Re: [imp] Errors when logging into imp
[long post] Hello again, I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get any responses, so I'm at it again with more info. Hopefully, someone with the latest version of dovecot can give me some additional pointers. I am getting these errors when I login to imp using dovecot 1.0RC15 and/or 1.0.0. Apr 13 22:16:16 www HORDE[3665]: PHP Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/IMAP/Tree.php on line 378 Apr 13 22:16:16 www HORDE[3665]: PHP Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/IMAP/Tree.php on line 381 From Tree.php function _makeMailboxTreeElt($ob) { $elt['a'] = $ob-attributes; -- Line 378 $elt['c'] = 0; $elt['p'] = IMAPTREE_BASE_ELT; $elt['v'] = $ob-name; -- Line 381 Apr 13 22:16:16 www HORDE[3665]: PHP Notice: Undefined index: v in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Horde/IMAP/Tree.php on line 1107 /* CHECK: If we are viewing all folders, and there is a folder * listed as expanded but it does not contain any children, * then we should remove it from the expanded list since it * doesn't exist anymore. */ if ($this-_showunsub !$ret) { $this-_initExpandedList(); if (!empty($this-_expanded[$elt['v']])) {-- Line 1107 $this-_removeExpandedList($elt['v']); $this-_setOpen($this-_tree[$elt['v']], false); I also get a host load of errors in my log when trying to create a folder. Imp says the folder was created, but it's not there. I am having difficulties trying to get the current stable version of horde's imp webmail to work correctly using dovecot 1.0rc15. I am using a pre-release version of SME Server 8 which runs on top of CentOS 5. I have also tried using the 1.0 release of dovecot as well. What is happenning is that when I login to imp, I don't see any folders. I can create folders in imp which do get created in my Maildir directory, but I can't see them. If I revert back to dovecot-0.99.14-1.2, then I am able to see my folders. I have been looking in the wiki at the steps needed to upgrade from 0.99 to 1.0 and I thought everything had been taken care of, but since things aren't working, I have overlooked something. I also browsed the archives and see that others are using hordewith various dovecot 1.x releases, so I know it should be possible to get it to work. Re: [imp] Latest RC testing with DIMP
Quoting Michael M Slusarz [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Quoting John H. Bennett III [EMAIL PROTECTED]: In testing the latest RC candidates, I've run across three things that I would like others to verify before opening bug reports. In all of my application/conf.php files, I have this line: $conf['menu']['apps'] = array('accounts', 'dimp', 'gollem', 'horde', 'imp', 'ingo', 'jeta', 'kronolith', 'mnemo', 'nag', 'turba'); 1. Login to horde and choose dynamic. Hovering above the menu icons at the top of the dimp menu and the icons on the sidebar, both dynamic mail and mail link to dimp. This is inconsistent behavior. If you click on another menu item, like tasks, the sidebar inconsistency stays, but the menu icons at the top of the app menu now show a link to dimp for dynamic mail and a link to imp for mail. 2. Enable horde sidebar via imp options. Login to horde and choose traditional. Next click on dynamic mail icon, either in the sidebar or via the top meny icons. You now have two sidebars, the original one and the dimp one. The only way to clear this is to currently logout and login. 3. Enable horde sidebar via imp options. Login to horde and choose dynamic. Click on any other menu icon except for dimp or imp. Now click on imp, you should still have the dimp sidebar and not the imp sidebar. This may be acceptable. DIMP was not meant to be run via the traditional interface. It was meant to be run standalone. michael OK, fine, but if that is the case, then why offer the choices of traditional, dynamic and minimalist upon login, if dimp is supposed to be run standalone? Convenience? And why then do you give an admin the ability to set every other horde application as a menu setting? This would imply that everything is integrated. It didn't take myself and some other testers long to stumble across this issue while testing the RC's. I was just trying to give feedback on what we are seeing and experiencing. I had been trying to show a consistent view of the menu apps across all applications by using an includes statement so that I wouldn't need to configure each application's $conf['menu']['apps'] = array... section separately. This kind of breaks that idea, and makes one have to manually configure that for each app. Thanks, John -- IMP mailing list - Join the hunt: http://horde.org/bounties/#imp Frequently Asked Questions: http://horde.org/faq/ To unsubscribe, mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Messages did work with the previous stable versions. Here is a copy of the message source. Could this just be an issue with anyone using outlook express? I do not think so. The message source you have partially quoted