[Goanet] Well Done People Of Velim

2012-02-29 Thread soter

Catholics have only themselves to blame for the recent problem in Velim Church.
Because of some black sheep among the priests, the catholic laity by their
irresponsible public criticism have fed into the opposition propaganda that
campaigning takes place from church pulpits. Members of other communities are
given the impression that election campaigns are conducted by minorities in
Churches and Madrasas. Naturally a non-christian police officer would be led
to believe that any political information could be got from the parish priest.
Secondly, what has happened to all the catholic teaching of tolerance and
compassion? The use of force if required must be proportionate so as to ward
off the danger. It is a sad day for the Church in Goa.

Re: [Goanet] Why I thought of Ponnje when I was in New Orleans, recently

2012-02-29 Thread J. Colaco jc
Rajan P. Parrikar parri...@yahoo.com wrote:

[1] There is no denying the positive influence of the Portuguese on Goa.

[2] I yield to no one in my denunciation of the wanton destruction,
brutality and religious bigotry they wrought in their early years.
(...) it is equally true that the latter Portuguese mellowed a good
deal.

[3] It is undeniable that the aspects of culture that are unique to or
characteristic of Goa and Goans came out of the crucible provided by
the Portuguese

[4] Panjim, the most beautiful city (no longer, alas - thank you
Indian for NOTHING) in the subcontinent in recent times, came to be so
because of the Portuguese. Any Hindu, ghati or Goan, denying the
obvious positives of the ex-colonialists should be laughed out of
town.

COMMENT:

I am on the same page as Rajanbab.

Only an ostrich will deny the atrocities of the early days of
Portuguese colonialism in Goa. A cousin of that ostrich will also be
in denial of Hindu and Muslim atrocities in Goa at (and before) that
time period. Not that one evil act justifies another but it needs
to be stated.

We cannot change the past and we cannot revise it either - not with
mythology and not with 'revisionist history' - a speciality subject of
the BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi. This is the sort of mentality which
creates the Vandals of Fontainhas and the Katlick producers of the
VideoCD.

I trust you have noted how SILENT Sandeep Heble has been and still is
on those two topics. Whitewash Revisionism, anyone?

It is best, both for our own troubled souls and for the betterment of
our community interests that we just accept the facts as they are i.e.

a: YES, Hindus brutalised other Hindus (the caste system being just
the tip of the iceberg).
b: YES, Hindu and Muslim 'kings' took turns in ravaging Goa and the
women living in Goa before the Portuguese arrived .
c: YES, Hindu and Muslim 'kings' took turns in destroying each others
places of worship in Goa before the Portuguese arrived.
d: YES, the Portuguese Catholic colonialists destroyed both Muslim and
Hindu places of worship - in the early years, and used the unHoly
Inquisition to wipe out their political and land enemies (under the
cloak of religion)

e: YES, Goa has been ravaged since the Barath of 1961. and
continues to be so.

My crystal ball tells me the following:

Never mind the 'Honeshty' nonsense and the Manifesto H2S
Whoever wins this March 2012 election, Goa will continue to be
revaged.

Anybody wishes to disagree?

jc

ps Of interest:

* Those who complain incessantly of the European enslavement of
Africans conveniently forget to remember the African enslavement
of other Africans which made the European slave trade possible.

* Those who wax eloquently about the Shining or Mahan Bharat while
bemoaning the alleged dismemberment of Bharat, conveniently forget to
remember that the subcontinent was (antes 1947) a fractured place
which was eventually brought together (like the former Yugoslavia) by
force and Indirian coercion.

* Our 'buddy' Aurangzeb justified the destruction of Hindu temples
because ' they were centres of prostitution'.

