

The Amplio2 maglevs and railroads can be a bit hard to tell apart (pale blue
vs grey).

Suggestion by aloril_ on IRC:


11:12  aloril_ changed locally maglev tiles using python script (edits

11:13  aloril_ easier to see than what is in beta2
11:22  jtn aloril_: which tileset is that aimed at? (makes grey pixels bluer

 AFAICT)
12:12  aloril_ jtn: yeah, makes light blue, amplio2/maglev.png
12:13  aloril_ it has already very light blue at middle, does not change 
 that, but that alone is a bit hard to see compared to
railroad

Details:

Split from bug #20681

If unit selection dialog is being opened without focus units, it crashes due
to not having the reference tile usually set to be the one focus unit (or head
unit of multiple selected) stands on.

Avoid that crash by setting reference tile to be current mapview center tile
in that case.

Currently it's not possible to open the dialog without focus unit, so this is
not fixing an crash that would be already happening in curent code base.

No, and I don't see any reason why one would want to do that. The content
there takes constant space (within the particular game  tileset). Making the
area bigger would just add empty space, and they are already in minimum size.

Bug #21519:

In the civ2 ruleset, Settlers' food upkeep for various governments is ...
Fundamentalism, Communism: 3 ...
upkeep=3 govs might have been accidental (in earlier Freeciv they were 2) ...
(The only other ruleset we ship having 3 upkeep anywhere is multiplayer,
where Fundamentalism has 3 upkeep. This one may have been deliberate.)

The ticket then fixed the civ2 ruleset.

While I have no evidence either way, and cannot be sure about this, I'm quite
sure that multiplayer rule is not deliberate but is simply a result of copying
Fundamentalism effects from civ2 ruleset (the only ruleset where it existed),
so that also the bug got copied.
It's possible that one who copied the effects noticed this, and deliberately
left it in to multiplayer ruleset, but in that case (s)he should have fixed
the civ2 ruleset - lack of that hints that the thing went unnoticed.

So, I would make the food upkeep 2x under Fundamentalism in multiplayer
ruleset too.

Yes, my script to extract, merge, and create PNG + tilespec files sorts
everything as it comes, unless a hardwired sort order arranges it otherwise
(for map2oil, for everything else it just creates clones of the input tileset
sorted by size, filtering dupes, and cleaning the RGB info in fully
transparent pixels.)

can use dialog-ok for that.

would fit better (esp. if we use dialog-ok instead of fork).
preferences-other -- Leninism ?

We need GPLv2 *or any later version* (didn't find Rosa icons' license, but
looks like you did) and we must keep unmodified any copyright notice (I'm
thinking about AUTHORS file or such).

Also, I don't understand why we should not use icons from theme. There is no
problem as long as we don't need them to have an usable UI. If they don't
match our use, we can use other names.

While this does not prove that the rule was deliberate from the beginning (I
assume above patch just documented existing rule without questioning it), it
should now be considered a known rule nobody has complained about. Deliberate
or not, it seems to be rule people are happy with, and changing it without
proof that it would improve things would possibly break the existing balance.
