Re: [Audyssey] Introduction
Hi Michael. I'm afraid the audio games net website needs quite a bit of updating, and worse, I'm one of the people supposed to be updating it, lol! Games wise, well it depends upon what your into. If you enjoy stratogy games like Trek 2000 and Lone wolf, you might like the free startrek final conflict game from Tom ward and Usa games found at http://www.usagames.us/ Not to mention the ever expanding and fantastic free war game, sound rts (rts standing for real time stratogy game), found at http://jlpo.free.fr/soundrts/ which also has the ability to compete online against others if you want, as do the stratogy games from vip gameszone galaxy ranger and lords of the Galaxy, from vip gameszone (though those aren't free), found at http://vipgameszone.com/index.php If you don't mind using a screen reader, you might also fancy smugglers 3 (and soon smugglers 4), two exelent space stratogy and combat games found at http://www.nielsbauergames.com/index.html those are probably the best of what I can think of stratogy wise, though of course there are many more types, including simulation, racing, space combat action, platform games, full 3d first person shooter games and sports, - just give us an idea of what you fancy. Btw, you might also considder registering on the audiogames.net forum, as it's the other major place for discussing games. Hope you find something you like and have as much fun with audio games as I do, all the best, Dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. that is correct. the sounds I did use were freely availible. Hi Nicol, Both of the sounds in question can freely be obtained off of the internet. Neither Liam or Draconis has an exclusive copyright on them since neither company are the original creators of the sounds. They are just free sound effects obtained from the web. As it happens Liam isn't the only one who has used sounds from Monkey Business. As part of my deal with James North in taking over Alchemy Game Studios I recieved a cd with James North's entire sound effects library. when I initially created Montezuma's Revenge I used quite a lot of sounds from Monkey Business. the stone doors, lava pits, ledge sounds, etc come strait out of Monkey Business. Over time I replaced several sounds I found on the internet that were better, but the updated side-scroller I am working on still does use some of those sounds. Re: [Audyssey] homer help.
Hi Kerry, This is the description of the Homer on a Harley game from my web site. You are Homer, the Harley riding motorcycle dare devil. You have brought three of your specially modified Harley Davidson motorcycles to a small oval race track to try to set the record for the number of school buses you can jump. Version 2 fixes the resume game and horn bugs as well as adds the play again and rocket booster features. In version 3 I have added, a key to speak your speed, a points system, bonus Harleys and a practice mode. In version 4 I fixed the practice mode save game conflict etc. Note* you will need to disable your screen reader to play this game. I hope that you will check out the game Kerry. It is not very easy. The object is to tap the left control key at the correct tempo to get at and stay at the correct speed for the distance of the jump. I myself have not beaten the game yet. Re: [Audyssey] very important message to liam erven!
Hi, In my personal experience the, its not worth paying for attitude, is just a cover for, I don't want to spend money for something I can steel for free. I was once in that croud of crackers during my high school/college days, and it took me a while to realise what I was doing and why I was doing it. Once I saw it for what it was I changed my mind about the entire cracking point of view. as Munawar pointed out crackers only see the side of the coin that they have to pay for something. they have no appreciation and don't care about how much money it takes to make said product, how much time spent on making said product, and have some idea everything should be handed to them for free on a silver platter. it isn't until those people get out of high school, college, whatever and enter the work force as programmers, businessmen, etc and have to worry about crackers steeling all of their hard work, time, and money. they are forced to see the other side of the coin, and it isn't very amusing any more. Actually, it is interesting to note some of the best security experts who write firewalls, antivirus programs, and work in other computer security fields are themselves former blackhat crackers with a long criminal history. The reason is that in their younger mor foolish days they see cracking and steeling as fun. When they get older they grow up a little and see all the damage, grief, and misery they and their buddies caused. They then get high paying jobs as security experts who try and secure products and networks from the new generation of crackers who are the spitting image of who they once were. Until you have seen both sides of the coin you don't know much about reality yet. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. I've noticed while playing the demo of super liam that the sound of the monkeys dropping cocanuts is exactly the same as sounds in monkey business. That little musical sound is exactly the same as in level9 in monkey business. When you have to follow the monkey to the teleporter he makes that little musical sound when you are close to him, when you get far behind him he makes another sound. On the beach in the super liam demo I recognize that same musical sound. I heard that same sound when listening to raul playing super liam. The sound as the cocanut is falling together with that little whisseling sound is the same as when you walk into a tree in the jungle and campsite in monkey business. That dish sound is the same as when you walk into a tree in monkey business and that whistling sound is the same as in monkey business when a cocanut hits you . Because in monkey business if you walk into a tree more than once then you get hurt. So liam, you want to take care of that. I don't think draconis is going to be happy if they learn that you are using some of their sounds. Re: [Audyssey] game cracking
Well that would've been a slight problem. I thought it was possible to track down an email address by their IP address, but many things could've prevented that. I'll have to look for a method of retrieving the user's email address from their computer or something like that. I'm sure their email address would be stored somewhere in the registry or in their email client's server settings or whatever, unless there's any other way of doing something like this... At least though, if I couldn't track down the user in question's email address, I'd've had to release a patch that made all the previous keys invalid and provide new keys to my existing customers who had obtained a legal key. [Audyssey] my apologies to the group
Hi everyone. I would like to extend a huge apology for being absent for so long. Work has kept me very busy these last 3 months and I've not had much time to read all list mail. My huge thanks goes out to Tom Ward for handling the list the way he has. If my busy schedule keeps up, I will have to step down from co-moderator status because it's not fair to me and it's mostly not fair to Tom and Kevin. If I do step down, I will be happy to continue hosting the audyssey domain so there is no worries on that front. Take care. -- Raul A. Re: [Audyssey] game cracking
Hi damien, what you are proposing to do is virtually impossible from a realistic stand point. In general email clients save all account settings including the user's email address in special account files in the local user's Application Data folder. If we were talking just one email program it might be a feasible concept. However, there are several email application choices out there including Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Udora, Thunderbird, etc. It would be a nightmare to write a utility to support every known email clients unique account file and look inside for email settings and addresses. Then there is of course all those users that use web mail services such as Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, etc which saves all the account settings on the host's server. In that case you are really in trouble as you need admin rights to the server just to get a peak into those files, and need to know what account to look into. In other words really and truly impossible. About the only way you might be able to get their email address is have a demo registration screen that comes up when running the program forcing them to register the demo with a valid email address. this isn't ideal, because even that can be faked or cracked which was the very thing you tried to prevent in the first place. trying to get someone's IP address through the use of local settings should be illega. What ou could do is force them to activate the demo using a code sent in an email, that way you could register their address on the server andand if they crack it you know who to email :P On 7/25/08, Damien Sadler [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, Well then I suppose at least my other plan would've been possible, to reset the keys, or use an expiring key or something.