Re: [Goanet] Another racket rears its ugly head at GMC

2012-02-29 Thread Tony de Sa
JC
Dear Tony,

I know the following for a fact:

1: Doctors are being given gifts by 'drug representatives'.
2: These gifts come in all sizes and shapes.
3: Some doctors - in positions of influence - are even known to demand
the 'gifts'

4: Yours truly does NOT accept even a glass of water from the pharma-reps

5: Some of us who belong to the No Free Lunch group have managed to
get the Pharma Companies to publicly list these gifts (at least in the
US). Please access: http://www.propublica.org/series/dollars-for-docs

6: It is upto other NGOs in other countries to take this baton for
their own areas.

AS FAR AS THE 'CASE' described by Tony is concerned

7: Before you take the next step, please ascertain the facts.

8: If there is reason to suspect that this is going on, Think about
how one can proceed on a 'criminal complaint' about the matter.

9: There are several issues including: Theft and Cheating by way of
Kick-Back.

10: Some democratic countries have Anti Kick-Back and Qui Tam
provisions (whistleblower)

jc
ps: I hear from a number of individuals that funds are handed over to
certain admin-based physician(s) to 'guarantee' a patient's admission
to hospital. This is disgusting. Once again ..Thank You Barath!

Dear Dotor,

It makes me glad to know that there are ethical and principled doctors and
that you have been among the foremost in discouraging unethical medical
practices.

With regard to the case I have cited, the information is 10o p.c. true
because the person who discovered the racket confronted the doctor who
'confessed'.

Point is the person who uncovered the racket also works in a field allied
to the medical profession and he fears that action against the doctor will
adversely affect his company.

However he has warned the doctor that if such instances are repeated, he
will go public!

The things happening in the med profession as outlined in your last para
are indeed disgusting.

[Goanet] Why accept Rs.1000 every 5 years when you can take it every month?

2012-02-29 Thread JoeGoaUk
Why accept Rs.1000 every 5 years when you can take it every month?

You mean, 1,000 every month?
Yes, virtually, it is like free money, upto Rs. 4000,00,000 (40 crores) to
give away per month

If you are a joint family with one sasumai (mother in law) and say
3 suno (Daughter-in-laws), your household could grab upto 6,000 per month.

It’s like earning from home, no telephone or computer or vehicle required.
No initial money deposit involved. No sales, no canvassing no telemarketing etc
Money just come into your bank every month.

Free money, absolutely for nothing?
Come on what’s the catch?

You have to be a married woman (widows included)
In other words, you have to be a housewife
All are included – Chief minister’s wife if any, his daughter-in-laws, Corrupt
Babu’s wives, dirty police Wives etc etc

Hey, that’s not fair?
What about us, I mean househusbands etc

If you own a vehicle (anyone male female for that matter), you are a winner too
If average usage per vehicle per day say 3 litres then total of say 1815,00,000
(18.15 crore) as free money through subsidized petrol per month or for that
matter each two wheeler will save about Rs.1000 per month (assuming average 3
ltr usage per day)

I don’t own a vehicle, what about me?
Well, in that case I am sure, you are using public transport like bus, taxi,
rickshaw, pilot etc
So, saving made on the petrol will definitely reflect in their
respective fare tariff. It's Commonsense.
E.g. If a taxi charged you Rs. 400 to drop you from Panjim To Agxi, he should
now charge you say 350

So, here is what you all have to do

Vote for BJP*

Mind you, many housewives in Cortalim constituency are already in for it.

Find our here.
Lot more tempting goodies are on offer..

Housewives
http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoaukextra3/6794201016/sizes/l/in/photostream/

Why dirty your hands by selling your votes?
If the money is what you are really after, follow this safe route

Good luck!

Other stats/assumptions
Base on average going rate per vote is Rs.1000
There are about 5,15,000 female voters
There are about 5.5 lacs registered vehicles in Goa includes about 3.5lacs Two
wheelers
Enhanced DHSS of 2000 to Sasumai included

*small print: Simply Voting for BJP not enough, it is important that BJP forms
next Govt.

