[Gimp-user] Scroll buttons
Despite what others have said, this is nothing to do with your window manager. It is entirely controlled from the theme you are using. The simple way to get back to having the stepper at the normal end of the scrollbar is to switch back to using the default theme : EditPreferencesTheme and select Default. However, if you wish to continue using this theme you will have to edit the rc file(s) associated with it to allow the use of the backward stepper and not display the secondary backward stepper: GtkScrollbar::has-backward-stepper = 1 GtkScrollbar::has-secondary-backward-stepper = 0 Kevin Thanks so much for the replies akovia, Jernej Simončič and Kevin Payne. I will start with changing the Gimp theme back to the default and work from there. I’ll report back on any successes or failures. -- 127markaz (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

Thanks so much for the replies akovia, Jernej Simončič and Kevin Payne. I will start with changing the Gimp theme back to the default and work from there. I’ll report back on any successes or failures. Interesting. Started in Gimp with Edit Preferences Theme only to find that there was no default theme. I do remember that there used to be a Small theme located there as well. Perhaps this IS the problem. Then restored Windows back to the default theme and there was NO EFFECT on the scroll buttons in Gimp. If I were just to re-install Gimp (not uninstall it first) to regain the Default and Small themes, would it delete the current themes in the themes folder? -- 127markaz (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Scroll buttons
Strangest thing...I went to scroll a pic to the left and the scroll button wasn't there. Its positioned has moved next to the right scroll button (pic). The same is true for the scroll up button. It's moved next to the scroll down button. How do I move them back to their proper positions? Using 2.6.8. * 127markaz for...@gimpusers.com [08-12-14 14:53]: GIMP does not get to choose it's display (or window) manager, you do. I use KDE4 on openSUSE-Factory and see nothing resembling your example. But I have 2.8.10 so it may have changed. I thought you were referring to a Gimp function. Did a Windows restart to no avail. Is the window in 2.8.10 substantially different? -- 127markaz (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Vista style glassy buttons
The internet is replete with video tutorials on how to create shiny or glassy Vista-style buttons primarily using PhotoShop. As a user of Gimp for the past 8 years I searched here and other Gimp sites for a WRITTEN TUTORIAL, not videos. Over the years I lost what I thought was the best step-by-step tutorial and would like to find a suitable replacement on how to make these buttons. Does anyone know if a non-video tutorial exist on this site or other Gimp specific site that explains the creation of these buttons.? Any help pointing me in the correct direction would be greatly appreciated. I have an extremely abbreviated version of what I used before (attached) but after such a long hiatus, it looks Greek to me. [Gimp-user] Converting jpegs to pngs
127markaz for...@gimpusers.com wrote: Make sure that the image has an alpha channel and that there are transparent parts before exporting. That was it! In checking while saving as a .png, the save transparent pixels was grayed out. Took the original .jpg and clicked on Layers Transparency Add alpha channel and erased some of the background to confirm. No more whiteonly transparency. In all these years I suppose I've been lucky with the many .jpg pics I've rendered because I've never encountered this before. I can't begin to thank everyone for your rapid responses and helping me learn something and resolving this perceived problem. Again, thank you very much. [Gimp-user] Converting jpegs to pngs
It used to be that I could take any ,jpg file, then save it as a .png so that I would have a transparent background in order to render the pic. Now, for whatever reason, when converted the background remains white. What setting has changed that I can no longer get a transparent background after the .png conversion?
