  Hi Chee:

It depends on what you are looking for in terms of mudding. For hack and
slash goodness along with competitive and fun atmosphere where you can
customize a large quantity of things, check out Project Bob.
  Projectbob.game-host.org port 4000.

Discworld was the first mud that I ever played. Discworld.atuin.net port
  23.

For a more roleplay oriented environment try lensmoor. It is medieval
fantasy with classes that you can customize and also has one of the best
crafting systems that I have ever seen. lensmoor.org port 3500.

I can go on and on, I'm sure. I liked Miriani as well although I haven't
been around very much...not one word out of you, Valiant!! I mean it!
  *shakes fist*

I find it difficult to get in to alter eon and it's probably because I
really hate old style diku muds. Maybe I'm just a bit of a mud
  snob...perish the thought.

Anyhow, I hope that this has helped. Feel free to check out the mud
  connecter at www.mudconnect.com

I have always believed that it isn't necessarily about accesibility and what
the best mud is for blind folks as much as it is what muds are you truly
going to enjoy? The muds that tend to burn my cookies are those with ascii
maps and no ability to turn them off. If I can't navigate to the land of
Kill-em-dead without assistance because there is a graphical representation
of the wilderness and then I drown in a river that I had no idea was even
there, I'll likely not play it.

I hope that I have helped somewhat.

also, great to hear that VipMud is out...I've been out of pocket for the
past couple of weeks so I have yet to figure out how to get my hot little
hands on it, but I'm sure I'll get to that sooner or later.

Take care, all. And Chee, welcome to the world of mudding!

  Jaliya

Re: [Audyssey] space invaders versus star trek strategy game

2008-05-19 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
Yeah I beat dark destroyer too *grins*. I like that game a lot. I own a copy
of troopinum too. I've beat troop a few times also but dark destroyer was
actually a whole lot easier and more laid back *lol*. If I were going to
talk about which game was hard I'd say it was troopinum. That's a good thing
really. On the one hand I've got troopinum, lots of different features in
it, challenging to beat, cheats, good voice, fast action, and the fact that
you can hold down the arrow keys to scroll like someone mentioned. On the
other hand there's Dark Destroyer, free, a bit easier to play, different
voices, etc. I like it that way, get tired of one and play the other for a
while.

Re: [Audyssey] 3d load

2008-05-10 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
I can get lifted off the ground, but the sound of air whooshing over my jet
is too loud so I can't hear anything else, can't understand the voice, etc.
I'm pretty deaf, so that doesn't help any. I need to read the documentation
again because honestly I have no clue what to do after I get my butt off the
ground and up high enough so that beeper quits. I got a good hard laugh out
of the curses that occur each time I crash, cackle. I found out by accident
that f1 and f2 can be used to change music volume. I don't remember reading
that in the documentation. That helped though, I turned it all the way down
and was able to hear more important thins afterwards. I often just edit the
sounds in games so that I can hear what I need to hear better, but I can't
do that to this one *grins*

I don't know anything about this getting xp to work on a ps3, but that was

Re: [Audyssey] mushclient question

2008-05-01 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
Mush client works with vista. You may, however, want to try vipMud too. Mush
client is freeware for all it's features and can be made accessible with a
little know-how and the right files (and with more know how it can work with
almost anything *grins*, where vip mud doesn't allow use of full features
until you purchase a 30 dollar license key, but works directly with
window-eyes, SAPI, JAWS, and even system access. You can always use vip mud
to get started, then switch to mush client when you're ready to really get
going or of course purchase vip mud if that's the way you go, of, of course,
you could start with mush client as is your idea. Just so you know you have
choices.

Combat rules? hmmm, sure. As for cash, I seriously recommend
 artifacting.
 I
enjoy it, so it could be just me. Archaeology used to be a big
 thing until
somebody decided they were going to script and so it dropped
 drastically,
 so
now its basically worthless. example: if you go artifacting for one
 day
constantly, you can get about 600 lightyears or more. You will earn
 about
 200 million credits.
In terms of combat, there aren't any rules. You just need to
 realize that
sector 24 is where a lot of fighting is; that's where the mission
 jumpgate
 is, and where a lot of people take there fighting. Just keep moving;
 that's
the key. BUt I'll cover more on this in my podcast, hopefully.

So it looks like it will be in more than 1 part; a part for just
 talking,
and an actual demonstration. You're actually lucky, because I've
 got a
simulator in the surveyer I'm in; so I can sort of show you the
 basics.

 hope that helps

Have a good day from Tyler C. Wood!