[Goanet] SHANTARAM NAIK'S PRESS CONFERENCE (28th Feb. 2012)

2012-02-29 Thread SHANTARAM NAIK

28th Feb.2012

KEY POINTS MADE AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE BY SHRI SHANTARAM NAIK MP,
Secretary AICC and Chief Spokespeson of Goa PCC

Mr Shantaram Naik M.P. ,Chief Spokesperson of Goa Pradesh Congress
Committee said, while addressing a press conference at Congress House
Panaji on Tuesday that Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee did not
say a word as regards special provisions under article 371 of the
Constitution (popularly known as Special status), which is Goa’s basic
demand, during his press conference in Panaji on Monday.

Mr Naik said that media asked questions regarding special status and Mr
Mukherjee answered the same in the context of Special Category which is
a separate demand of Goans under which by Executive Order States are
included in the List of Special Category, which entitles them special
grants, additional funds , special schemes etc.

There are 11 states which enjoy the status of Special Category, namely,
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura,
Mizoram, Sikkim, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarachal.

Mr Mukerjee has that Central Government is meeting Goa’s demand of
additional finances by way of separate packages etc and, at present
National Advisory Council, which decides which states to be included in
Special Category has decided not to include any more States in that
category.

Goa’s key demand is for a Constitutional amendment under article 371 of
the Constition of India to empower Goa Assembly , to enact a
legislation ( which Goa Assembly cannot do without being empowered by
Constitutional Amendment) to bring in restrictions on transfer of land
and other immoveable properties on grounds of duration of residential
requirement in the State, social and economic needs of the State,
environment and public interest, as may be specified by the law.

Land is becoming a scarce commodity more particularly in smaller States.
Land mafia from foreign countries are landing in States like Goa with
tons of money buying huge areas creating social and economic chaos. Some
of the parties are potential enough to buy a whole village in a smaller
State like Goa, Mr Naik said .

Persons in real estate in the country too, are resorting to similar
purchases disturbing the social fabric in the State, he added

Rights existing under the constitution should not be so unfettered so as
to change economic scenario of a smaller State, particularly its
villages, much to the disadvantage of the State and its people.
Anti-social elements which become a part of such uncontrolled
transactions are proving disastrous for a State like Goa, Mr Naik said.

The reason as to why we are insisting on a constitutional backing is
that the State Assembly, had, in the year 2008, enacted a legislation
to amend to Registration Act to authorize State Government to frame
Rules, providing for issuing direction to the sub-registrars, to
refuse registration of certain documents, declared by the government
as being opposed to public policy.

President of India has refused to give assent to the bill of the Goa
government which the Governor of Goa had reserved for the consideration
of the President. A similar bill passed by the Assembly of another State
,it is learnt, was struck down by the Supreme Court.

It is , in these circumstances, that Goa has demanded amendment to
article 371 of the Constitution so that in a few years time we do not
come across a village called Russian Village or Israel Village in Goa.

But media did not ask a question on this aspect or rather media had in
mind this very issue but t the Finance Minister took is as a demand to
include Goa in Special Category which demand comes only next to Special
Provision demand, Mr Naik said.

Mr Naik said that he has been time again mentioning in his press
conferences that there is no provision for “special status” in the
constitution , and that what it contains is special provisions under
article 371. Some people call “ Special Category” as special status and,
some refer to” special provision s under article 371” as special status.

VELIM INCIDENT

Mr Naik said that it was unbecoming of Goa police personnel to go and
knock at the doors of the Parish Priest of Velim at 9 p.m , and
therefore, police have to issue a clarifying statement on this incident.

Mr Naik said that even Chief Electoral Officer has said that the police
have to explain their conduct.

Secondly, if the police are deemed to be on deputation to the Election
Commission then the Commission has to direct the highest authority of
Police in Goa to take appropriate action.

Mr Naik said that since Code of Conduct is in operation , Goa Government
cannot take any action in this regard.

Mr Naik also questioned the action of the police and asked as to how an
FIR could be lodged against the priest, when police themselves have
stated that the priest was trying to pacify the crowd.

