Apparently one cannot pay for 6.2.4 and must revert to Sponsored. So one has to endure their little window. though they probably never fill it with ads, I don't want it. Plus, sponsored doesn't provide SpamWatch. Otherwise, I don't see any significant improvements. This was not my experience with Eudora 6.2.4 I was allowed to use my old registration number from previous versions. Re: Migrating from Eudora ?
I have been running Eudora 6.2.4 (paid) with SpamSieve 2.7.5 under Mac OS X 10.4.11 for quite some time and could not be happier with its performance and reliability. I have a hugely complex mail folder which is handled efficiently and reliably by my current setup. Some four/five years ago I moved to Thunderbird due to my good experiences with Firefox... until I realized it had corrupted all the mail I have imported from Outlook Express! Re: Migrating from Eudora ?
Well this turns out to be a lively thread. Great. First, why do I want to migrate: To get more modern, but mostly there are a few small, picky things that annoy me about Eudroa 6.0 (some may just be due to my ignorance or misuse). 1. I don't like that it distinguishes mailboxes from Folders and only sorts mailboxes to the top of the list. 2. I never seem to get the filters to work as I'd like; 3. any spam feature (if there is one) doesn't work well. So I downloaded Thunderbird, but on my setup (currently on the road, booting from an external HD through an IBook G4) it has one very inconvenient attribute, i.e. often when expanding a Mailbox folder it doesn't respond immediately. Does anyone else experience that? BTW, I downloaded Eudora Mail Cleaner and it seems to work like a charm at least exporting to Thunderbird. I don't think it exports to Outlook though, but it is designed to mitigate the very problem you mention Gorka. It looks like MailForge is still in Beta and in any case not open source. I'm going to take a look at Penelope. Re: Migrating from Eudora ?
Hello Cliff, I find that Mail attempts to convert and (corrupt) postscript items. Also if you send an image say a jpeg and you check send windows Friendly it downsamples some images.. I have sent images to magazines that were correct but when the PC opened them on the other end - the size was half the original... When I do these things with thunderbird - No problem. Glad this issue is out in the open... been a contentious one for a while.
