[Freevo-users] Idea for Freevo config file
I had an idea (which I cannot make happen) for a web based program to produce a config file. I don't know why I thought that a web based interactive program would be better than one packaged in with Freevo, except that it should be easier to maintain, as it would not be distro based. To me, making the python config file work is the hardest part of installing Freevo, and trying to get the right bits in place for TV the hardest part again. [Freevo-users] Display problem with "HD" TV
New TV channels have started being broadcast this weekend and I have an interesting display problem with the new "HD" channels. These produce a video display which is larger than my screen. They can viewed in a X-window session provided the display is windowed and not full-screen. Full-screen they hang the GUI and give a black display. Audio is heard. In the Freevo window manager I get the same. After pressing [Esc] to quit I have to press [z] a few times to get a display again. I think that if I had some mplayer settings that would scale them back I might get something viewable. It is not a high powered processor running this box, and I have --framedrop set already. My display isn't perfect with smaller displays, often a channel is made square (so everyone is skinny). Pressing [z] for fullscreen will make it rectangular, but not fill the screen, and positioned to the right. Pressing [z] again makes no change to the video, as it then becomes an mplayer interpreted [z] and some delay is programmed. [Freevo-users] New Install
Some of you may be familiar with the 'one last fiddle' to the setup which then breaks a lot of things - in this case perl and mencoder and tv_grab. This morning I started a reinstall process and upgrade to Debian testing. After try 2 I got most things running and freevo installed. I had a lot of difficulty getting my new local_conf.py read. Freevo was reading /etc/freevo/local_conf.py.example or /etc/freevo/local_conf.py.old instead of the edited /etc/freevo/local_conf.py. Once I did a complete rename of the files I was able to see my config. It's not all roses, though. A kernel upgrade too far killed my ethernet and then the dvb-t stick. Has anyone got a HD-Home Run working for Freevo tv? -- Keep Your Developer Skills Current with LearnDevNow! The most comprehensive online learning library for Microsoft developers is just $99.99! [Freevo-users] Integrating HDHomerun tuner into Freevo
1. I managed to get Freevo to tune the hdhomerun and dump the stream to a buffer on the HDD. I didn't get anything on the screen to watch, I didn't get any audio. It just says "Tuning [channel]". I can't decipher to recorded stream with vlc, mplayer or xine. 2. I tried recording with the generic record plugin but it doesn't send a tuning sequence of commands. I get a fxd file created but not even an empty file for the record. I've tried a few commands for vlc and mplayer that might have worked. Anyone got any further suggestions?? -- For Developers, A Lot Can Happen In A Second. Boundary is the first to Know...and Tell You. Monitor Your Applications in Ultra-Fine Resolution. [Freevo-users] HD HomeRun to DVB
This bit is good news. I found that someone had coded a module and utilities to make a HDHomeRun dual tuner look like 2 DVB tuners. Either Ubuntu packages, or source. http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/dvbhdhomerun/ http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/dvbhdhomerun/wiki/UbuntuPackages I have found that this finally means we have every channel on our Freevo box. I'll continue with Freevo 1.x on my tv box. It's been reliable - more reliable than the hardware, which is now V4. The Freevo 1.x wiki was last archived by archive.org in May http://web.archive.org/web/20130527124511/http://doc.freevo.org/ and the 'recent changes' page says last change in Feb, so that is still available. [Freevo-users] Mplayer and Debian
I upgraded yesterday and broke the mplayer install. Mplayer doesn't come from Debian anymore https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=758543#58 and the result has been my config file got wiped. I used mplayer to record from my hdhomerun tv, so without the /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf.local nothing happens. Just a warning.....