[Goanet] Velim under a cloud

2012-02-29 Thread Nelson Lopes
Velim under a cloud
The first raid on the Parish Priest turned out to be a flop show The
attachment of RS 6000= is a sham . What is the legal amount one can
hold in cash and specially the church authorities and under what law
could this amount be attached, other than justify the raid ?Someone
wanted revenge through back door. Priests have never known to be
distributors and agents of candidates and are apolitical. Now an
inquiry at odd hours at the residence of the PP is calculated to stalk
fires of dying embers Is the priest keeper of political conscience of
his parishioners? A Sarpanch and other respectable villagers would
be more appropriate to inquire from. It sure appears to be a game plan
of candidates/candidate or some paid mafioso, to sully the image of
sitting incumbent Who else has the selfish motives to create
disturbances and deflect the blame ? Concentrate on the cause and not
the effect. These negative tactics will only strengthened the resolve
of the voters to reinforce the positive and voters are mature enough
to see through the diabolic plot The voters are utterly disgusted
with the authorities trying to justify in vain official duty, uncalled
for conduct ,at odd hours, at odd places The authorities will have to
own their share of blame in this sordid drama unfolded exclusively in
the Velim Constituency
Velim constituency has brought about maximum changes in aspiring
candidates, peacefully through ballot without resorting this type of
subterfuge and cunning. The representatives of this constituency have
been Roque Santan Fernandes, Dr Alvaro Loyola Furtado, Mario Vaz,
Manuel Fernandez, Adv Ferdino Rebello, Adv. Leo Velho, Adv Farel
Furtado, Eng Fillipe Neri Rodrigues, al with distinguished background
in Education, professions, social standing and passion for social
commitment Over the years, we do not remember in particular details of
, their praise worthy contributions that have left indelible mark on
the Constituency Any change will be best decided intelligently by the
matured voters in their best interest It is wishful thinking that
people will be led by debased propaganda, other than the ability of
candidates to deliver and represent the voters of this enlarged
Constituency

[Goanet] PM Manmohan Singh in Goa...

2012-02-29 Thread JoeGoaUk
It was Congress Party Election Rally at Sanquelim today on 29.2.12

All was not well with this Public meeting..

Maharastra Ministers speech went well
So did Subash Shirodkar, Pratapsingh Rane, NCP Praful Patel and CM Digambar
Kamat.
The last was Our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, within 2 minutes of
his speech the entire sound system gone silent and it was only
restored 30 minutes later. In the mean time 1/4 of the crowd gone home
It was really a embarrassing moment.

Digambar Kamat repeated same thing from Margao Rally
e.g. Calling BJP Bonddolam, Bridges, Waching Porns on mobiles,
Rs.1 lac to girl Child when 18 etc

PM's speech too was not that impressive, most was repeated from
the previous speakers e.g.
Nehru gave freedom, Indira gave Opinion poll, Rajive gav Statehood,
Sonia gave 200 crores for Goa's Golden Julbili Celebrations etc

Crowd was massive though!

