If you want a cheat proof server, you need to block almost everything. This
whitelist sucks since it allows many ways to wallhack.

 Hi Everyone,

I have always been using sv_pure 1 on my servers with the default config
file, shrugging off the occasional complaint about not being able to use
custom models. Recently I noticed a rather lengthy and detailed post on the
steam forums about this topic which provoked me to look into it more.
  Would
anyone be willing to provide me with their suggestions and/or links to
 resources on configuring this.

I have found an example config on fpsbanana here:

 http://www.fpsbanana.com/scripts/5125?page=2mn=8_body

Should I use this config? Do you have any modifications to this config that
 you would suggest?

 Thanks!

Re: [hlds] configuring pure_server_whitelist.txt

2010-03-09 Thread Mark Gunnett
Just a note:

The whitelist configuration settings are different for TF2, and CS:S. I
normally use the following config for CS:S, however it does _not_ work for
TF2, which I suppose is because there are like 1-2 new whitelist files that
have appeared, and I'm unsure of how to tweak. Whatever I do just doesn't
seem to work. It doesn't help that I can't find proper information about
these new whitelist configs =/

http://sniperfodder.ampaste.net/m1da36c74

Also, a note on the check_crc for mod whitelisting... Don't do it. There is
a crapload of admins who are freaking lazy, and replace the stock files with
their own files, using the stock file names. A good example is that of the
mani admin sounds. If you want to use joinserver sounds and such, ensure
that if your joinserver sound has a unique name used in the configuration
file. In which case check_crc is fine. But if you are just using the default
sounds included, don't do the crc else you will have quite a few players who
can not connect because their sound files are different then the ones on
your server.