Hi.
Email me off list with a way I can chat with you in realtime. Msn messenger
is cool. I can handle AOL and yahoo too. If we must I can log into the mud
you're working on. I know exactly how to do this sort of thing. If that's

talk to you. My email is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [Audyssey] Side-scrollers was MOTA Beta 2.

2008-03-25 Thread Valiant8086 on laptop
Hi.
Just like in other games, randomness can indeed be implimented in side
scrolers. In mario rothers, for example, the very first step you take puts
you within 4 steps of one of those, what are they called, 4 more stepps and
jump you got him. It doesn't have to be like that though, it's doable to put
them where ever. Thomas's side scroler is likely to have the levels the
same, why would the building or geological aspect change, but the
characters, things like that, will certainly be able to be in diferent
places each time the game is played.

Re: [Audyssey] something I was going to discuss before yesterday

2008-03-22 Thread Valiant8086 on laptop
Hi.
The update isn't 600 mb. It is only 64mb. Perhaps the 600mb is the stand
alone version, which has the other languages in it. So far mine is working
just as it was before I updated. I never did have any problems with games,
so.

Re: [Audyssey] What's Ahead For MOTA Beta 2.

2008-03-21 Thread Valiant8086 on laptop
Hi.
People will like Thomas's 3d version of mota. Not everyone, but by the
sounds of all the things that can be done with it those who aren't
discontent and maybe even those, will likely find the game a good one. You
won't get or shouldn't be able to get Thomas to write a game he doesn't have
the urge to write, it's, as he described, like being punished by doing
something rediculous, 500 spelling words. Think about it this way. What
would you do in Thomas's position? Whether you want or don't want something
isn't something you can change, now imagine you spent the last year and a
half developing a game that you took off the hands of another developer. At
that time, the game wasn't close to publishable. You worked your butt off,
you figured out all the code that developer who originally developed the
game used, that's not an easy feat by the way, especially because the
original developer didn't use very good commenting. This means Thomas had to
figure out what the developer of the original uncomplete game meant by
calling this procedure in his code, and then he had to figure out what that
procedure was before he could make use of it when he continued development,
etc. This could be understood to cause many headaches and small progress for
hard work. In spite of all this, he prevailed, he up and had a game in beta
for the public, a game which me and you downloaded and enjoyed demonstration
versions of, he put a game on our computers that we, excluding me, paid for
to a different developer. Thomas took that game you paid for and finished it
for you, almost. But, suddenly, someone else comes in and asks Thomas
questions about his game, stating it had certain similarities to their own
game which they had developed and stopped developing a few years ago.
Someone whom had him change his game so it wasn't similar to their own,
undoing all of that work he went through to get off the ground with This
James NOrth's uncommented code structure in the first place, undoing the
progress Thomas made for you in the first place. Now he's got to be sick of
it. By now he should be making appreciatable progress on the game,
appreciatable to himself anyway, however, that progress was stopped and set
back by another developer who didn't want him copying their stuff. Now it
can be said that Thomas can be understood to have put many hours, probably
more hours than I would ever spend on anything, let alone a game that some
other developer didn't bother to comment, for nothing, nothing. That
developer who had Thomas redo the game undid it and made all that time
Thomas put into the game worthless, except for one thing. Thomas is bound to
have learned lots of valuable things about coding during the time he worked
on Monti that he can now use in future projects for enhancements. However,
being set back on a project like that wouldn't make one feel any better
about getting it completed, hopes dashed for the developer too.
Think about it, those of you discontent with Thomas's decision to drop the
project and turn to something different, he's doing what he should do, he's
done waisting time and energy, even if from now on he could make progress
because he's out of that little problem of the game just nicking another
game in similarity enough so that that game's developer questions him on it,
he's burnt out, there's the words, burnt out, on volunteer work too. Have
some simpathy, play monti beta and super liam and mario brothers and, if you
feel that getting a 3d version of what you payed for instead of the 2d you
were intending to buy, remember that you bought that from another developer
who cashed his chips and quit, you're still getting a curtacy, still getting
something fr your money even though that developer you baught the game from
quit. If you get Thomas to work doing something he's not wanting to do any
more, you're causing his life to be less than it should. You are aloud to
quit your job any time you want, at least if you want to face the
consequences, no pay.

Have some simpathy for this situation and, if you feel you really are out
some money, put up with it, you could have been out that money when James
North quit, so you'll not be out anything now, except you can still play
Monti beta that Thomas did manage to put out, if you find a copy of it
somewhere. Those of you who did purchasing after James North quit and handed
Monti over to Thomas, you still get Monti beta, if you can find a copy of it
somewhere, and, on top of that, you still get something different than what
you paid for but still worth it, in general if you at least don't feel it's
worth it to you.