[Goanet] GOAN MUSIC - KONKANI MUSIC

2012-02-29 Thread MD
GOAN MUSIC - KONKANI MUSIC
Goan's simply love music. Music is an integral part of every Goans
life. In Goa it covers a broad spectrum, from Portuguese music to
Techno to Rave and the now the (in) famous Goa Trance. The local radio
station AIR (All India Radio) mostly plays music in Konkani, Hindi and
English. Sometimes when lucky, we may get to hear some Portuguese
music.
Konkani Music
A Dutch priest, Fr. Harve Barzen, is believed to be the first to
introduce Goan's to Western religious music. Later, under the
Portuguese, who conquered Goa in 1510, the knowledge of Western music
was imparted in local parish schools. Though the Goans have derived
their music from the Portuguese, Goan Folk Music is a blend of Western
music and Hindu temple Music. Where the choirmaster (who was also the
Parish school music teacher) played a pivotal role. As a result, much
of Goa's Folk music owes its origins to religious music; many of the
songs are in honour of the 'Virgin Mary'. On the other hand,
'Indian-Konkani' music was principally cultivated in the Shiva
temples, by the devotees of the 'linga', the phallic symbol of Lord
Shiva. There are 'Hindu khels' (drama) and 'Catholics khels'. The
Hindu khels relates to Puranic episodes, such as 'Ram-male' (a
variation of Ramlila staged in northern India). 'Musalam Khel,'
'Ghodemodani', 'Phugdi,' 'Goph,' 'Tonyamel,' (a dance reminiscent of
the Gujarati 'dandya-ras.') and of other religious tales. While the
Catholic (khels) version, has no specific structure. The 'Jagor' was
the most popular Christian folk dance some of the most accomplished
singers, and musicians of Indian classical music, who are products of
Goa's rich music heritage, including Kesarbai Kerkar, Moghubai
Kurdikar and Kishori Amonkar.
Goa is indeed 'an oasis of many cultural incarnations' i.e. a blending
of many cultures.
The main feature of the music and musicians of Goa is their remarkable
adaptability to the changing fortunes of their land. Their ability to
assimilate new idioms, without in any way surrendering, or renouncing,
the traditional forms of expression and styles of composition.
According to a well-known Goan scholar - Mariano Saldanha, 'The Goan
deknni - which many believe is a blend of Hindu and Catholic music -
is derived from dekham, dekhann or dekhinn.' But, then again, there is
Joe Pereira's view -'The deknni, as we know it today, is a dance-song
depicting the life in the Hindu areas on the other side of the river,
other than that of the Christian parts.
The concern with Hindu ways shows the Goan Christians nostalgia for a
lost past. After all, it is often said that scratch a Goan Christian
and you will find a Hindu below. Yet another popular form of Goan
music is the 'dulpod', it is a song of joy, embracing all life (flora
and fauna). The attitude of the poet of 'dulpod' is objective, his
art, is the art of impressionism. This type of song is not much older
than either the 'mando' or the 'deknni.'
The 'Mando,' is a song of passion, born of leisure and civilization,
often having a trivial subject. Anna Jacques composed the popular
Konkani folk song 'Hanv Saiba Poltodi Vetam' more than four hundred
years ago. She was married to a musician, when she wrote this song.
She is also credited with composing many more songs - some 250 of
them, with lyrics musical notations. This was during the time of the
exodus across the Mandovi River, by the residents of Divar Island.
In the 1880s, the often-penniless youth from the parish choir reached
the big Indian Metros - Bombay Calcutta. In search of their
fortunes, and formed small bands. Some of these budding musicians
found their way into the bands of the local British Auxiliary Forces.
Here, they honed their knowledge of Western music. The others found
ready employment with the brass bands that preformed at Hindu and
Parsee wedding processions. In Bombay, most of the organized bands
were established along the route from Dhobi Talao to Princess Street.
But it was only with the arrival of the silent films, that the Goan
musicians found a firm means of employment, in the orchestras of the
theatres. Some Goan musicians were engaged to play at English clubs,
Gymkhanas and Italian restaurants, while others found flavour in the
courts of Maharajas. Though, they all played English tunes, it was
these pioneers who molded Konkani music. This gave it its unique
Western flavour. With the transition to radio, came the most creative
phase for Goan music, Konkani music, was now, accessible to all.
Konkani Music Today:
'Cantaram' (Konkani for songs) have for decades now been taking their
cues from real life. Local Konkani singers are quick to get across
their comments, on men and matters, often within days of the event,
with stunning boldness, criticism and satire. Today, their bluntness
is often directed against politicians and the bureaucracy; and on
occasions against the feminine gender. But, there again, this does not
limit the Konkani musician to securities-scandals,

Re: [Goanet] THE BJP IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE TO CONGRESS @ Floriano

