Thanks Heather and all the rest who responded. I did get the pics and
info from one or more of you and was able to share them with my class.

There are a couple of dresses (or fragments of dresses) of this type
that I've run across. At the moment I'm away from home, so going off
what's on the computer, it's cited in Hall 1981 which I think must
be:

Hall, Rosalind. 1981. Fishing-net dreses in the Petrie Museum in
Göttinger Miszellen: 42:36-46.

But also in:

Hall, Rosalind. 1986. Egyptian Textiles. Shire Publications,
Aylesbury. ISBN 0-85263-800-0

which is more likely to have a color photo.

Perhaps you mean this one? the Textiles in the Petrie Museum Schools' Pack.

The museums Teacher's Pack.

The Petrie Museum has a picture of the dress online.

Here is a photo someone else took. Depending on the age of the class I don't
nkow that I'd show the article.

Another side view.

A search on The Petrie Museum Bead Dress brings up quite a bit but I think the
first one I list is perhaps the article you were thinking of.

I found the on-line reference for the beaded dress at the Museum of
fine arts in Boston:
(or you can search by accession #: 27.1548.1 at

Their description follows.

Katy

Beadnet dress
Egyptian, Old Kingdom, Dynasty 4, reign of Khufu, 2551–2528 B.C.
Findspot: Giza, Egypt
Length x width: 113 x 44 cm (44 1/2 x 17 5/16 in.)
Faience
Classification: Costumes
On view in the: Egyptian Old Kingdom (Hetepheres) Gallery
The main body of the dress consists of faience beads strung in a
lozenge pattern. A line of dark blue cylinder beads marks the division
between the skirt and the bodice. The halter-shaped bodice consists of
alternating rows of cylinder beads and the lozenge pattern. Light and
dark blue floral beads hang from the bottom edge of the garment.

This portion of a bead net dress was reconstructed from approximately
7,000 beads found in an undisturbed burial (see photographs). Although
their string had disintegrated, a few beads still lay in their
original pattern. Such garments are frequently shown on painted
statues or in tomb wall scenes (see drawing), but this is the earliest
surviving actual example of such a garment.

Accession number: 27.1548.1
Provenance/Ownership History: From Giza, tomb G 7440 Z. 1927:
excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition;
1927: assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt.

I posted a cite to an article by Rosalind Janessen (nee Hall) about several of
such dresses. I made JPEGs of each page of the article, which had a number
of color photographs. It was in KMT magazine, but I'm having trouble finding
the volume or year. However, the title was An Ancient Egyptian Erotic
Fashion: Fishnet Dresses. I can send you the JPEGs by private e-mail, if
you like.
