2007-11-23 Thread REBECCA BURCH
Exactly right!! I was running through the list in my
head and didn't stop to think that most folks wouldn't
know what a Frobisuit was.

You can see it here - he's the one in gold/red,

waving at the camera
http://robynsroost.com/brf07/week7/brf046.jpg

standing at the far right
http://robynsroost.com/brf07/week3/brf116.jpg

His current garb has been through 2 hard years of use
and he lost weight over his stay in York, so now it
doesn't fit well.

My problem is - once again - finding fabric. I lucked
into the the tropical weight wool crepe I used last
time. Not having the same luck this go around.

I mostly like living way out in the country, but times
like this I would kill to live near a large city with
good fabric stores. Wal-Mart and JoAnn's just don't
cut it.

That's the major problem with ordering over the internet, you never
really know what you're getting until it arrives. And with places like
FashionFabrics, which carry a lot of random bolts left over from fashion
manufacturers, you can't be sure that anything you are getting is going
to be at all what you expect. Any two wools or velvets are likely to be
of completely different origin.

Some really good deals there, though, if you're willing to take the
chance. :)

I haven't seen any nice wools in a long time, an I have lousy luck
trying to dye anything.

Heh. I think the word may be nuts, at least in my case...or at least
biting off more than I want to chew. I can't do multiples of the same
pattern - I get bored just doing the same pattern on two ends of these
scarves!
Every one - if ever ever I finish them - will be different, and therefore I
will still like them when I'm finished. G

I've been offered goof money for custom pieces, but I find I just can't
get into the embroidery if I HAVE to do it. Guess if I'm ever gonna get
rich (hah!) will have to do the work first, and sell it later

I'm not yet to the gift sewing phase - right now I'm
concentrating on getting through my youngest son's
Eagle ceremony tomorrow. My folks are headed to a
month in India over Christmas, so we had our big
family get together this weekend and combined
Thanksgiving and Eagle and a couple birthdays. A bit
overkill, but given the way our family comes and goes,
necessary.

I will start on the gifts next week - Promise. I only
have a couple things that didn't get finished last
year. :-)
Then Ansel wants a new Frobisuit for Bristol next year
and he definitely needs a couple of new shirts and I
need to finish the demi-cape.

Dear list,
Since the traffic has been light, and we assume people are busy, I'll kick

I'm making dresses for my granddaughters--I was inspired by some very
expensive dresses in an upscale children's shop in Las Vegas--I can make
something
like that, I said. Well, the original intent was to use what was in my
stash, but one of the pieces of fabric was so badly off grain (it has a
printed
design) that I just couldn't use it, and what I bought instead didn't match
color-wise, and I didn't have enough of another; so, after my 4th trip to
JoAnn's this afternoon, I'll be about done. But I do have enough trims in my
stash, and some usable fabrics. The dresses have a print bodice, solid white
skirt, and dark solid sleeves--one is navy blue, one red. The skirt has three
rows of assorted trim in white and the color, the sleeve has another white
trim
around the edge, and each also has yet another trim around the neckline.
The red and white one is almost done and is shaping up nicely. The navy
bodice
is done, but the 4th trip to JoAnn's is for skirt fabric for it.

After this, I'm done sewing again for a while.
