Re: creating patterns

I'm not sure exactly what you mean... I already did patterns, sometime I could save it as *.pat, sometimes not, but I don't know what it's depending of. Could somebody please describe the exact way to create a pattern? What sort of pattern are you trying to create? What will you be using it for? Are you talking about tiling background sorts of patterns or what? Also, I'm not familiar with *.pat. I'd think you'd save a pattern as a standard gif, png, jpg, whatever... --Ben
Re: creating patterns
first it has to be seamless or it looks bad. but you should be able to save as .pat into the gimp pattern directory and then load it up from there to use as fill. i'm not exactly sure what you need to know.
Re: creating patterns
Hi, since it wasn't understandable what wrote, here once more, what I try: I have a JPG-image. I want to save a little part (16px/16px) of it as a pattern (*.pat). This works only sometimes and I don't understand why it doesn't work in most of the cases. If I eg. create a 16/16 selection of the jpg-image, paste it as new and try to save it, the PAT-option is mostly greyed out, so I can't choose it. Therefor I wanted to know the exact way, how to create a *.pat-file out of a part of a jpg-image, hoping to detect an operation-step that I didn't think of before. Hago

...but I bloody don't want to download it. There are those sitting on a t3... Even on a T3, I still don't want to download (well, accept) SPAM just on principle. BTW, I don't like egroups.com for a simpler reason than advertisments. I just prefer .org and .edu domains and think orginizations should shy away from commersial services.
Re: Animations
It says in the gimp manual. In the layers dialogue, save the layer name as foo(200ms) and layer foo will display for 200 miliseconds. Rather simple really.

Fog?
Hi all! I have an image and I want to add fog to it. What's the best method to add a fog-like effect? I thought about channels but I don't know how to get fogs with it. I'm unexperienced. Thank you! --Joachim

Re: compile gimp-1.1.26 (error)
I did make distclean but the same happens. I attached listing (hopefully). Would dropping in the gimp-1.201 blib/lib/Gimp.PM file into the gimp/blib/lib directory cure this or is this not the same gimp.pm that it is looking for ? I didn't fetch my tarball from CVS, I fetched it from ftp://gimp.org/pub/unstable/126 (or similar) so no egeneration errors ! Looking for true type fonts
I have been looking for free true-type fonts, and I have found many web sites out there. The one thing that they have in common is that they have them all listed *individually*, and not one of them (that I have found so far) have all fonts in one big file that I can just download and extract. Plus, most of the ones I have found are *.zip files, and the unzip command doesn't seem to accept a command like "unzip /fonts/*". it says - for each file - caution: filename not matched: /fonts/whatever.zip, and nothing gets extracted. Are there any font archives out there on the web that exists all in one zipped file? Or, how can I get the unzip command to allow me to unzip multiple files at once? (I have read the man page, but to no avail). Thanks very much in advance. -- Rick Rosinski http://rickrosinski.com [EMAIL PROTECTED]