We're all humans and humans live lives, and the smart humans live lives the
way the want to, I know I do.

Have some mercy and let this particular hitch slide, you'll still get a game
for your money, and, on top of that, the developer of this particular game
will be living the kind of life they want to liv

Re: [Audyssey] the fans in super liam

2008-03-16 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
Worse experience I ever had with a fan was working on a high performance
custom built computer a year ago that had a huge case fan on the back. It
seamed to spin pretty lazily but that fan was big for a case fan and must
have been made out of a god awful heavy material because when I
accidentally stuck the tip of my finger over there in the wrong angle and
the blade took my finger under it and of course the fan stopped rather
abruptly and there was a gasp hey I wonder who gasped anyway? you guessed
it, and I had a mild cut that didn't even bleed. That hurt though. I've
accidentally stopped lots of computer fans by ignoring that rule about
turning the power off before you go inside of them, it can get rather funny
sometimes you've got a fan purring away and you get in the way and well,
yeah, thunk gasp, quiet, spin up, lol.
Hey ever shoot the fans in sod? it'd be funny of the blades came off when
you destroyed them and went in all directions and inflicted pain on you.

Re: [Audyssey] A question about mud clients

2008-03-16 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
The fmt is pretty cool in my opinion. My biggest problem with it is that you
have to right click the actions aliases or what ever then choose new item to
create a new item. On the other hand, that layout makes since having to
right click it and choose from the menu.
The biggest problem is that it cannot turn keybindings on and off. If I
could get visual studio 6 I'd try to fix it. You guys do realize monkey term
is open source. You could go fix it up to your liking if you can't find
another client that fits your needs perfectly.

The only thing about MushClient that I hate is how it handles external

The only thing about MushClient that I hate is how it handles external
scripts. MonkeyTerm's way is much easier for me to use.

hi greg. monkey term can support sapi if it's coded in to it
righ tnow I'm working on a plugin for z mud that will support all
 major
screen readers as well as sapi. there is also another plugin for z
 mud
 that
 does sapi.

a rework of baseball for blind players that consists of the objects used in
the game making beeping sounds so they can be located by the blind players.
The bases and ball beep.

 Hello Liam!
What do you think about making a really good baseball game?
I am thinking not about a free game.
I am thinking for a game with real sounds, a good comentator

 and
the ability to play against others about the network.
Is this an idea for a future-projekt?

somewhat true. I've crashed it before and it randomly crashes when playing
miriani. It doesn't seam to randomly crash for my own xmls though. The major
problem is sometimes when you open an xml, close it, then open it again you
get a bunch of traceback errors. It doesn't hurt anything though, just close
monkey term and launch it again.
> 2. it uses vb script, who's implamentation is less than stable.
oh? right i've crashed it a bit for sure. I don't have any problems writing
things in vb script for it, my code runs pretty good

true

true, but I still know how to use it
> 5. it offers no way of adding triggers via command line.
false. You can add triggers from the input window. You can also add aliases.
You can only do simple stuff though, so you can't do multi lined stuff like
command say hi then have <% showme"test" %> on the next line. You can also
delete stuff from the input window. You can do a whole lot of stuff with it.
6. one word. vista.
false. It works fine with vista. I'm on vista right now and i've done a lot
of stuff with monkey term here. Turn that around, vista doesn't work with
crap, heh.

true, what's wrong with visual basic?

Maybe you'll use VIPMud. I'll give it a try when it comes out. right now i'm
more than happy with monkey term.

Hi.
You could do html without really adding more work. It appears you have been
using text symbols like +++ to indicate a new section. Well in html
isn't a whole lot more to type, course you have to end it with , as an
example of course, and of course there's the title and stuff but really I
think it's doable.

Re: [Audyssey] lower than bsc ok for games?

2008-02-19 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
While I'm not on the same level as Liam and Damian and stuff, I've developed
some TUI text user interface games in vb script. But because of how I do it,
I have basically the power of b the real vb I mean. I've been writing games
that run in the monkey term mud client. They never connect to a mud, they
just have keybindings and aliases and things. The one I'm working on right
now is sg3 I call it, where you do the classic thing, visit the shop to
enhance your space ship, then go blow another ship up to get enough points
to buy something else to enhance your ship with. It does have sound effects
using com audio and uses jfwapi and gwspeech or sapi for speech output.
Eventually I want to make it publically available but it isn't yet. The
point is though at least I can develop basic games and I'm 18, a senior in
high school with one year left to go (a 5 year high school plan). I took
trig and stopped there. I'll want to develop 3d games in the future but I'll
be doing it without calculus. I don't know hardly anything about it except
with a few minutes I could make something pan with com audio but that's
about it. I haven't taken any programming classes. I got some training from
other randomly willing people, w3schools and trial and error and exciting
goals.

