[Audyssey] my joystick, a problem

2009-05-30 Thread Josh
Hi
I ordered my joystick on amazon a few days ago and they delivered it to the
wrong address. They did give me a package, UPS did, but it was inhaler
solution. and it was meant for another address. So I emailed amazon and the
amazon seller about it, so hopefully I will get my package a replacement, or
have my money refunded. It was the UPS carrier that messed up, so now as a
result I do not have my joystick.

Re: [Audyssey] New games from Blind Adrenaline release notice

2009-05-30 Thread Ryan Strunk
I've spent the past few months helping Che and others to test his new
products, and--hands down--I think everyone is going to love them. He is
releasing two new games which, in addition to being well-polished and
brilliantly conceived, are both fun and challenging to play. To date I
haven't found anything as strategically complex as a good game of hearts,
and nothing can beat the raw psychology and luck of Texas Holdem.

Beyond the games, though, I've been extremely impressed with Che's attention
to detail--right down to the ability to play with your chips while playing
holdem. (I'm a terrible fidgeter, so this comes in handy.) If you want to
play a game of hearts but don't have four players, you can invite 1 to 3
monkeys in to fill any vacant seats--and watch out! Those little buggers can
shoot the moon!

His tournament system is extremely easy to use and can make for some
interesting competitions. I have yet to finish in the top three of a hearts
tournament, but I'm just biding my time. In addition the mini-tournaments he
alluded to in his earlier post add some fun to Texas Holdem. If you don't
want to be bullied around by people with way too many chips for the smaller
tables, just set a specific buy-in amount, and everyone is on an equal
footing. If you like the high-stakes play of unequal stacks, just set the
max bet higher.

I'm also a big fan of the invitation tables, especially where hearts is
concerned. My wife and I moved away from our friends almost a year ago, and
we miss playing cards with them. Now, though, all we need to do is set up a
private hearts table with specific invitations, and we can still battle it
out over the internet.

Blind Adrenaline's new games are going live very soon, and I hope everyone
takes the opportunity of a free month to find out just how much fun they
are. I'm sure you will all be just as impressed as I am.

Thanks Che for keeping the community strong, and keep up the good work!

 Hi all,
Well, it has taken a lot longer than I thought to get these card games
the way I wanted them, but I think you'll be very pleased with the
results.
I've been working on an advanced version of online Texas hold em and
online hearts so we can play our friends over the internet, and for anyone
that is into strategic game play, you are in for a treat.
We've been testing these games extensively the past few months, running
hundreds of hands to get it just right, and finally they are ready for
prime time.
I will be releasing both games Monday June 1, and everyone can play for
free for the month of June. After that, it will cost just $3.95 a month
for a subscription. I'm also finishing up code for 5 card draw, and hope
to have that included sometime in late June.
For you Texas hold em fans, you are gonna love this, I've made it
possible for you to create your own table with your own rules. If you want
to make a pot limit table with a max $1 buy in, no problem. Want a no
limit table with a max of $1,000,000, bring it on.
Also, you can create private tables and invite only the people you want
to play if you like. These games will only show to those invited, so no
worries about folks getting mad they weren't invited.
Another way cool feature and my favorite way to play hold em are the sit
and go tables, which are basically like mini tournaments, where each
player buys in for whatever amount you set, and the top three finishers
split the pot 20, 30 and 50 percent. This is the format the World Series
of poker uses, and we've played most of our hold em games this way, and
everyone is loving it.
With an interface created to make getting the information you need as
easy as possible, you'll find playing hold em a fun and intuitive
experience.
Hearts is equally fun, with an interface designed to make navigating your
cards as easy and natural as possible.
You can also create your own tables for hearts, with whatever max score
you want, as well as set up the advanced version which includes a ten
point subtraction for catching the jack of diamonds.
I have also created a tournament system that will allow frequent online
tournament play for some cool prizes.
The web site keeps track of each players money for hold em and hearts
points for hearts, which you earn by beating other players, and I will be
giving players online trophies for hitting the million dollar mark, as
well as winning tournaments.
Right now, both games work with either Sapi, jaws or window eyes, and I
hope to integrate support for other screenreaders in time. Basically, the
games have gotten really good due to user feedback, and I plan on
continuing to hone the experience with suggestions from players.
I will be giving a demonstration and taking questions tomorrow Saturday
May 30 on the voice chat site for the people at 7:30 eastern in the
presentation room.
Feel free to hit me with any questions you might have, and if you reply
on list to this message, please delete my text here, as this is a rather

don't clear it first.

Re: [Audyssey] My Games Pack

2009-05-30 Thread Ken
well, I am trying to get those myself. About a year ago I lost my old
computer--and the games. They were all hosted on Kara's site but they were
deemed parasitic and removed by the person that took over the site, with no
warning to me whatsoever. I do have Wrecking Ball but that's it for now.
If someone could send me those games I'll host them if I can ever get my
site to be accessible to others. I'm going to work on that today if my
computer geek friend is at home.