looks OK to me. It has, however, “Content-Type: multipart/alternative”, meaning that, after the text/plain version you have partially quoted, another version (probably text/html) is expected. From the error message you have quoted, I guess, there is a problem either with your mail (IMAP) server, or with IMP trying to use that service. Hence, you should look into your mail server’s logs, and in your Webmail server’s horde, and php-error, logs. Good luck, Otto Stolz Thanks for replying Otto, turns out my dovecot indexes on a folder had gotten corrupted. I removed them, then logged back in and went to that folder and all is good again. Since login with Chrome produces errors in the logfiles, I assume that this issue could be related to IMP and not Chrome. [imp] imp usability questions
Hello, After spending some time using the latest stable version of imp, I have two usability questions to better improve my user experience. 1. Is there an easy way to change the layout of the imp main screen? I'm talking about the From, Subject, Date, and size layout. Often times, from my experience, and feedback to me, the from field isn't long enough to display who the mail was sent from. You see the partial from info, then the ... appended to the end? I hate to ask, but is it possible to implement some sort of dynamic column adjustment? Yeah, that question doesn't make sense. What I'm trying to ask is for the ability to have a sliding column adjustment that one could use to lengthen or shorten the column fields to their liking? This is what can be done on most client email apps, and not sure it's doable with the web-based email app. 2. The select all checkbox now seems to me to be an unusable feature/function. If I choose select all, I only want to delete all the messages on that page, not every single message in the mailbox. This has been an issue with others that I've had using imp. I tell them to not use this unless they have initiated a search of their mailbox in which they know they want to delete all messages returned in the search. I'm I off base here, and if so, please let me know how I should convey the usage of this. But this behaviour mimics CTRL-A in Outlook.. i.e.if you select all and delete, it deletes all messages selected, not just the visible ones. Personally I'd be upset if this behaviour changed. It was the best thing about moving to the dynamic interface from horde 3 to horde 4! Simon The CTRL-A feature is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking to only delete a page of messages, as you could previously do in the basic mode, when using the select all button. [imp] view of html and plaintext email.
Hello, I'm having an issue with imp 6.2.0 when receiving html emails. When I send myself a test email using html, I'm seeing both the plaintext message and the html message. I have both the plain text and html viewers set to inline true, so I'm sure that's the issue, but if I receive html, I'd prefer to only see the html message. Under preferences/mail/viewing, I have also set html part for the for messages with alternative representation of a text part, which part should be display setting. If I set the html driver to inline false, then I see the plain text, and get the, this message part contains html data, but inline html display is disabled, so I must click the view html data in new window link to see the html part. Have I done something wrong, or is this the way it is? I was expecting that if I receive HTML email, then show that, and not the text, or I guess a link to show the text. I can't turn the plaintext inline viewer to false, because then I can't view most of my mail as I normally do. I then have to click the text icon. I hope I've explained that ok, and someone can help me fix what I've done wrong, or tell me this is working as designed. Hello, I'm testing out ActiveSync and things seem to be working more or less. One thing that I have noticed is when I send an email from my device, the person getting the email shows that the from name is my userid. When I send an email from imp, the from is displayed as what I have configured for my default identity. Is there something I need to do with my ActiveSync settings to get it to show something other than my userid, or is what how things work? [imp] Horizontal/Vertical layout focus
Hello again, Another gripe I keep getting is the inability of the webmail client to maintain focus while in the preview window. People don't want to have to either double-click a message, or when in the preview window, click on the scroll bar to scroll through a message, they would rather be able to click on the layout view, and once in that view, be able to use the mouse or keyboard keys to scroll through their message. Why? Yeah, because that's what outlook can do. I'm up for any words or reasons I can tell my users as to why this isn't possible with horde. Thanks, John -- imp mailing list Frequently Asked Questions: http://wiki.horde.org/FAQ To unsubscribe, mail: imp-unsubscr...@lists.horde.org

