[JAWS-Users] paltalk scripts

2009-12-01 Thread the blind eagle
hi all members, this is ramy from egypt.
i'm not a scriptor at all, i only have a question and hope the kind experts in
this list help me.

i've searched for jaws scripts for paltalk massenger, and i found a scripts for
paltalk9. unfortunatley, one must install the latest version of paltalk rather
than the old 9. after i upgraded my paltalk, the scripts become unvalid to some
extent. does anyone know where can i find an updated version of these scripts?

i know that this is might be difficult, so, if this is impossible, here is my
second question:
one of the features that still working in these scripts is the way of reading
messages in chat rooms. and all of you know that arabic is a right-to-lift
language. and my arabic speech synthesizer reads the messages from lift to
right, i.e. up-side-down arabic.
can i add some code to the .jss file or else where in order to make it read
arabic from right to lift as usual?
note that my synthesizer reads arabic correctly in skype chat window.
thank you for your patience.

cordials

[JAWS-Users] Changing JAWS license

2009-12-01 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hello all,
Due to problems with ILM activations, I am switching my JAWS license to a
dongle. This is after what happened last night where one of my machines
running Windows 7 lost authorization without any explanation. I was told it
is a known issue for some small number of users, but as I am at university I
cannot be doing with loss of authorizations and trying to re-activate only
to to be told it failed. My dealer was very helpful and offered to reset my
keys, but fankly I do not trust ILM anymore. They were understanding and are
going to ring me back to help me purchase my dongle, which is £45 here in
the UK.
Thought I would let you know. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] facebook mobile and jaws?

2009-12-01 Thread Sherrie Gosling
I use Facebook every day and dislike the mobile site. I am mainly
interested in locating the posts my friends make each day and the regular
home page offers the easiest navigation since using h for heading takes me
right down through all the posts. If the post is a comment it reads it
immediately. If it says just the friend's name then it is usually some
application game or photo link that I ignore. So I can zip through the
postings by using the h. Usually this list is fairly short and does not
include all the recent posts so I do a Jaws search for older posts and it
shows more. I like to remember to do the older posts link first so i don't
have to h through the ones I have just read. But it is so quick to jump
through using the h that you can skim right over friends whose posts don't
interest you particularly.
In Jaws 11 there is also a hide link that appears after the person's name
that will hide the current posts for that person. This is good for people
who don't post status updates but only game stuff. and other things
uninteresting to me

This heading navigation does not work to locate posts on the mobile page and
I find myself having to arrow down line by line. And it does not include the
total list of posts, I think.
Another benefit to the regular home page is that there are several other
choices for how to view the posts. I usually just use jaws search to locate
the following links: News feed is the first one and the default I think. It
has many posts that Facebook deems most important. But I want them all so I
use some of the other links as well. Under the News feed link is a link with
the name of my current city, Elizabethton, TN. When I click on this one I
can see all of my own recent updates and wall to wall posts. This is handy
since I am not always sure if something I have attempted has actually been
posted and this link posts them promptly. So if it doesn't show up here I go
back and do it again. The next link is Pages. This allows you to see only
posts from groups or people you are a fan of. I can get all the back posts
for my Hungry Girl, Kim Komando, Never Say Diet, etc. The next choice is
Status updates. This is a really good list since it only includes the actual
updates friends have written and not the who friended who or played such and
such in Farmville or whatever. There is also a choice for Live feed and I
think this includes all posts without the Facebook choosing what is
important. That is my guess, anyway since this list is longer. I locate
these lists by using Jaws search. I don't worry about notifications and such
too much since messages to my inbox, friend requests and comments on my
posts are emailed to my regular email and I find them there. Every now and
then I check the notifications area to see who sent me gifts I can't see
and usually ignore these. I try to avoid most Facebook apps now that there
are some virus problems there according to Kim Komando, the digital goddess.
By using the h for heading navigation I find that I skip right over the
pesky adds which appear on the home page and skipping them is a blessing.

I have also put desktop shortcuts for Facebook home, for my profile page and
for the mobile page so I can switch back and forth very easily by using
windows d to go to the desktop and f to find which Facebook page I want to
open next.
I hope this helps by adding another option different from the popular
opinion on the list which seems to be that the mobile Facebook is the only
way to go.

I haven't had the locking problem but today when I turned on my Win 7 64
bit laptop it went to 40 minute mode. Luckily the tech people reset my
authorizations when I called last week about the mirror driver issue which
seems to have been resolved.

So I was able to re-enter the code and it is working again.

Hello all, I am new Here.

If someone is interested, at the link bellow there are Jaws 10.0 and 11.0
scripts for Yahoo Messenger 10.0.

These scripts are updated by Pontes IT Department, Romania.
The messages in the instant window are readed automatically by Jaws.
 The alt + 1, 2, 3, ... 9 keystrokes work correctly.
New keystroke added: control + shift + enter open the last address found
in the window. For instance, if someone send you a Youtube link, you press
control + shift + enter and the web browser will open the last web address
vizible in current window..

At the link bellow, first heading is the message about Yahoo Scripts on
Pontes Organization Forum, there is the download link for scripts.
After the web page will be loaded, press h to go to the start of the
message with the download link.

