Usually, I've got a sighted person taking the pictures for me. I have them provide me with info so that I either make a list on my computer, or on my digital recorder. This list contains a very brief description of the picture, and either its actual number from the camera, or which picture in the sequence it is, first, second, etc. When I connect my digital camera to my computer, it appears in the My Computer list as just another drive. I navigate to the folder on the camera storage device and locate the list of pictures currently residing on it. I then copy the pictures to a folder on my computer. You will either identify the pictures by their number assigned by the camera, or you will just have to remember that the pictures you are looking for are the last 5 pictures, for example. Once I have the pictures on my hard drive, I rename them to something that will remind me of the pictures contents. You are going to have to hope someone else knows what to do to post these pictures up on e-bay. I find the only solution is to run a good anti-spyware program such as Spybot, Ad-Aware or No-Ad-Aware. I find the latter to be more easier, Jaws friendly, as every aspect of the program is accessible without scripts, and it detects items on your system and labels them as non-critical, severe and dangerous. It gives you the option of making back-up copies of the stuff it finds in case you find that deleting it will adversely affect another program that relies on the stuff, like Kazaa or Lime Wire. Either way, I find it not necessary to make the back-ups and just delete the stuff outright. The program is relatively low-cost and very affordable and easy to obtain. To turn off this annoying AVG Free option, perform the following steps: 1. Open AVG, tab once to the control center button and tap space bar. 2. Use alt plus V to open the view menu and down arrow to the components submenu icon and then tap enter. 3. Down arrow to the email scanner icon and then tap enter. 4. Tab to the configure button and then tap enter. 5. Tab to and uncheck the two Certify mail checkboxes. 6. Now tab to the OK button and enter and then tab to the OK button again and enter. This should have eliminated the problem and you now can close AVG Free with alt plus F4. [JAWS-Users] Re: Office 2007 and Jaws7
I am using jaws 8, demo. XP. Microsoft word 2003. And service pack two am I going to have any trouble? - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, January 23, 2007 10:04 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Office 2007 and Jaws7 Hi All, I recently installed Office 2007 and have found it will take a very long time to learn this one. The interface is similar to Internet Explorer 7, utilizing tabs and the like to access menu settings and the usual bad boys, such as options and formatting, as well as other well known things like page setup aren't where they were before. In any case, learning the new keystrokes will take a very long learning curve. That, however, is not what I'm writing about today. What has happened is this... Once I installed the applications, I loaded Word 2007 and proceeded to look around at some of the features and settings and stuff. As you can imagine, I did an upgrade, so the settings were just used from the previous version of Word I had installed. Similar to the merge utility with Jaws, except this one was perfect in that it knew exactly how to set up the view and the options, and especially, it new that I wanted sounds turned on. My problem is the view of the document, as read by Jaws. For example, I open up a template I use called the fax cover page from Word. To be exact, it is called the professional fax cover page. One thing it utilizes that I like and helps me fill out the blanks are tables. The way I used to get around these tables was to hold down the control key, then tapping the down or up arrow to move through the table horizontally, either right or left, respectively. This is no longer the case. Now, when I hold down the control key and tap the up or down arrow, it moves and reads one row at a time, instead of one cell at a time. Granted, it still reads information from the left column on the row to the right, however, I no longer do it one cell at a time, as I said, it now flows one row at a time. This is very difficult as sometimes I use the same cover page, and just change the information to suit the person I'm sending it to. Suffice it to say, I can't seem to find how I can fix this. I don't even think Freedom Scientific used the control key as a navigation key to help with the arrow keys. All I've ever seen talked about are the insert or caps lock key to move through a document, but I digress. I am currently using Jaws 7.0, with XP home, as well as Office 2007 Enterprise edition. Does anyone have any ideas. I did try going to Freedom Scientifics web site to see if they had any technical bulletins in terms of proper view settings to use that would help to use Jaws more effectively, or even just some accessibility documentation between these two applications, but to no avail, and before anyone starts talking to me about FS not offering any support for Jaws 7 and Office 2007, don't even think about it. I know people who are still using 5.1 and even 4.51 with office 2003, so FS should have seen this coming, if not for their sake, then for their customer's. Not everyone can afford the latest software all at the same time, sometimes people have to prioritize and one takes precedence over the other. In any case, does anyone have any ideas if this is even fixable or not? Another example I can give you is this other document I have that came with my MP3 player. It is the manual, and it seems like Jaws is reading both sides of the book at once. For example, it will read the first line on page one, then move to the first line on page 2, kind of like the two pages are facing each other, but when I go to check out Words view settings, the page is laid out as normal. Maybe someone can help me? [JAWS-Users] Re: System Tray Process Correlation
