Re: [Audyssey] off topic: qbasic compiler
You will need a compiler, Visual Basic would be your best bet, from Microsoft's site. It does cost a good handful of cash, though. So watch that. I have Ms Vb.net, and I think its definitely worth it if you don't have to pay anything, because there is a free version of VB.net, I believe. The free version has more accessibility issues though, so just giving you a heads up there. Its on the Microsoft Visual Basic website, just try googling it should be in the first three results. Hi, GWBasic can compile and run compiled QBASIC programs for you. You can ddownload it from the BPC website at the following address: http://bpcprograms.com/programs/utilities/dos/gwbasic.zip The site also contains basic getting started tips that you can find on the support page. Re: [Audyssey] off topic: qbasic compiler
downloaded the compiler. Do I just run the .exe file and then type all my code in to it line by line by line just hitting enter after each line? If so, then how do I run/compile all of my code/make a .exe file out of it? Thanks much, Nick Or, if I don't insert the code directly in to the compiler, then how do I import for example a .txt file full of code for compiling? Re: [Audyssey] off topic: qbasic compiler
Nick, To compile a program, I think you need the -c switch. Assuming gwbasic is in c:\gwbasic, and your source is in that same directory, go to run on your start menu, and type cmd. Hit ENTER, and type: cd c:\gwbasic Then type: gwbasic -c source This will take your source file and compile it into source.bas. To run a compiled program: gwbasic output.bas If -c does not work you can look up gwbasic syntax on a search engine (I haven't used it in a while but this should help you get started.) Re: [Audyssey] off topic: qbasic compiler
Hi nick, Good question. I don't think there are any good QBasic compilers any more. Not any that have been updated in the passed 10 to 15 years or so. QBasic has pretty much been replaced by Microsoft's Visual Basic language and compilers. Good luck if you find one. Smile. Re: [Audyssey] off topic: qbasic compiler
Hi Tristan, Basic and Visual Basic are two different programming languages. What Nick was asking about is something similar to QBasic for Dos. Visual Basic .NET is something completely different. As far as your claim that Visual Basic Express has more accessibility issues than the commercial version that's false. I've used both without issue, and the are the same accessibility wise. What accessibility issues are you speaking of? Thanks. Tristan B wrote: You will need a compiler, Visual Basic would be your best bet, from Microsoft's site. Re: [Audyssey] off topic: qbasic compiler
well in the old days there was something called powerbasic, there may still be a windows version. www.powerbasic.com was the site. although honestly I don't know why you would keep that going, origional basic is not really used now.