We make use of IFRAMEs (for HTML messages) to segregate potentially dangerous external data (message content) from the rest of the page. IFRAMEs are handled differently by each browser. An IFRAME, by default, has no connection/contact to the parent page. So if you do something in the IFRAME, this has NO EFFECT on the rest of the page. Essentially, you can think of the message preview as a completely separate application than IMP. We *try* to capture clicks/keypresses inside of the IFRAME, but this is not always possible (e.g. browser issues; for security reasons we may not be able to precisely simulate that click in the parent page). michael ___ Michael Slusarz [slus...@horde.org] Hi Michael, Yes, OK, thank you for explaining, but when using Outlook Web Access, you don't have this issue, no matter if you are using a MAC, or Windows PC. Once you change the focus to the preview pane, you are able to scroll with the mouse, or by using the keyboard keys. Is this still a matter of UI elements != OS UI elements, or is MS using some other method than what horde uses or can use? Some EAS clients only send the email address, and not the full name email form. Horde attempts to work around this by substituting the From information from the identity selected in the 'activesync_identity' pref. If it's not found, we fall back to the value supplied from the client. My guess? You don't have the activesync_identity pref set, or the identity you have selected does not contain the desired information. -- mike The Horde Project http://www.horde.org https://www.facebook.com/hordeproject https://www.twitter.com/hordeproject Thank you again for your answer. [imp] Birthdays off by one day
Hello, I've stumbled across a problem that I don't know what's going on. I've added birthdays to some of my contacts, I put them in with the correct date, but some time in the future, I look at them on the Calendar, and some show a day off (ahead one day). I edit them in turba again, and again some time in the future some are off a day. This has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks. I don't know what's triggering this. Anyone else seeing this? What can I look for to help try to explain this. Thanks, John -- imp mailing list Frequently Asked Questions: http://wiki.horde.org/FAQ To unsubscribe, mail: imp-unsubscr...@lists.horde.org

[imp] Use different SMTP servers depending on sending identity
Happy New Year all!!! I've had a request that I don't know if it can be done or not. I tried doing some research, but didn't find anything definite. Is it possible to set up imp to use a specific smtp server based on the identity being used? i.e, if I send email from my GMail identity, can I use GMail's smtp servers? If so, will it prompt me for the userid/pass to use for smtp auth, or would I need to use the same one for the whole server setup? I'm not sure what is prompting this request, and don't really know how or why this would be a good thing to do. [imp] imp displaying additional characters when responding from mobile device
Hello, Yesterday, I updated my system to the current stable releases. Then my device stopped syncing. I went to preferences/global preferences/ActiveSync, and reset all device state. Here is some additional testing I did. I sent email from imp to myself, replied back via imp, then replied to that via my device, and see the bad output. This is the third sample from above. I also tested originating email from my device, replying back via imp, then replying again from device, and that was good. I sent email from imp, to my gmail acount, replied via gmail, then replied from my device, good as well. The final test was the same as before except originate email from my device to gmail. I hope some of that makes sense. I did change my domain, but I could redo some or all of this testing and provide a sync log if needed. Before sending this email, I updated again to Horde_Activesync 2.31.8, and that didn't fix anything. I'm using a Galaxy S6, with Android 6.0.1, Android security patch level February 1, 2016. [imp] HTML email replies badly formatted
Hello all, I get a lot of html email, and I have my preference set to reply using the same format as the original message. When I go to reply to these emails with imp, the reply is badly formatted. There are multiple line breaks everywhere within the response, and I have to actually edit the original email to make it not look so slopy and unprofessional. This doesn't happen in Outlook or Thunderbird, so I'm pretty certain it's in the way imp is interpreting the message, but I don't have any real way to prove that other than what I see in how the email response is formatted. Has anyone found a fix or permanent workaround for this? How else are others dealing with it? I had seen a suggestion a while back in the archives, but that suggestion would then be broken upon the new code upgrade. I had tested this a while back with the GIT checkout I had, and saw the same behavior.
