Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
Hi Jay, Yeah, wasn't that cool back in the dos days when if the programmer did it right all text on the screen would be read by the screen reader. I miss being able to program like that. But, so, that is why I now use the sapi5 text to speech engine. Just went from putting text on the screen to sending it to the sapi5 speech engine. Of course one wants to make sure to program in the review mode stuff. BFN Jim C:\Dos . . . C\Dos\Run . . . Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
Hi Tom, I don't know what site you're talking about, but yes, the game isn't available to download or purchase directly from the Future Boy website. I ended up writing to the General Coffee Film Productions Company, who produce the game along with the Hugo text adventure engine (their website is www.generalcoffee.com/) to inquire about the game. They gave me an email address to purchase the game using PayPal, then emailed me some download instructions. If you want the demo version of the game, you can get it at the Interactive Fiction Archive, www.ifarchive.org/, in the games/hugo folder. Hope this helps. Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
hmmph interesting. I was able to buy it through their cafepress system. Here is the issue. its not needed but I'd create an account first at www.cafepress.com Reason being I tried to order first and got a message that my credit card was not able to be processed 2 days after it supposedly went through. The bank did charge me for the stuff even though I had not processed anything. An email to gc got me that it hadn't. I created the account manually, logged in to it and then things went to plan. weird. [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
Hi, I purchased the text adventure game Future Boy last week, and so far am enjoying it. However, I think I'm in an unwinnable position, and may need to restart. Does anyone have, or know where I can find, a walkthrough for this game? I've tried looking on the IF Archive in their Solutions folder, but there's nothing there. Thanks for your help. Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
Hi Kelly Here you go, it's a pdf guide but still pretty readable. Future boy is excellent, I purchased it back in 2004 and finished it in about 6 hours. It has an excellent built in hint system. I don't remember where it is but there is a menu in the game where you can turn off the graphics and have text only but you still have to use the jaws or other screen reader review cursor to read the text. There is also a setting to allow the things you can ask characters about to appear as numbers so you can press the number of the question you want and press enter. The music, sound and voice acting really adds to the atmosphere. Just wish there was a way for a screen reader to auto read the text responses after pressing enter. I miss those old dos screen readers that just worked. I think unfortunately if you are using jaws, the newer versions work worse with reading the future boy options menus than whatever version was out in 2004. http://www.spyglassguides.com/guides/future-boy.htm Have fun Jay -- Jay Pellis http://blindjay.onlinestoragesolution.com -- From: Kelly Sapergia ksaper...@sasktel.net Sent: Wednesday, December 23, 2009 6:37 PM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy Hi, I purchased the text adventure game Future Boy last week, and so far am enjoying it. Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
Is it a standalone interactive fiction game? If not, what client software do you make use of? Winfrotz TTS still doesn't want to work on my XP machine since I reloaded it, and never really found any other IF client software that worked too well otherwise.