Re: [Audyssey] net hack on the pac mate

2009-05-30 Thread Ken
Your character is a full 8-dot Braille cell, and other humanoids are as
well. Once you've picked out your person, you'll see a map of the room
you're in. Vertical walls are ls, horizontal dashes, and so on. The
corners are also shown. If you want to know what an object is, type slash,
answer yes, (or no if you want to type in symbols instead,) and click on the
symbol in question. As NetHack is a seriously complex game, there are many
to learn, mostly monsters, books and scrolls, and so on. Then hit space
when you're done.
To move around, you can either activate PC cursor and use the arrows, click
where you want to go, or type numbers as they would appear on the numpad--2
for down, 9 for up and right, and so on. You'll also want to review the
commands, especially useful are k for kick, (which is how you break through
doors,) M for moving as far as you can in any given direction, and others.
If you are getting errors about not finding the sounds, make sure the
correct directory is specified--hard disk instead of storage card if that's
where the game is. The top of the screen shows your stats, and the bottom
shows any messages, so check both often. As you move around, you uncover
more rooms that were at first unmapped, and a magic mapping scroll reveals
the entire level.

HTH

Hi

Net hack is an aski text adventure, which means everything about what's
going on is represented by aski graphics, your character and the
dungeon around them.

Your character is the at sign, monsters and other objects are letters, the
floor I believe is a series of hashes etc.

I've personally never managed to get on with screen readers and aski
graphics in roguelikes at all, but then again I do not own a braille
display, which I'm guessing would make life far easier than using a screen
reader.

Nor I'm afraid do I own a packmate, so I can't be any direct help, but I
hope this answers the basic question.

hi,
I tried the pac mate games pack, I'll admit a lot. a lot on there!
it'ss better organized now as well. but I have a question, how do you
all classify net hack as being a playable game... I can't play it
mainly because I have no idea what should I be doing. on the screen I
can see my character name and his race, the status, and then a weird
stream of characters, I'm guessing this is a sort of a map or an asky
decoration. what should I be doing? One thing I know. I need to type
commands, but nothing more.

only the pac mate runs jaws for pocket pc's, fs never released an open
version of this particular thing. smart phones run mobile speak or
smart hal in some cases. anyway, I'll check this out right now.

Your character is a full 8-dot Braille cell, and other humanoids are as
well. Once you've picked out your person, you'll see a map of the room
you're in. Vertical walls are ls, horizontal dashes, and so on. The
corners are also shown. If you want to know what an object is, type
slash, answer yes, (or no if you want to type in symbols instead,) and
click on the symbol in question. As NetHack is a seriously complex game,
there are many to learn, mostly monsters, books and scrolls, and so on.
Then hit space when you're done.
To move around, you can either activate PC cursor and use the arrows,
click where you want to go, or type numbers as they would appear on the
numpad--2 for down, 9 for up and right, and so on. You'll also want to
review the commands, especially useful are k for kick, (which is how you
break through doors,) M for moving as far as you can in any given
direction, and others. If you are getting errors about not finding the
sounds, make sure the correct directory is specified--hard disk instead of
storage card if that's where the game is. The top of the screen shows
your stats, and the bottom shows any messages, so check both often. As
you move around, you uncover more rooms that were at first unmapped, and a
magic mapping scroll reveals the entire level.

Hi

Net hack is an aski text adventure, which means everything about what's
going on is represented by aski graphics, your character and the
dungeon around them.

Your character is the at sign, monsters and other objects are letters,
the floor I believe is a series of hashes etc.

I've personally never managed to get on with screen readers and aski
graphics in roguelikes at all, but then again I do not own a braille
display, which I'm guessing would make life far easier than using a
screen reader.

[Audyssey] More information about the Dust Mare Mud.

2009-05-30 Thread Jeremy Hartley

Hello everyone.

I know that Shadow Dragon mentioned the dust mare mud, or mare, a few weeks
back. I also know that some of us have given it a go with various
successes.

I just wanted to quickly write and let everyone know that the admins are
working on doing everything they can for blind and VI players.

I am sort of the unofficial official admin for blind and VI players now,
whatever that means. grin.

We have been working to write more help files and intro materials for screen
reader users.

This screen reader support, along with the help system has a bit to go yet,
but I am on quite a bit when I have time, it helps to have some down time at
work, and I am more than happy to help those around who would like some
initial assistance.

The one cool thing about DustMare is that it has an RPG style storyline to
go along with your basic mud style game play.

I would strongly suggest this game for those of you who are looking for a
mud more than just your basic stock hack and slash, timed quests, and lack
of a true storyline.

The address is at winds.org port 4000.

Look for galphner, and if I am on, I would be happy to answer any questions
you may have.

To page me, just type
page galphner=your message.

Thanks for the kind words there Ryan,
We've had a lot of fun testing these out, and should be even better when
we get more folks playing from all over the world to fill any time slot
night or day with their own tables.
For those of you new to either game, i've created a few tutorials to help
get you started, so don't feel shy to check it out and see what you think.
also, i will be hosting weekly tutorial chats on for the people for those
that have any questions about the games.

I'll post back to the list once the games go live on Monday.

[Audyssey] Contacting Draconis?

2009-05-30 Thread Ryan Conroy
Hi,

I've been trying to contact Draconis Entertainment for a couple months now.
I've written to all their Email addresses more than once, and I've gotten no
reply. Does anyone know how I can contact them? Or, contact Josh?
Thanks,
Ryan

I am just wondering if I've missed Neil's podcast on the way he has made
the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 accessible because I have been away for

a few days, and when I checked my backlog of email messages, I didn't see
anything about that.

 Thanks