Re: [Audyssey] super secret audio from LWorks

2008-02-19 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi.
Got a question.
How'd you know you had a target to send over the edge? Only spot I could
tell they was enemies was at the end where you apparently stumbled upon a
sniper who was trying their darndest to blast you into smitherines. Dang
that shootin stick they was using musta been getin real hot by an by.
Anyway, that, and how was you moving about? I couldn't tell if it was first
person or what, everything that got you seamed to be directly in front of
you.

I have a suggestion too. It might be a little more realistic to have that
sniper space them shots randomly, bang bang! bang! bang bang boom bang! long
pause. bang! taking aim, or what, oh no!
one more question. How'd you aim, and for that matter, know if you scored a

Re: [Audyssey] Shoot Da Me Reviews

2008-02-19 Thread Valiant8086 (on laptop)
Hi there Ryan.
hmm looks like you got new changes I'm not yet familiar with so some of
these comments aren't gonna work, maybe
First, when I hit down arrow and I should have hit left or right arrow, the
helicopter sound starts playing in the down arrow position too. So now it's
hard to tell where the new real enemy is. If I need to explain better I'll
try.
Another comment is just now I went to exit the game and I hit enter on exit
ut the game didn't quit. I tried it 4 times, ended up just hitting alt+f4. I
think this is the first time it did that.

another suggestion is the ability to turn the music off. or change the
volume and turn it all the way down if you want. So all you're hearing is
the bad guys.

another suggestion is to have 5 possible positions for the gang of fire to
appear rather than 3, as an option. In this case we'd have to switch to
using something like j k l semi colon and apostrophe.

another suggestion is for other enemies than just helicopters, or they can
launch bombs and now you've got a bomb coming down and you have to blow that
up before it hits ground, but at the same time another helicopter appeared,
here's a sinario.

Chopper on my left, I didn't blast him fast enough and he launched a bomb. I
blow him up, but the bomb is still coming down, and it's in the middle.
Another chopper on my left, now I have a chopper and a bomb and I need to
get both of them, fast.

Another suggestion is for enemies to take multiple hits, maybe only 3 at
max.

another suggestion is for things other than choppers all together, like a
plain just doing a fly by and dropping a bomb. It wouldn't be very realistic
the way the game runs right now because he'd snap from place to place not
moving with a pan unless you did some stuff to it but the hitting him would
be the same, but you better hit him before he goes off the screen, and if
you get him fast enough, you won't have that bomb to contend with.

that's all for now

 Hi.
Yeah pricy has it pegged, I bought an alienware laptop, 2.2ghz
 core2duo
processor and 2gb ram, had them put windows xp on it. over 2000
 dollars.
It's fast and stuff but I don't like the keyboard and it certainly
 isn't
optimal for gaming, missing the right control key, the delete key is
 where
the right control should be, the top right hand is num lock, and they
 got
the ctrl and fn keys backwards, fn is on the very bottom left, and ctrl
 is
just to the right of that, I think ctrl should be on the outside.
 Course,
 a
desktop wouldn't matter right? Here's a fact though, audiogaming
 doesn't
take as much computer as videogaming does I believe. I'm running audio
 games
fine and dandy, and I like it better too, on a soney Vaio here, it's a
1.66ghz core2duo, it has 2gb of ram, and it's running vista business.
 It
sells for about 1800 dollars. As for a computer that'll run audio games
good. My guess is almost anything you can buy today. Dual core
 processor
based pcs are selling dust cheep they say because the cpu manufacturers
 want
everyone to switch to their quad cores. anything you find on the shelf
 that
runs fast and is in your price range and stuff will do I reckon. Maybe
 one
thing to look out for is that it has a good offboard sound card, one
 that's
actually a dedicated expansion card rather than one built into the
motherboard. Creative makes excellent sound cards and I'm told turtle
 beach
does too. I'm satisfied with Realtech too but I believe they're lesser
 in
quality than creatives. To know whether you're using an offboard or
 onboard
sound card, check out the back of the pc, is the soundcard jacks at the
bottom of the tower placed in one of those long horizontal rectangular
indentions? or are there like 3 or 6 jacks on the large rectangular
 part
back there where all the other ports are, UUSB, PS2 for mouse and
 keyboard,
etc. Unfortunately, I have found the best way to get a new computer is
 to
just get one you fall in love with and that has good specks and try it,
 if
it doesn't satisfy, take it back within the return period.
