Related to pipeline, we got a strange problem yesterday on Stage 3.

The red team won because of the cart, then there was the building
explosion/the fire, but a new round didn't start. The game was buggued and
everybody stayed in stage 3 forever.

  I don't think it's related to Pipeline.  It was crashing on Dustbowl and

I've noticed that when running the wait command with this enabled has the
server reply with unknown command: wait

So it would be possible to implement a server side version of the command
that perhaps informs them scripts not allowed.

we have had people who use pistol scripts etc whose TF2 client crashes when
they use them now wait is disabled.

personally, serves them right but it is kind of annoying.

If there is a round trip to the server and back every time the wait 
command is used, I sure hope there are anti-DoS measures in place, 
otherwise it's quite possible for them to flood the server.  The server 
should respond back only 1x every # seconds to avoid this.  In between, 
just ignore incoming wait checks from that user.

Actually, admins may prefer someone attempting this, to be temp banned 
from the server for # minutes, and a perm ban after # attempts.

Well we worked with Beetlefart on the Windowz version and since applying .89 
we've had no crashes or other weird behavior on our live game server.  I have 
also put it on my vanilla test server without any changes and it's been running 
since applied.  I looked at those threads in the BM forums and to me it looked 
like there may be some config changes needed,  
(bm_UseForcedRespawnforFastRespawn 0
in the default.cfg was one), but then all is good.  We haven't really tested 
out all functions yet (will be done as we use it).  Of course your milage may 
vary, hehe.

Well I did load it up. The only possible issue I see is this, its not
connecting to the sql datatbase. This isnt unusual for a restart on the
server and a map change usualy will reconnect it. however weve been through
2 map changes and still no connection

With the next class update, I hope Valve doesn't announce what the random
drops are available or even the mention that the update is available.
 Mention the new maps and bug fixes but ninja the rest (like the headgear).
That way the community can stop this QQ nonsense and the retarded
achievement_idle servers.  The weapons would just appear in your inventory
with an introductory web page that can be shared with your friends list via
Steam.  Let it go viral (which would then at least lower the initial
avalanche of complainers).

Most of the people complaining are sad, angry and jealous folk who are
afraid and resistant to any sort of change be it good or bad and will rail
against it and try to prevent it no matter what.The update is free, the game
is still fun, it's not an rpg, and it's not ruined forever.
There's no concluding statement to add here, because people will still whine
and bitch and complain about all of this until they put the old system back,
and then they will whine, bitch and complain about the old system and how
Valve is unoriginal and what not.

I got the razorback in 15 minutes, which was the last unlock I wanted. In
the 3-4 hours since then, I got nothing at all. I hope valve implements the
changes listed on their blog soon Real Time, not Valve Time.

The most popular game mode in TF2. Chat/AFK.  Last refresh I saw over 200
servers running achievement_idle and the number is increasing.

All you do is join and minimize the game, get weapon drops as you stay
afk... you can even stay as a spectator.

PS: THANKS VALVE, THIS WORKS SO MUCH BETTER THAN UNLOCKABLES. Now we don't
even need to play the game to get the weapons.. and when I say we I actually
mean everyone else because I got absolutely nothing since the second bonk on
Thursday.

No matter what people do, they'll find a reason to whine.  It's just a  
part of being in the FPS world.  A lot of violent pricks that expect  
the most out of everything.  When mom and dad doesn't give them what  
they want, they bitch and moan.  If Valve doesn't do things how _they_  
want it, they bitch and moan.  Its just a vicious cycle.  People need  
to get over it.

The real mistake is having the trading system out later (and we know what

It would be a fine system if it:
Had a constant probability of getting an item which would go up or down with
certain actions, and then slowly come back down to a baseline (Similar to
how crit probabilities are calculated with damage).

Actions, for example:

   - Making it more likely when you are winning
   - Making it more likely qhen you top the scoreboard (with like 3+
   players)
   - Making it more likely when you get MVP
   - Making it more likely when you've done a high amount of damage (like
   crit chances)
   - Making it more likely for the character that your playing
   - Making it less likely when you've already got an item,
   - Making it more when you get rows of kills and when dominating
   - Boost chance when you get an achievement, boost it even more if you
   have a certain number of achievements, (well maybe not this!!! since this is
   what valve were tyring to take away!)
   - Decrease chances for every bot on the server!!! (even completly)
   - Increases with the length of time that you play
   - Increases depending on how long you've had the game
   - and base it on previous stats! Valve must store these somewhere.


This system could be amasing, but it needs *a bit* of work.

I think I'm at a disadvantage though, since I reset my stats, so my time is
lower. From what I've heard, people who have longer playtime are getting
items more often.

certain actions, and then slowly come back down to a baseline (Similar to
how crit probabilities are calculated with damage).

Actions, for example:

   - Making it more likely when you are winning
   - Making it more likely qhen you top the scoreboard (with like 3+
   players)
   - Making it more likely when you get MVP
   - Making it more likely when you've done a high amount of damage (like
   crit chances)
   - Making it more likely for the character that your playing
   - Making it less likely when you've already got an item,
   - Making it more when you get rows of kills and when dominating
   - Boost chance when you get an achievement, boost it even more if you
   have a certain number of achievements, (well maybe not this!!! since this
is
   what valve were tyring to take away!)
   - Decrease chances for every bot on the server!!! (even completly)
   - Increases with the length of time that you play
   - Increases depending on how long you've had the game
   - and base it on previous stats! Valve must store these somewhere.


This system could be amasing, but it needs *a bit* of work.

 later mean to Valve), that's just make the system totally incomplete and
 frustrating for players.
