It also kind of takes some of the fun out of the dungeon if the damage isn't
cumulative, since it means you have to build spacifically against the
bosses. I was hoping you could do it in any build, I rather like my saucerer
built with max spell damage in mind, though I'm not using effects at the
moment. Ah well, I guess its a matter of preference.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I saw the list of older zones, like the ones
 from
white wednesday, and figured you could exploit the game by going back
 to
those old zones using the mafia client. But it didn't seem to work.
 There
 is
a checkbox in the preferences that says honor path restrictions though,
 and
I have to wonder about that. I guess it probably means the client would
 try
to use something that went against your path but the game wouldn't let
 it.
*shrug*. Anyway, since I'm not sure if the message went through or not,
 I'm
talerous on there. I started my own clan spacifically for hobopolis and
 loot
distribution, there's only about 3 of us in there right now. I figure
 the
bigger the clan, the less loot you're going to get no matter how much
 work
you put in. It'll be tough, but I think a small clan could beat
 hobopolis
eventually, with the right amount of motivation and power. No way we
 could
pull it off multiple times a day though, lol. You must be in an
 insanely
 powerful clan.

Wow, you serious? I was sort of relying on cumulative damage for this one.
Right now I'm in a saucerer build that maxes out spell damage, so muscle's
kind of useless. I have this strange feeling I might be screwed till the

Re: [Audyssey] Games for the Blind on Nintendo's Wii

2008-07-05 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi Nicol,
I tried the AudiOdyssey game when it was released for Windows a few
months ago. The installation program was surprisingly not accessible at all,
but you can install the game by pressing Enter a few times. As for the Wii,
if they've got it where you can play it on the actual console, that would be
interesting. I know you can set up the Wii-mote to be used on a computer by
means of Bluetooth, according to the AudiOdyssey manual, but I don't own a
Wii so don't know how well that would work. I thought about getting one when
they first came out, but I'm not going to because of it's interface. From
what I saw of it, you have to point and click on various "channels", such as
disc channel to get a game going. That was just my first impression of the
thing anyway.
   Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,
Kelly John Sapergia

2008-07-05 Thread Yohandy
hehe it doesn't matter if you're soloing or not, you still need to beat the
bosses on your own. damage does not add up, so if a person loses and someone
else takes the boss, they're starting over. also don't depend solely on
equipment for bosses. divine items and reagent potions are great for this.
you'll also need to boost your muscle as high as possible so when you hit
you inflict lots of damage.

Hobopolis can actually be completed in 5000 turns or so. And yeah, a small
clan can definitely beat hobopolis. in fact it'll probably be a lot easier
since it's simpler to coordinate things. there are even people that are
trying to solo it. now that's insane right there, especially if they get
caught by the chums multiple times. ouch. out of curiosity, how far are you
into hobopolis?

Yeah, I noticed that too. I saw the list of older zones, like the ones from
white wednesday, and figured you could exploit the game by going back to
those old zones using the mafia client. But it didn't seem to work. There is
a checkbox in the preferences that says honor path restrictions though, and

Actually I don't think KoL can be exploited with mafia, because mafia still
needs to access KoL to do what you tell it to. so if you tried using mafia
to rotate the maze before you had access to that area, it wouldn't work.
There's also a huge list of mafia scripts found here:

Re: [Audyssey] psp

2008-07-05 Thread Tom Randall
Hi Michael.

As Thomas said, you can get the psp anyplace Sony consoles are sold,
best buy, EB games, etc. No, the menus do not speak either in the games
or at the main system screen what is called the home screen. However
there is usually a sound when you move around in the menus, in the home
screen there is a little clicking sound when you move. This is good
because you always know if your movement did not take for some reason.
The home screen menus are in columns and rows and are fairly simple and
easy to memorize, one very good thing is that the cursor does not wrap
around the menu when you reach the top or bottom or one of the edges the
way it does in Windows. This is good because you can always start out
from a known point say the top left corner which happens to be the
system menu. I am slowly but surely doing a write-up on the menu system
both the home screen and for Tekken which is the only game I have at the
moment. When you get your psp you are going to need sighted assistance
to do the initial setup, you have to set the date and time and name your
psp and a few other things and there is no way for us to do these
things. Once you have this stuff set just don't let the battery go
completely flat or remove it for any length of time or you will have to
have them set it again. I wish there was some utility that could save
all your settings to a file on your pc, there is a usb port on the psp
that you use to place music or pictures or movies onto your memory stick
if you have one so such a utility should be possible but I have not
found one yet.

