Yes, I can reproduce this. Please go to bugzilla.gnome.org and open a
bug-report for it. Please add detailed informations about the locale
settings you use, especially the encoding.

[Gimp-user] Dragging tool bar crashes 1.3.15 in Japanese

2003-06-20 Thread Eric Pierce
Anyone else experience this?

I use a Japanese environment. With 1.3.15, whenever I try to drag the
tool bar to dock under the main gimp window, gimp crashes. Here's the
error.

(gimp-1.3:2598): Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkwindow.c: line 526
(gdk_window_get_parent): assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

This doesn't happen when I run 1.3.15 in English. It works fine.
Anything to do w/2-byte vs. 1-byte fonts?

Thanks and looking good elsewise,

Ditto here too! I just joined, and then saw that message and was
concerned...Carol, did somebody hassle you about your efforts to set up
a Wiki for Gimp? You sounded very upset in your letter.

I took a look at the Wiki. Looks neat! I would recommend ignoring the
critics of your project for now -- I think the Wiki is a good idea since
it makes it so easy for people to add their own hints and tips. It's not
replacing or blocking any pre-existing tutorials to my knowledge, so I
don't see why anyone would complain...but, who knows? There are some
crazy types out there in Cyberland. Disasters for new users? *blinks*
It's a graphics program...not a plane's autopilot program (although,
with scripting...who knows...?). I have trouble imagining anything worse
than someone closing their picture without saving their work happening.
If that's a disaster in their lives...well, I envy 'em. If that was the
worst thing to happen to me in a day, I'd be psyched. ;)

I don't really know you yet...I've only been on this list for a week or
so, but I can already tell that you really care about Gimp and want it
to succeed. So, I for one would like you stay aboard. And, "Don't let
the turkeys get you down" as they say. :)

It works for me. Please check which key is bound to the "Zoom In" in

Niether the '+' or '=' keys work to zoom in. the '-' key works fine to
zoom out.

Kind regards

Jim,

The patent on LZW has only expired in the United States. It is still
valid well into the next year in Europe and certain Asian countries.

More than its use with GIF, I am glad that the patent on LZW is expiring.
It is a useful dictionary based algorithm that has been used in several
specifications such as PDF, PostScript, TIFF, V.42bis and compress.

It is working, we just changed the default key shortcut from '=' to
'+'. If you don't like this, you can enable Dynamic Keyboard Shortcuts
in the Preferences Dialog and reconfigure the keybinding.
