Re: [hlds] Associate Names with a Steam ID?
Afaik, L4D's vote kick places a 5min ban on the kicked player so rejoining is not possible. Vote ban would be the most abused feature ever, they will never add that. Lastly, troll is not the right term for those players :P Griefer or Tk'er would be. The votekick ban doesn't seem to actually work, since I have yet to see it keep a votekicked 'player' away. Voteban wouldn't be vulnerable to abuse as long as it only lasted until the end of the session. Having votebans expire as soon as the game ends or everybody leaves would be enough to see to that. Griefing, TKing, and Trolling are different things. Griefing is intentionally sabotaging the game, while trolling is using communication abusively to elicit a response. Generally they all come as a package, but occasionally you get a player who is actually playing the game but at the same time being a wholly unpleasant person to be around. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
Re: [hlds] Associate Names with a Steam ID?
Install SourceMod and setup vote bans to be a publicly available command, and set the ban duration to say 90 minutes or so. That's an average length of a Coop game, and even if it's too short or too long, it's plenty of time for someone else to join. [hlds] SourceTV (TF2 and CS:S)
I've been wanting to record the gameplay in my clans server so we finally got sourcetv up and running using a hidden slot. The problem is they want it on all the time for administration purposes so im wondering if it is possible to toggle sourcetv recording based on player count or when the server has any number of people in it? Right not you need to sift through hours of emptiness to get to a game. Also, i've been wanting to get into video editing so I am wondering if any of you are good with Sourcetv and would know anything about using it to make videos. [hlds] Windows TF2 CPU Core Usage
I've noticed a few people insisting that a full 32 slot tf2 server will only use at most 5% of a cpu core. How is this possible I use linux servers, and they always use 60-80% when 32 slots are full? Re: [hlds] Windows TF2 CPU Core Usage
In order for the game engine to run faster than 60fps you need to run a fps boost tool, or other method to put the windows server into a state where it will process faster. Essentially people who are seeing low CPU utilization are running their servers at 60fps, what some are referring to as unboosted, which frankly is probably just fine for a 32 slot pub. I think the problem with those who are using 100% of a cpu are are likely trying to run 1000fps servers, which is overkill for a large pub server. Re: [hlds] Windows TF2 CPU Core Usage
Actually it also gives a false CPU usage. Seeing as the server will use 0% utilization with under like 15 players. It's just because the timer is lazy. I've tried limiting FPS and it doesn't change CPU usage whatsoever from 1000fps down to 20 fpswell maybe a little but it's not really noticeable. You'll still crank out the box if you put too many slots on it. Doesn't matter whether it's running or not, you'll see a performance hit either way. It'll just seem like the box is okay, but the server FPS will be at like 10 FPS and you'll wonder why since the CPU usage will be like 15% :P On Fri, May 8, 2009 at 8:41 PM, Midnight mido...@gmail.com wrote: In order for the game engine to run faster than 60fps you need to run a fps boost tool, or other method to put the windows server into a state where it will process faster.
