First rule is to see what's already available.

bcblog had its last submission less than two hours ago.

Does anyone know what happened to #mwdx?

Even ye olde DXFishbarrel can
help  http://www3.telus.net/public/shallpat/test/display.htm
Obviously most relevance to the northwest DXer, but if the thing is
lit up like a Christmas tree in the evening, checking for TAs
anywhere in America might be productive, and if it's lit up at your
local sunrise, it may mean that conditions are good overall, and that
switching on the radio would not be amiss.

best wishes,

Nick

 Hello everyone:

I recently completed  the January 2019 edition of the Pacific Asian
Log.   This edition has many changes and updates for stations throughout
Asia and the Pacific.

The PAL has been posted on the Radioheritage website:
http://www.radioheritage.net/ The link for the PDF version is at the top
center of the site's main page.

You can also use an interactive version of the PAL by going through a
couple of the site's internal links.

The next update will be published in a couple of months.

Corrections and updates from users are always welcome and can be sent to
bport...@comcast.net or portze...@gmail.com.

First issued in 2001, The PAL lists medium wave and domestic shortwave
broadcasting stations in southern and eastern Asia and the Pacific.   It
includes about 5000 stations in over 50 countries, with frequencies,
call signs, locations, power, networks, schedules, languages, formats,
networks and other information.

Is there some other site I should be downloading from?

Hello Rocco
I did 15 years+  travelling over 300 mile to the DX shack in the far North of
Scotland. We put up 1200 foot Beverages. Switched on our cassette tape recorder
and happily tuned thorough the night and got some great catches. I always
returned home wondering what I had missed I am now 70 years old and could not
take the strain anymore. Perseus+Jaguar means I can Dx at reasonable times
after a good nights sleep and knowing I probably didn't miss anything. The new
breed of communication means I yune in to WCNA without the long haul North.

HelloI agree with the comment:  I always felt like I was DXing through a
microscope. The display means you only check sections of the recording. The new
CUSTOM FREQS facility enable you to save the frequency setting you found best.
The detailed frequency read out means you can discount or not stations before
any audio peaks. True JAGUAR has a multiplicity of settings but to keep things
simple I only use the ones that work for me. I paid around $50 for JAGUAR PRO
and worth every Cent.

As I reported here earlier this week, I noticed WRCR back on the air on
1700 kHz Tuesday (EDST) evening after a long absence. Their signal was
so good here in my neck of the woods that I could listen to the station
on my car radio as I drove around town Wednesday.

Thursday, I noticed that they were gone again. Same this morning... no
WRCR on the car radio or the IC-R8600.

No news on their website (http://www.wrcr.com) about what is going on.

I have been listening off and on, so I don'ty know its full schedule,
but it seems to be mixed. I caught a call-in talk show this morning and
old rock songs (1970s and newer) in the evening. The station does its
own news (no network) and weather.

 Subject: [IRCA] CJYQ-930 question

I noticed that CJYQ-930 in St. John's, NF is listed as 25kw day and
3.5kw night non-directional on MWList and on the topazdesigns list.

At one time, did it use 25kw at night with a directional antenna as
listed on the FCC site, and itemized in a 2013 NRC pattern book?  I
seem to recall a fire at its transmitter site a few years ago.

Just summertime curiosity.

Thanks.

Nick
