[Audyssey] alien outback

2008-10-21 Thread 0722001794
HI all
NICOL HERE.
has anyone noticed that the background music in level4 sounds like the slow
sequence of a brain scan?
when I went for a brain scan the scan consisted of 3 sequences.
the first one was fast but NOT HEAVY.
THE SECOND SEQUENCE WAS A SLOW SEQUENCE.
AND THE THIRD SEQUENCE WAS HEAVY, IT SOUNDED LIKE MARILYN MANSON .
BUT THE MUSIC OF THE FOURTH LEVEL OF ALIEN OUTBACK REMINDED ME OF THE SECOND
SEQUENCE OF THE SCAN.
i WONDER IF THE SCAN IS DONE IN CERTAIN PATTERNS.
DOES IT MEAN IF i HEAR A SLOW OR A FAST SOUND PATTERN, THAT MY BRAIN WAS
SCANNED USING A FAST OR SLOWPATTERN?

[Audyssey] gamebook forums

2008-10-21 Thread dark
As people have probably gathered, i'm a pretty major fan of the chronicals of
Arborell.

Well, i thought people would like to know that now not only do they have their
own forum, for discussion of gamebooks in general, and arborell in particular,
but they've even got a specific forum about Vi access in gamebooks.

The forums may be found at http://www.arborellium.freeforums.org/

Hope people have fun.

Beware the Grue!

[Audyssey] AddictMUD

2008-10-21 Thread Patrick Brown
Greetings,

AddictMUD has been around for 12+ years and has a very stable code
base, robust areas and a simple interface. It is based somewhat on the
Dragaera novels by Stephen Brust. There are many other areas in the
game dedicated to many different genres, some examples being Olympus,
Rome, Ender's Game, Dragonlance, Japan, Narnia and many, many more,
including unique areas. In terms of playability for the blind, I don't
know from personal experience, however a couple of my blind friends
have tried it and said it was easy to play using a screen reader. You
can play two characters at once, and create any number of characters.
There is pretty much no ceiling on how much you can improve your
character through leveling and remorting (going back to level one at a
certain level and gaining stats/extra equipment slots/special
abilities). There are also quests, both immortal run and integrated, a
bazaar system to buy and sell equipment and many other features. The
game is a non-PK game, there is no player versus player involved
except for the very occasional Total Carnage, in which the game is
backed up and people are allowed to kill and loot each other with no
drawback, as the game is restored afterward. There aren't a TON of
players, but there is a stable community of very helpful, nice people.
I think that anyone looking for a fun, ever-changing environment, they
should check out AddictMUD. Check out addictmud.org

Here is the address and port to the game itself:

Re: [Audyssey] To the developers of Montezuma's Revenge

2008-10-21 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi.
Well, there are quite a number of differences between Montezuma's
Revenge and Mysteries of the Ancients. They are similar in that they
are both side-scrollers, both arcade style games, both treasure
hunting games, but that is where the similarities stop and where the
differences begin.
For one thing when I started work on Mysteries of the Ancients I began
with giving the game an all new storyline, different enemies, and
added some new traps. As I am still working on parts of the storyline
I don't want to say too much hear about it, but I can say it is not in
an Aztec temple as in Montezuma's Revenge. Mysteries of the Ancients
is set in an ancient ruins in Grease.
Instead of enemies like skulls, snakes, and spiders you have some
enemies straight out of Greak mythology such as centaurs, harpies,
skeleton warriors, and perhaps a cyclopes or two.
Like Lara Croft, in the Tomb Raider games, Angela Carter is going to
be an expert with all kinds of weapons. Throughout the game you will
be able to find and use all kinds of weapons such as: a Glock 19
pistol, a Smith Wesson 357 Magnum, an HK MP5, a Mossberg 500 series
shotgun, a sword, a bow and arrow, and a leather whip. Obviously, the
weapons alone is a huge difference from Montezuma's Revenge.
Another major difference is that Mysteries of the Ancients is only the
first game in a series of games that are going to be marketed under
the Tomb Hunter trademark. In addition to the games I plan to llaunch
a series of short stories or books that continues the adventures of
Angela Carter. Like my very own Tomb Raider series without stepping on
Edos Interactive's big toes.
Since this is going to be an entire series I'm going to have to add a
much more detailed storyline, main characters, some connection between
every game/story, and that also is a huge difference. In my experience
people are more interested in games if they are familiar with the
characters, story, and enjoy the series as a whole.
For example, take Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. People
enjoyed the movies, books, etc. As soon as the game companies saw the
success of the movies and books they immediately released some games,
and the games were amung there top sellers.
Now, I am not saying I am a great writer and that I can create
anything as great as Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. However,
I can provide some background, some fiction, etc that makes it more
than a game. Add the what next to the story, or gives you the history
how Angela ended up in this ancient ruins doing what she is doing.
As for a time limit Sendspace only keeps the files around for 7 days
for a standard user. So once I release the final beta of Montezuma's
Revenge everyone will have exactly 7 days to get it, and then it is
ancient history. So that will be that.
Cheers.

Valiant wrote:
Hi.
If you were to go ahead and release MR as open source or something like
that, I'm wondering if new potential buyers would snag that instead of
buying MTA. They are somewhat similar I do believe. I'm just thinking you
should make profit off of this sometime. I just thought of that and wanted
to mention it. Maybe the limited time thing would work.
Like 3 days, then it's gone, or something.

Hi is there crafting available to the player? What else is there to do but
kill now and again. How do you get levels etc?

Any more information will be helpful. I am looking for a mud that offers
some type of player or mob killing now and again but I do not want a mud
that in order to get from level 1-40 that I have to kill.

I want a mud that at level 1 I could start with crafting and making things
etc.

If there is anyone else on this list that knows a mud like this I would be
interested in it. Also that is newbie friendly for I am not that good with

VV (my mud) will be incorperating crafting, by the time it's open for beta.
You can't just log in and start crafting, you'll need to level the skills,
but I like the idea. We're just going by skill and rating--no levels. I
haate starting over from level 1 again and killing the same thing 5-6 times
(same areas), gets really really boring after a while.

Re: [Audyssey] spoonbill chess

2008-10-21 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hi Kellie

How long has it been since you emailed your request to Ian? It can take a
day or two for him to respond sometimes. The game does seem very good
however.

Take care
Ron

hey all,
i was wondering if someone could contact Ian and see if my email requesting
the chess game went through. I haven't received a response yet and am not
sure on the status. I checked my spam folder to and it isn't in there
either.
thanks

Re: [Audyssey] SoundRTS thoughts

2008-10-21 Thread Terrence van Ettinger AKA Angus MacLaren
Hmm...it seemed when I did that that I was just told the building was
already being built there or something.

Hi.
Yes it can be done. You can move to a peasant and tell it to build there
and it'll join the others. It's been ages since I played, but if I
understand you rightly, it is, or was, doable.

Hello all,
So I'm sitting here playing SoundRTS, and thinking it would be great
if I could add peasants to a building project that was already in
progress. Can that be done\? If not, it would be a great addition to the
game imho.
