Follow-up Comment #1, bug #22599 (project freeciv): This sounds like the longstanding bug #18764. Follow-up Comment #2, bug #22599 (project freeciv): It's 2_5 SVN revision 26245 Yes, it looks like #18764. a heisenbug :-) No player has Statue of Liberty wonder. Communism is evolved and, obviously, astronomie. Starting government has been democracy, as reported by others. Restarting (just) the buggy game make it go away, menue looks pretty. Reproducing from savegame will help? Distro is plain Debian 6 LTS. Compile options, well, where to look? I always play with them. Maybe here is a way to narrow it? How can I tell from compiled program which options I used? Follow-up Comment #3, bug #22599 (project freeciv): Reproducible from savegame, attached. Environment: Debian 6 LTS Compiled from SVN S2_5 Rev. 26245. Ctrl-R suggests I used no options to autogen.sh and make -j 4 su -c make install Directions: 1) Start see civ menue has defect entry for government set savename to test in server options set revolution period to 2 in server options set science rate to 100 move ships supported by Luanda and Bregent out of borders press turn done three times get anarchy save as anarchy Now you have the choice: 2) press turn done get democracy (!) after 1 (!) turn (not 2) The city upset resolved by opponent ... The revolution setting differs from expectation - a bug? Server chose Democracy as default action Menue ist still defect Or you do: 3) see government switched to anarchy, try to tell the server to go back to democracy asap by means of menue, which fails because its not there, and you (yes, you), in devestation, click wrongly on Revolution (a psychological bug?) with the not wanted (but defined) result of and open end revolution which doesn't give you the _chance_ on choosing democracy later on, due to the menue bug in 1), above. 1) reproducible from savegame kontinent-T0260-Y01770-manual.sav.bz2 attached. 2) and 3) reproducible from savegame anarchy to be created in 1) Christian (file #22122) ___ Additional Item Attachment: File name: kontinent-T0260-Y01770-manual.sav.bz2 Size:57 KB ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?22599 ___ Nachricht gesendet von/durch Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #4, bug #22599 (project freeciv): I tested several options to autogen.sh, but due to bug #22602 I switched to (actual) rev. 26313. The menue was always intact. Back to rev. 26245 the defect was present again. What I did: svn update -r 26245 make -j 4 clean ./autogen.sh make -j 4 su -c make install freeciv-gtk2 -d 2 -l log [loading https://gna.org/support/download.php?file_id=22122 ] I even compared the binaries and found it identical to the (saved) one from the morning. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?22599 ___ Nachricht gesendet von/durch Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #6, bug #22599 (project freeciv): The last revision showing the bug (menue Civilization -- government -- [missing government targets here, like anarchy, monarchie ...] is revision 26260. Revisions from 26261 on do not show it. Also, this correlates with the output of some lines: (freeciv-gtk2-r26260:30682): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_is_ancestor: assertion `ancestor != NULL' failed during the test game, where the bug is present. The bug is visible after loading savegame file #22122 (attached).
