[Gimp-user] Website updates for 2.2 release
Hello everyone, So time has come to start thinking about the information provided on the website before the 2.2 release is out. The first thing that is needed is some information on how to update from 2.0 to 2.2 and how to have 2.0 and 2.2(-preX) installed side-by-side. This is a great time for everyone that wants to help with the website to come forward and help. If you are interested then join the gimp-web list and help to start discussions and even help with the information on the website. As all may understand what the main reason is for the updates is to keep up-to-date with the application itself and so we need to start thinking about making 2.0 information into 2.2. At the moment I do not have a list of TODOs but I am sure with this mail that we all can start discussing the different places that needs updating and what would be good to add to the site. Right now we just need to start thinking about the information that needs updating and not adding new sections etc. So please come with ideas and help us to get a even better website then it was before. [Gimp-user] Website maintainer proposal
Hello GIMP lists, This was my first attending at a GIMPCon meeting. First of all I would like to thank everyone that was able to come. I would also like to thank David Odin for a nice picture of me, I usually don't become good in photos but the one he took is really nice. So thanks. :) So on to the topic of this mail. At the first meeting we discussed the website and who to contact about things conserning the site, I said that I was willing to give it all a try and try to bring things up again. Because of this proposal it would be good to hear what everyone else that did not attend at the meeting thinks about this. If no onehas objections against this, then I will try my best to get things going with the website. Anyhow, I hope that all of you who attended at GUADEC-2004 had a lot of fun. Thank you once again for a great time. Re: [Gimp-user] First bugreport
ons 2004-04-07 klockan 21.33 skrev Khiraly: So Im interesting, where can I report my backtraces of coredumps? Which information would be include? And this is useful?(so you like if I report some backtrace in the future?) Have you looked at the websites Bugs section to find this out? Because there is a lot of different ways to do bug reports and many things are explained there. Example: I select the text tool. I go in the options, and select a font. But I have many, so I scroll down and look for others. Sometime it crash the gimp without any message. System: Debian SID, I have installed gimp from package. Debian is using Sid for unstable releases. Which means that this can be a bug in the package. Only developers should actually use Debian Sid because it is unstable. And before doing a bug report try to get the file from www.gimp.org and compile it to see if the same thing happens when using the source. [Gimp-user] Path tutorials
Hello everyone, Today I uploaded a new update of my website. The updates might not be big but at least they should do some help. There has been questions about Path Tutorials both on the developers list and the user list, so I thought I might give it a try. Right now I have two tutorial for the GIMP 2.0 paths and they are located at: http://scizzo.gimp.org/gimp/Paths_Basics/ http://scizzo.gimp.org/gimp/Paths_Basics2/ In the second one I have also added a small section that explains some of the new things included in the stroke dialog which I have had a lot of help with from all of the developers. Thank you for helping me do the tutorials and don't be afraid to send me feedback on them. Almost all selections (except rectangular ones) turn out really ugly when storked...here is an example with a circle http://www.geocities.com/hgezim/stroke.html Please help me out. Thanks in advance, Gezim p.s.: I also tried it with the paint brush but the results were not better. Hello, There are many ways to make a stroke to the selection. First one is the way to use Stroke selection. The other one is: 1. Make a selection. 2. Fill it with the color you want the border to be 3. Go image-Selection-Shrink and in that dialog shrink with the 1px if the border is going to be 1px in size. 4. Ctrl+K or image-Edit-Clear This will clear the rest of the color out in the middle of the selection and you should have a border. Don't know if this is what you want though. This looks more like a problem with gqview. IMO it seems like gqview wants to open a _new_ GIMP and run the image in there. I don't think GIMP is the problem with this that might be the reason to why there is nothing about the things you are looking for. Have you asked the same question to the people behind gqview? Maybe they have better answers? IMHO gqview should see that there is a GIMP opened and open it with a new image or something simular. -- Regards Niklas [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Gimp-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
Re: [Gimp-user] TrueType Fonts Question
Hi, I don't really know how the BSD systems works with ttf fonts but this is one way to add ttf fonts to the list as I have done in Debian GNU/Linux anyways: 1. move the fonts to a dir mine is: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ 2. run the command-line: ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale mkfontdir . xset +fp `pwd` xset fp rehash (this will make the truetype archive update the fonts and create the dir for use in X) 3. edit the things I need for the fonts to work in: /etc/X11/XftConfig (I have no real info about the XftConfig though) That is how I have done to create the dir with fonts. You may want to take a look at the Freetype tool for GIMP because in this you can edit the dirs yourself without problems, just go to Configure in the freetype tool and tell the config where you have the fonts that is the /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ dir. This is all I know. But in your case I would check how the KDE installer works with the fonts to install them. I've searched everywhere (including this list's archive) for a fix and the only thing I could find was a site that suggested installing the freetype-0.2 mod? I did this and the install went just fine (after i linked gtk12-config to gtk-config) but these new fonts are still not showing in Gimp. I'm sure that I'm just missing something here (maybe a line in gimprc) but I can't seem to figure out what. Is there anyone on this list that might have experience with this who could help me out? Re: [Gimp-user] Compiling gimp 1.2.3 with gtk+-2.0.x
Hey... I belive that you can't do the compile with gtk+2.0 because GIMP 1.2.3 is not ported for 2.0 of GTK+ the versions 1.3.x is the ported ones to GTK+2.0. So you will either need GTK+1.2 for GIMP 1.2.3 or you get the GIMP 1.3.x version but be warned that the 1.3.x is unstable and is in a big development. So don't expect to much of it. //Niklas On Wed, 2002-04-03 at 13:39, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Is it possible to compile Gimp 1.2.3 with GTK+-2.0.x, or do I have to use one of the latest development versions of the Gimp 1.3.x? I have installed the latest versions of Pango, ATK, PKG-Config, GLib and GTK, but when I try to compile the Gimp the configure script fails because gtk-config is missing. I know that gtk-config is now replaced with pkgconfig which is installed on my system.
