hello Mich and Lindsay, Thank you for geting back to me. I only know the kitchen sink games so I am not very good at recommending anything. I am quite new to games for visually impaired people. Mich, if you are interested and you would like to try second life, there is an application fairly accessible with NVDA the link is http://radegast.org it is a client a little like the cube for twitter. You create an account on sl, and then download this software and sign in with it. There is a blog too, when I find it, if you are interested, I can post a link to it too. They have a place called virtual ability for disabled people. Hi Kriss, there are quite a few games for the iphone, but I really struggle with touch screnes, so mainly stick to the computer. At the moment I'm adicted to Swamp by Aprone. It's a zombie first-person shooter where you walk around a city during a zombie invasion. The really cool thing is it's multi-player so you can talk to people via the radio as you play. Lori and list, on the iOS Ap Store there is a free tutorial app from LookTel which not only gradually introduces iOS gestures at your own pace but also makes this fun by using games to do so. The first (currently available) portion of the tutorial has two simple games in it and covers several iOS gestures: • single tap • double tap • split tap • flick left and right (for navigation) • flick up and down • the rotor gesture • the two-finger double tap the two games are a very simple Basketball game and a game which we just call Safe. IN the Basketball game, the player flicks down, anywhere on the screen to dribble the basketball and then flicks up to shoot it. The more you dribble, the more likely you are to make a basket. Make five baskets and you win! :) The second game finds you opening a Safe to retrieve your fortune! YOu touch two fingers to the screen and turn your hand as if turning a large knob. This turns the dial on the safe's combination lock and numbers are announced as you pass them. A tone plays when you pass each correct number for the combination. When you hear the tone, you flick up or down to enter that number into the lock and a new number is then available for you to find. Once you enter three correct numbers, the safe opens and your fortune awaits! :) the second installment of the VoiceOver tutorial which is now in development, will have a more immersive game. I won't give away the details but suffice it to say that the game experiences will gradually become more and more like actual audio game experiences while helping both beginning and advanced iOS users to easily become very comfortable with iOS VoiceOver gestures in really cool and fun ways!!! Hi Sharon. Desent into madness is indeed fun, - but sadly I don't believe it was ever finished for %100. thus, there are stil known bugs such as those you identify yourself. I've not heard of any fixes to the program unfortunately, which is a shame (particularly about the saving issue). As to other games, if you enjoy quick sterrio targiting and other exercises you could considder the games from bavisoft found at http://www.bavisoft.com/chillingham.htm These are commercial, and only available on Cd, however they do have high quality sounds, and while they feature sterrio targiting it tends to be of the more general left right center sort, rather than the more complex sort which may be problematic with your hearing issues. You might also be interested in the trivia games catagory, sinse some word games which are based on deffinition have been classified as trivia. While I admit the database isn't precisely complete, someone! aka me, has been rather lazy in updating it, I think the word games catagory is pretty comprehensive. Hi Michael. I'm afraid the audio games net website needs quite a bit of updating, and worse, I'm one of the people supposed to be updating it, lol! Games wise, well it depends upon what your into. If you enjoy stratogy games like Trek 2000 and Lone wolf, you might like the free startrek final conflict game from Tom ward and Usa games found at http://www.usagames.us/ Not to mention the ever expanding and fantastic free war game, sound rts (rts standing for real time stratogy game), found at http://jlpo.free.fr/soundrts/ which also has the ability to compete online against others if you want, as do the stratogy games from vip gameszone galaxy ranger and lords of the Galaxy, from vip gameszone (though those aren't free), found at http://vipgameszone.com/index.php If you don't mind using a screen reader, you might also fancy smugglers 3 (and soon smugglers 4), two exelent space stratogy and combat games found at http://www.nielsbauergames.com/index.html those are probably the best of what I can think of stratogy wise, though of course there are many more types, including simulation, racing, space combat action, platform games, full 3d first person shooter games and sports, - just give us an idea of what you fancy. Btw, you might also considder registering on the audiogames.net forum, as it's the other major place for discussing games.