2012-02-29 Thread floriano

Dear Bernard De Souza,

The candidate Julius Pereira is not an internet person.
Julius Pereira is the Goa Su-Raj Party's Candidate. Therefore, the Party has
all the right to defend his actions or comdemn his non-actions.
Julius Pereira has been interacting with the people of Calvin and
commisserating the unnecessary deaths.
Julius Pereira couldn't tell the people of Calvin (some of them who are very
close to the Narvekar) that they should agitate, storm the police station,
storm the CM's residence for a clear probe into the trajedy ( as explained
in Herald website and posted by Cecil Pinto on goanet)
http://www.epaperoheraldo.in/Details.aspx?id=2391boxid=41717328uid=dat=02/26/2012

Julius Pereira didn't want to campaign in Calvin to respect the unnecessary
deaths and the sentiments of the people and in order not to aggravate the
situation. But I have overriden him and we are going into Calvim today to
campaign for CHANGE. As I have said earlier, shutting down carnaval as a
bereavement was one thing, The Elections should have also been shut down.
The Calvim people should have made such noises. The Calvim people must know
that if they boycott the elections, the same fall guy/s will be elected.
Then they must go in hiding for the next five years.

I am not aggressive. I am talking sense. It is the people who must demand
things like a bridge, roads, etc and get them no matter what, from the
pampered MLAs they have been supporting. It is their collective fault for
not working for themselves but WORKING TO MAKE MLAs COREPATTIS, to get
pittance from them as gifts during election time.
The MESSAGE is 'THE PEOPLE MUST SEE THEIR OWN LARGER INTERESTs
(SOCIAL/COLLECTIVE INTERESTS, NOT PERSONAL ONES) AND MAKE THEIR ELECTED
REPRESENTATIVES ANSWERABLE TO THEM and not be stooges.

Julius Pereira, WHEN ELECTED, will move the people completely so that they
get what they need as infrastructure for CALVIM and not PERSONAL BENEFITS.

No offence was meant in my earlier post.

Cheers

Such a defensive / aggressive answer from Floriano to my simple questions
shows insecurity and is a sign of weakness. Additionally, it is a sign of
weakness that the candidate does not answer himself but prefers to hold on
to Floriano's coattails. I wish the candidate good luck!

[Goanet] Who is more communal?

2012-02-29 Thread aaron domnic dmello
With the elections just a few days away, we Goans are once again faced with a
tough choice,
between the corrupt the communal. But developments in the last 2 months have
made me wonder
which is a more communal party. The one whose chief minister decided to cancel
the Good Friday
St. Francis Xavier's feast holidays, or the party whose 2 candidates
indirectly attacked 2
priests?. The alternative to these 2 parties is a STRONG local party.

Not the ones which, as many say, awake from their slumber during elections,
but one which is
there all the days of the year to fight for the right of Goans, THROUGHOUT Goa
 not just in
the South or Salcete! Some may not agree with this, to these people I would
point out the
success of SP BSP in Uttar Pradesh, Akali Dal in Punjab, NC PDP in Kashmir,
DMK AIADMK
in Tamil Nadu even the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Looking at their success I
feel sad that we
in Goa cannot boast of the same.

These parties gave a lot of attention to the affairs of the state sorted
them out,
without having to wait for the high command decision during the time of
National elections aligned with one of the major parties. I know it is too late
for this to happen, but I hope
that in this elections my fellow Goans give a strong verdict indicating a move
towards a
regional party, so atleast by the time of next elections we have a STRONG
regional Goan party

[Goanet] Idiots Against Congress

2012-02-29 Thread SOTER
India Against Corruption has more than proved that they are hired Idiots
Against Congress. The BJP connection was written all over their meetings in

[Goanet] Elitist statement 49(O)

2012-02-29 Thread SOTER
While voters need to be encouraged to vote for candidates in the fray we have
the elite brand ambassadors publicising 49(O) on how to abstain from voting.
Going to the voting booth to vote and standing in a queue with down market
citizens is something that has been below the dignity for elite citizens. For
this bunch of citizens all politicians are useless and all other citizens are
morons and corrupt. Now that they have to vote to show the world they are
finding excuses of spoiling their vote by invoking 49(O).