You will slow pc boot up if you have allot in system tray. - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, January 19, 2007 9:09 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] System Tray Process Correlation Walt Said: More than enough running in the System Tray? What does this mean? It makes no difference how many items are running there. For that matter, you can set Autosizer (like a lot of other programs) to _not_ display a System Tray icon if you don't want one. *** Sorry Walt, but I hate to differ with you on this statement. The number of icons you have in your system tray are a direct correlation, although not a complete one, I must admit, to how many processes you have running in the background, and therefore, how much of your resources are being drained to go towards these extra processes. Like it or not, the stuff in your system tray sits in resident memory, ready to be used at any time, this would have a direct impact on how fast your computer is, how much time it takes to process information and data you input into the computer and then sends it back to you via Jaws key echo or something else. Granted, you can get a complete list of all running processes you have running in the task manager, but why bring that up if you're looking for only one process. Getting back to the earlier reason for the post , the fact is, Autosizer is a great program, and I agree with you that on some systems, such as on my desktop computer, it is a complete asset. It shouldn't, however, be required if things are configured properly on your computer, right? I mean, let's be honest, if Freedom Scientific had wanted Autosizer to be included in it's program code for Jaws, it wouldn't be offered up on the JFW Lite or Jaws Users site, it would be available to FS users as an add on to Jaws. The fact is, Jaws was created as a plug and play program, provided, of course, you have the video intercept manager installed, but in any case, one should be able to use Jaws right out of the package, and all the settings we do for Jaws are completely aesthetic and add more to our efficiency, not Jaws' efficiency. Either way. I don't want another process running in the background and that's that. The latter is great and quite extensive in it's searching capabilities, but that's only my opinion. You will have to shell out some money with this program though, as it is not free like AVG, , but not much money, and it's so good it will even pick up minor viruses, worms and Trojans. It's completely Jaws friendly, as I have been using it for so long now without any scripts, and every aspect of this program is accessible with Jaws. Either way, enough of the software promotion...My apologies for straying from the original conversation... Anyway, when I am faced with something that I can't explain on my computer, knowing full well that it wasn't doing it a few short days, weeks, or even hours ago, than I run a virus check, and a check for spyware. I also run a registry checker to make sure, after the initial scan for viruses and spyware are complete, that anything these two scans have found haven't corrupted the registry. Try that Suzy, and see what happens, after all, at this point, seeing as no one was any help whatsoever, you've got nothing to lose, right? Good luck, and let us, or at least, me, know how it went. I have the opportunity to use 2 anti-virus programs. One is the AVG version which will replace the older AVG Free. The other program is an addition to my Spy Sweeper. Here's my concern. The AVG program reads quite well with Jaws as you all know. On the other hand, it's a lot harder to read Spy Sweeper in some of its modes. In fact, you have to use another cursor such as the Jaws or Invisible to access some information. How will the Spy Sweeper Anti-virus program work? Will it effect how the rest of the software works? This new part of the Spy Sweeper is relatively recent so maybe no one has had the time to look at it yet. If anyone has information about the accessibility of these programs, I'd really appreciate help. Thanks so much. Hi Jason, The following was taken from the Jaws help topics. Enhanced Edit Support If you select this check box, JAWS provides enhanced support for edit and rich edit areas. This feature allows for increased accuracy while reading text in these areas. In addition, enhanced edit support allows JAWS to recognize an extended selection of text attributes and better detect languages automatically. However, you may experience reduced responsiveness while using certain programs. This check box is cleared by default. Smart Word Reading In previous releases, when issuing the Say Word command, JAWS would only read the current word or character when the cursor was positioned on a text unit, such as a compound word, telephone number, date, time, or math equation. With Smart Word Reading enabled in version 8.0, JAWS now reads the entire text unit when the Say Word command is issued. Note: The Smart Word Reading feature is application dependent. So, if Microsoft Word normally reads the entire text unit as one word or number, then JAWS will do the same. Likewise, if an application, such as WordPad, reads each component of the text unit, then JAWS will do the same. For example, in the sentence, She is my sister-in-law, if the cursor is placed anywhere on the word sister, JAWS would say sister. However, in JAWS 8.0 with Smart Word Reading, JAWS will say the entire compound word, sister-in-law. Likewise, in the sentence, The appointment was at 2:00 P.M., JAWS would say colon if the cursor was placed between the digit 2 and the colon. In JAWS 8.0 with Smart Word Reading, JAWS will say the entire text unit as two o'clock. As a final example, let's look at how JAWS reads a telephone number. If the cursor is placed between the dash and the 444 in the telephone number 1-800-444-4443, previous JAWS versions would say, 444. In JAWS 8.0 with Smart Word Reading, JAWS reads the entire telephone number as, 1-800-444-4443. Indicate New Line When In the Speech and Sounds Manager, you can specify text or a sound that you want to hear when you move to a new line of text while typing or reading. Select one or more of the following check boxes to specify when JAWS should indicate a new line: list of 3 items . Editor Wraps Text While Typing - JAWS indicates new lines when your editor or word processor wraps text to the next line while you are typing. . User Navigates Left or Right Across a Line Break - JAWS indicates new lines when you are reading by word or character. . User Reads Text Containing NewLine Characters - JAWS indicates new lines when you are using the standard JAWS reading commands and encounter the special character that represents the beginning of a new line of text. Word-wrap, is available in Notepad, and Wordpad, but I can't say for sure about Word. The following was taken from the help topics in Notepad. . Wrapping text enables you to see all the text on the line, but it doesn't affect the way text appears when it is printed. Hi Ricque, what exactly are smart-word reading, enhanced edit support, and word wrap? Are these settings within word and if so where are they? Word wrap, I know is automatically adjusting text, so no words are split at end of a line. The other two things you mention, I have never heard

It is suppose to clean out the junk in your windows registry. My question is, is this something that I should be doing, and if so, is this program accessible with jaws?
