[gentoo-dev] Package up for grabs: net-misc/connman-gtk

2024-05-15 Thread Marek Szuba

Dear everyone,

After over a decade of standing behind Connman, I have in recent months
come to the conclusion that there are now better (or at least
better-documented) network-management solutions available for all of my
use cases. As a result, I no longer use net-misc/connman-gtk .

This is essentially a zero-maintenance package - it has seen very, very
few bugs since having been added to the tree, it continues to work fine
for the time being, and I have just bumped it to EAPI 8. However, it has
currently got no upstream (the relevant GitHub repository got archived
in 2021) so if/when changes to its dependencies or to the toolchains
eventually render it non-functional, the future maintainer will likely
be on their own. Were I still there at that point in time I would
probably just last-rite it, then again perhaps there is someone here
able and willing to give this tool a fighting chance!

Hi,

Due to the maintainer being retired, the following package is now
looking for a new maintainer:

  net-p2p/eiskaltdcpp

It has a few build failures reported. Overall, it is at the latest
upstream release but it's from 2021, and there seems to be some actibity
in the upstream repository since.

2024-04-14 Thread Michał Górny
Hi,

The following package needs a new maintainer:

  dev-vcs/git-filter-repo

The test suite fails with modern git versions, it's entirely possible
that the whole package is broken. The upstream repository has barely
seen any activity since 2022, and the bug reports remain unanswered.
Also, the package needs py3.12 and PEP517 ports.

I have dropped the package now because of upstream behavior in recent

[gentoo-dev] Package up for grabs: dev-util/cvise

2023-11-07 Thread Michał Górny
Hello,

dev-util/cvise is now looking for a new maintainer.

It is fairly low maintenance package. It's in need of a version bump
right now, as well as testing with llvm:17 and python:3.12 (both seem to
work fine).

The main problem with it is that it happens to hit some bugs in sys-
devel/clang[debug] that cause crashes, and I don't really have the
resources to rebuild sys-devel/clang just to test this one package.
Note that these are actually upstream bugs of clang and not cvise. They
haven't been fixed for years because big tech just doesn't care that
clang sometimes crashes on random code.

2021-12-15 Thread Nils Freydank
Hi everyone,

pdfpc is a nice presentation tool to show PDFs and a presenter screen with
notes etc[1].

With version 4.5.0 upstream startet to use webkit-gtk and has no intention
to make this optional[2]. I use a Qt-based desktop, have no interest to build
another browser engine for a single tool and didn't use pdfpc in over a year
(only tested it to verify that it's still working). Therefor I step down as
it's proxied maintainer.

The only open bug right now is a stabilization request[3]. Releases are not
often (in the order of one or two per year).

[gentoo-dev] Package up for grabs: app-misc/mime-types

2021-12-15 Thread Dirkjan Ochtman
Hi all,

Despite my best intentions to get around to fixing this up and doing a
good job of gathering assorted collections of mime types/extensions
into something great for Gentoo users, I haven't gotten very far in
doing so. If anyone else wants to pick this up, that would be great.

Some open bugs that are deserving of attention:

2021-10-05 Thread Sam James
Hi,

Putting app-text/mupdf up for grabs because I've not used it for a while.

It needs a version bump (1.19.0) and some minor patches rebasing.

Please note that anyone taking this over should keep an eye on upstream's
git occasionally to look for security relevant patches.

Hey, the following package is up for grabs:
games-util/xboxdrv

Haven't used this in years. Last upstream release was in 2015. Even
upstream recommends to use the kernel built-in XPAD module. This package
has one scons-related bug open, and it was recently broken by a scons
update. Upstream started porting it to cmake, but never finished it.
Seems abandoned and unnecessary. Please take it if you need it, I'll
look into last-riting it before christmas otherwise.

[gentoo-dev] Package up for grabs: app-editors/retext (and dev-python/markups)

2021-07-18 Thread Nils Freydank
Hi all,

I'm stepping down as the proxied maintainer of the graphical markdown editor
app-editors/retext and it's dependency dev-python/markups because I didn't use
it in a long period and have not enough time to test it thoroughly.

Upstream releases are infrequent and retext has no open bugs and is stable.
Future maintainers could e.g. support the python project with bumping markups
and its deps and clean up the old retext stable version 7.1.0, keeping 7.2.1
(I was often not fast enough - kudos mgorny for speed-bumping without
breackage!).

Technically, it's not a high traffic package. It's pending version bump

Hi,

I already have app-editors/vis with a dependency on lua 5.2+ so I can
take it if no one else takes it over in let's say two weeks. (I'm open
for co-maintainance btw)

Only thing is that right now my prosody setup isn't using the ebuild

tip/trunk). At least it's likely that I'll just keep using prosody
so a serious while.