[Goanet] COLUMN: Heads or Tails? : This farce of good governance vs. corruption (Jason Keith Fernandes)

2012-02-29 Thread Goanet News Service

Heads or Tails? : This farce of good governance vs. corruption

Jason Keith Fernandes

And so it has come to pass, that the contest for the constitution of the
Goa State legislative assembly, has been cast as the choice between
corruption and its alleged polar opposite of good governance. We should
bear in mind, that this ridiculously simplistic and erroneous equation
has been made possible as a result of that tainted agitation of some
months ago, the Hazare drama. This equation is ridiculous not because
the Congress-wallas are lambs bleating at the altar of the common good;
after all, who can deny that they are, almost to the last of them,
wolves. This equation is ridiculous because ‘corruption’ emanates not
from a party, but from the political and executive process in which we
are all immured. Should the BJP be elected, there is no doubt that one
will be witness to similar levels of hand-over-fist looting of the
public treasury. It is hilarious infact, that the BJP can make it
sanctimonious positions when some of its candidates are not just miners,
but builders as well, when some of the individuals contesting on the
BJP-alliance tickets, were in fact indicted in the PAC reported
tom-tomed by Mr. Parrikar.

To certain segments of the population, the BJP’s claim to Good
Governance rests on the unsullied reputation (in matters of graft that
is) of its ‘Chief Ministerial candidate’ Mr. Manohar Parrikar. They
present a list of impressive developmental works that he undertook for
the city of Panjim, both during his stint at CM and subsequently as MLA.
In the course of his term (or was it reign?) as CM too, they point to
the simplicity of his life-style and his blemish-less personal track
record. Commonspeak has it that indeed Mr. Parrikar is above reproach,
not a single paisa entered his personal estate. The same commonspeak
however suggests that his position as CM influenced the coffers of the
Party. On this front, there is a lot of suggestion that indeed, figures
were hiked, and contracts offered to party favourites, so that the party
coffers and favourites might prosper.

The issue that emerges therefore, and one that we should take seriously,
if corruption is being made the issue, is not only of fiscal corruption,
but moral corruption as well. While the above scenario, of using his
public office to benefit the party would come under such scrutiny, one
must also examine the political ideology of the BJP, which in itself is
fairly corrupt. The reference ofcourse is to the saffron agenda of
making India a Hindu state.

Now Mr. Parrikar has been reported to have publicly acknowledged that
the sectarian actions of his previous tenure as CM, was the result of
‘bad advice’. He vows not to repeat this ‘mistake’again. This is a
rather large herring to swallow however. Given the manner in which we
sneer at the ‘uneducated’ persons getting tickets on the Congress train,
one does not expect a focused and educated individual such as Mr.
Parrikar to be so easily swayed by ‘advice’. Perhaps Mr. Parrikar is
using a euphemism, and what he means by advice, is in fact pressure;
from his associates, both from within the BJP as well as his parent
organization, the RSS.

Let us change track for just a moment and have a look at the track
record of the BJP in one of the two states that have been racked by
communal tensions; Gujarat and Karnataka. A recentreport on the
saffronisation in Karnataka in the Tehelka points out that in 2008,
“Once the BJP government was installed, it had a choice between
broad-based development of the state and consolidation of the Sangh
structure. Four years on, it’s obvious which path was chosen. In its
first year itself, the government had given evidence of its agenda.
Bajrang Dal activists attacked churches, with the administration
scarcely taking stern action. The question of whether the government
would rein in extremist elements was answered in the negative.” There
is every fear of such a systematic consolidation of the Sangh structure
taking place in Goa if it comes within the shade of the saffron
umbrella. Hark back to episode, where on the course of his tenure as CM,
government-run schools were handed over to the ‘NGO’ Vidya Bharathi.
Vidya Bharati it turned out was an RSS outfit. An outfit prone to
tailoring the teaching of history towards Hindutva designs, and
cultivating all manner of sectarian myths about non-Hindus. Such actions
are hardly the result of bad advice that one can ignore. It is the
result of a deliberate, calculated policy of the entire Sangh structure
that the BJP is a part of. Such a careful scheme of deliberately
poisoning the social environment of the state and country, cannot be
excluded from the ambit of corruption. On this count, the BJP cannot,
under any circumstance excuse itself from the charge of being corrupt.

