Re: [Audyssey] Help with TTS.
Hi James, As far as I am aware SAPI 5.5 is for Windows 8 and up. Unless someone knows any different if you want SAPI 5.5 you have to upgrade to Windows 8. I certainly have not found any setup package for Vista and Windows 7 for the SAPI 5.5 libraries and voices. Definitely not for XP as that is about to be officially dropped in like six months. Cheers! I should also add that if you do want to buy a voice I'd do ivona. and only that because you also donate to nvda and I think the klango network to. However, if you are willing to spend a little cash for a decent voice there are a lot of choices out there. First, there are the Cepstral voices from http://www.cepstral.com which are fairly decent for games as well as screen readers. There is the Ivona TTS voices from http://www.ivona.com which are a bit expensive, but are among the best sounding voices I have ever used. There are the Cereproc voices from http://www.cereproc.com which aren't too bad. These aren't my favorite, but are worth checking out. Bottom line, in my opinion unless you are willing to pay $30 or so for a high quality voice you aren't going to find any better than Anna for free for Windows 7. Windows 8 has some better SAPI voices, but that's going to cost you more than just buying some third-party voices from the sites listed above. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Help with TTS.
Hi Josh, Don't forget about Cereproc. They sell voices for Windows 7 as well, and they aren't bad. Although, Cepstral or Ivona would be my personal choice for a place to purchase voices from. In addition the AT&T voices can be purchased from Nextup for a fair price as well, and those work with Windows 7 32-bit just fine. They just haven't been updated for Windows 7 64-bit, and I'm not sure AT&T is going to. Re: [Audyssey] Help with TTS for Windows.
Hi Michael, Do you Mean Microsoft Anna?? If so when was the last time you remember it working? The reason I ask is if you can remember the last time it was working you may be able to fix the problem by running a Restore Point and roll back to an earlier restore point which may or may not fix the problem. The only other option here is to insert your Windows 7 DVD in your drive and have it repair your installation of SAPI. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't offer a download of the SAPI 5.4 voices and components separately so its tricky to fix it if and when it gets broken. Of course, now that I remember it the delusrlex.exe program on Jim Kitchen's site also might resolve the problem too. Hello. I am using Windows 7 32bit, and I need to be able to use the TTS engine that comes with 7 so I can play Entomb. However my TTS does not start talking when the game comes up.
