You have the windows driver for this card? Try using ndisgtk to load the windows driver. [ilugd] wifi cards at nehru place?
Howdy all, I want a pci or usb wifi card that I can use in ad hoc mode and that is currently common in Nehru Place. I also want to avoid ndiswrapper and binary blobs for religious reasons. Anyone got a non-evil card recently that they can recommend? Or am I doomed anyway since the chipsets keep changing without warning while the model names remain the same? Whats the difference between an 802.11b adapter an access point? The 802.11b adapter is a wireless LAN card and an access point is the wireless equivalent of a switch. On a side note, if you are going to buy wireless, you should buy the one that is 802.11g compatible. 802.11b is old and slow and may not work all the time due to incompatibility with newer equipment. I have the 802.11g standard router from linksys and when i got it a year and a half ago,it cost me about Rs.6000 (i imported it). A similar model now costs around Rs. 3000 or so now...I dont have the current prices but this is a ballpark figure. Hope this helps. My router is a Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router. It has 4 100Mbit Lan ports as well as a DSL/WAN Port. works great. I'm considering the Asus router as a mini network appliance for local services (DNS etc), IPSEC endpoint, print and disk server (via a portable USB drive).