There is another count on which when examining the reputation of Mr.
Parrikar,

[Goanet] COMPLAINT FILED SEEKING DISQUALIFICATION OF BJP CANDIDATE GOVIND PARVATKAR

2012-02-29 Thread SOTER
Aires should also look for any deflated affidavit of income as submitted by
Parvatkar to the Communidade of Serula. The income ceiling for Communidade
plots was raised by Parrikar to benefit his chellas in usurping Communidade
land. These are all beneficiaries of the excesses committed against the
Communidade Code and call others bhailo and themselves as United Porvorkar.

[Goanet] Criminal trials instead of elections in Goa

2012-02-29 Thread George Pinto
I had previously written that the March 3 elections results are already known.
The winner is corruption and the loser is Goa and Goans. There is no one to
blame but Goans themselves who keep electing the same set of thieves. Perhaps
this year's silver lining may be the election of a few ethical independents,
although in time they will learn to steal too.

What is true in Goa today is true in much of the rest of the world, but that
should be no solace to a Goan. Powerful corporate business interests, builders,
miners, the military-industrial complex, and other power-centers control
governments at every level and Goa has been abundantly cursed in this respect.
The rich win, the middle-class and poor lose - this is the world we live in.
Amazingly, a large element of the middle-class and poor around the world
support the rich against their own self-interest but that is another story.

Goan politicians (prostitutes) are merely the face of their masters (pimps) who
are responsible for Goa's destruction on various fronts. They get a cut of
every deal. The masters are mega-project builders and miners. They have
destroyed Goan villages, cut forests, polluted the water supply causing
diseases/death, engaged in monumental environmental degradation, facilitated
excess migration into Goa and engage in criminal behavior at every level, etc,
which often benefits non-Goans (including foreigners) and China (mining) at the
expense of Goans. I think for one rupee they would sell their mother, sister,
and daughter (that is the level of their ethics in case you were wondering).
Ok, one rupee may be an exaggeration, in reality probably the sale price would
be 50 paise. Saying India is corrupt should not be Goa's excuse.

Goans are now priced out of their own land (how many local Goans can afford the
flats being built with white money, the fish being sold in the market, etc.).
Most flats are being sold to non-Goans and foreigners. In the normal course of
economic and demographic movement that would be ok, but the entire system is
illegal and geared to be anti-Goan. In some places there are hardly any Goans
visible (Vasco for example). The pimps operate completely in an illegal
environment (show me one mine or mega-building project today which is
completely legal and I will show you real mermaids).

The Goan voter is not innocent in this process, facilitating these crimes by
accepting a lawless state, including condoning the increased separation along
communal (religious) and caste lines. The 3 C's of corruption, communalism, and
the moral fiction of caste are alive and well in Goa. This crazy concoction
drives a failed Goan state.

Instead of elections, Goa should have criminal trials and keep the prisons
busy. Life-sentences for the politicians/builders/miners and lesser sentences
for the voter (accomplices to the crime should be punished too).

GOA, RIP.

THEN WHAT'S

Young lovers (Ruzar Mari) were sitting and chatting in the Margao Municipal
Garden, but were disturbed by the surrounding people passing through and
glancing at them:-

Ruzar: Darling, can I say something?

Mari: Yeah. sure!

Ruzar: Why don't we go a lonely place, far away, so that nobody disturb us.

Mari: Hum.

Ruzar: What happened? what you are thinking?

Mari: Where exactly you are thinking of going?

Ruzar: Well, why don't we go that (pointing) hillock, where there is nice
greenery with trees and no human disturbance?

Mari: Humm.

Ruzar : Now, what is it?

Mari: After going there, you won't be playing any mischiefs with me?