In short I really like this little unit I've only had mine for a couple
of months now but have been having lots of fun with it. I have only
bought one game so far Tekken dark resurrection which I highly
recommend. It is entirely possible to use the unit as a music player or
watch movies on it with a little memorization. A couple of us have them
on this list, I do and I know Tyler just got one so if we can be of any
help just drop a note here.

Best regards,

Tom

Hi

Well, this here aluminum case was really a bargin, because it came with
a
lighter adapter, earbudds, and cleaning cloth, not to mention 6 game
cases.
Everythings compartmentalized, so you don't need to worry about things
banging around. It was all tolled about 24 bucks, and that's saying
something since each item would probably have costed you at least 20
bucks,
so you get 5 things for the price of 1, oh yeah and it came with a
screen
protector- which I'm using. I don't take the memory stick out iether,
because that case also came with a USB/power cord for the psp (one end
has
the plug to plug into the computer, while the other end is rather neat.
It
has a USB plug for the PSP, which you can charge it with, but it takes
more
time, or there's just a regular power plug which charges it like normal,
but

from your computers power! I thought that was neat, and I'll be using
this
with the pac mate. Oh, I also recommend getting a good pair of
headphones -
I'm currently using sony noise-canceling ones and I absolutely love them
for

gaming. Everythings crisp and clear, and they're good for when your in a

very loud area- I find the volume doesn't go high enough to mask that,
but
who cares? Those speakers aren't meant for that. By the way, I just
finished

updating mine, because the manual and my psp's menu spoke differently-
mine
was a few firmwares out of date.

Re: [Audyssey]   question about consoles.

2008-07-05 Thread Tom Randall
Hi Alex and all.

It is important to remember that the answer to this question depends on
what you mean by accessible. I personally prefer the word playable to
accessible for these mainstream games because strictly speaking none of
them are accessible in the way most blind people think of when they
think of accessible games. How many of them you will be able to play
depends on many factors including how good you are at figuring things
out in games in general, how much time and effort you are willing to put
into learning them, and whether or not you have regular access to
sighted assistance for the times you are going to need it. It appears
the ps2 is the best according to some of the folks on here who have been
into the newer consoles more than I have with the psp being next. So
which one you should get really depends. For myself I wanted a portable
unit and that was more important to me, so I chose the psp and am happy
with it, however I probably will pick up a ps2 at some point if I find
one for a decent price.

Best regards,

Tom

[Audyssey] SAPI5 problems

2008-07-05 Thread Damien Sadler
Hi.
I don't know whether this message got sent. I thought it did, but I had no
reply to it.
I'm having SAPI5 problems. I had some SAPI5 voices which I wanted to uninstall.
Some of them wouldn't uninstall. Whether they were corrupt or the uninstaller
was missing or something else needed to happen that couldn't, I can't remember,
so I deleted the voice's folder.
After this, my SAPI5 voices that I had left wouldn't talk, so I ran the
DelUserLex.exe program on Jim Kitchen's website. Now I can't even access the
voices through the speech control panel applet. It says the voice can't be
played.
I'm wondering what I can do about this?
Thanks.
Regards,
Damien

Re: [Audyssey] Puppy1

2008-07-05 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Kevin,
Right. if the enemy plane gets in too close and manages to pass you the
enemy plane will turn and go for a tail shot. Personally, this is the
one aspect about Puppy1 I dislike as realistically I should be able to
roll, turn, or something else to evade his tail shot.
However, I understand the reasons Jim has stated for not making the game
more realistic. Doing true 3D combat maneuvers requires some pretty
heavy physics and math. More than Jim says he has the skills for. Even I
would hate doing the mathematics for 3D arieal dog fighting as it is
pretty math intensive.

Hello everyone,
I would like to remind everyone here that the Audyssey list has a
maximum length of 10 KB per message. Over the last few days there have
been several messages going over that 10 KB limit, and have been
rejected. Most of the messages have been on the Kingdom of Loathing
topic. So if you have recieved a message rejected message over the last
two days it would be because you are failing to trim your messages down

this is all I have to say on this topic, but do remember to trim. There