Hello Reese,

If you use CTRL+shift+O, JAWS will list all objects in the document. Use up or
down arrow keys to move from object to object in the list, and use enter key to
move focus to a particular object. It is possible that the objects are text
boxes and quite often by moving focus to the object JAWS will read it. You
might be able to use your PC cursor and be able to read and edit the text once
focus is moved to an object.

Take care.

One thing I wanted to mention about the mobile site is that pressing insert
and enter will allow you to navigate comment by comment. You have to arrow
up to see who said what but it's another way of doing things.
I really appreciate the info on using the main page.
Thanks!

In Jaws 11 there is also a hide link that
appears after the person's name that will hide the current posts for that
person. This is good for people who don't post status updates but only game

stuff. and other things uninteresting to me

This heading navigation does not work to locate posts on the mobile page
and I find myself having to arrow down line by line. And it does not
include the total list of posts, I think.
Another benefit to the regular home page is that there are several other
choices for how to view the posts. I usually just use jaws search to
locate the following links: News feed is the first one and the default I
think. It has many posts that Facebook deems most important. But I want
them all so I use some of the other links as well. Under the News feed
link is a link with the name of my current city, Elizabethton, TN. When I
click on this one I can see all of my own recent updates and wall to wall
posts. This is handy since I am not always sure if something I have
attempted has actually been posted and this link posts them promptly. So
if it doesn't show up here I go back and do it again. The next link is
Pages. This allows you to see only posts from groups or people you are a
fan of. I can get all the back posts for my Hungry Girl, Kim Komando,
Never Say Diet, etc. The next choice is Status updates. This is a really

good list since it only includes the actual updates friends have written
and not the who friended who or played such and such in Farmville or
whatever. There is also a choice for Live feed and I think this includes

all posts without the Facebook choosing what is important. That is my
guess, anyway since this list is longer. I locate these lists by using
Jaws search. I don't worry about notifications and such too much since
messages to my inbox, friend requests and comments on my posts are emailed

to my regular email and I find them there. Every now and then I check the
notifications area to see who sent me gifts I can't see and usually
ignore these. I try to avoid most Facebook apps now that there are some
virus problems there according to Kim Komando, the digital goddess. By
using the h for heading navigation I find that I skip right over the pesky

adds which appear on the home page and skipping them is a blessing.

I have also put desktop shortcuts for Facebook home, for my profile page
and for the mobile page so I can switch back and forth very easily by
using windows d to go to the desktop and f to find which Facebook page I
 want to open next.
I hope this helps by adding another option different from the popular
opinion on the list which seems to be that the mobile Facebook is the only

 way to go.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Using FS Reader to read mp3 Audio Books

Dear list

I offer this tip.
Experimenting with the full version of FSReader that comes with Jaws 11 I
have found that it is very good at reading mp3 audio books. In particular
the capacity to increase reading rate with control page up is better than
any other software that I have come across for this feature. Unlike other
solutions for accelerating playback the distortion level is low. It seems
a

bit like having the Victor Reader Stream reading capacity on your PC.

As I understand it, even if you download and install only the demo version
of Jaws 11 you will get the full version of FSReader.

Of course FSReader will not normally read mp3 audio books as it looks
only

for daisy content.
However I have found an easy way to convert a folder of mp3 files into a
Daisy book that FSReader will open and read.

The first step is to copy the folder of mp3 files you want to convert into
an easy place to find on your PC. I copied a book onto my C drive and
renamed the folder daisy.

Now download the free Daisy book Generator from

http://jaapvanlelieveld.xs4all.nl/daisy.htm

Install the Daisy Book Generator and run the program from your programs
menu.

The program is a very simple command line program. There are no menus or
buttons.
Simply type in the path of the folder you want to become a Daisy Book and
then press enter.
In my case this is C:\daisy
It seems impossible to copy and paste a long path into the program which
is

why I suggest you copy the folder you want to convert into an easy to type
location.
Press enter if you get any warning messages from the program about the
filenames you have in your folder.

The program will then start converting your folder of mp3 files into a
daisy

book.
The program will prompt you when this is completed and then pressing enter
again will close the program.

Now you will find that FS Reader will recognise this folder as a daisy
book

and play the contents.

Re: [JAWS-Users] accessibility issue with AVG version 9

2009-12-01 Thread Patricia Dunbar
I am using AVG 9 with Jaws 10. I haven't had really any trouble accessing
the components list, I have this extremely annoying pop-up saying it's web
browser that I cannot figure out how to make disappear.
I even emailed AVG teck support, just to have them tell me, they have no
such pop-up in their program,lol.

It sure never was there in prior versions of AVG though..

When I open AVG I usually do Alt C that displays the list of all the
programs within AVG.
Then you can up/down arrow to the one you want, and enter on it, then tab
across the screen to see what's there. If you make any changes, you get the
typical apply button, save changes button, and sometimes an ok button.

Most of the things are a check box and just spacebar them turns them off/on.
If you first open the AVG main window and move to the right with the right
arrow, you will get the history, scan, tools, help, and the components list.
The item link scanner is not the scanning function of scanning your
computer, it's to do with the internet and search functions within AVG.
There is one place that gives you a list that at the top says, appearance.
You have to do right arrow first, then down arrow to read the list. The
items jaws says if they are closed or open. If closed just right arrow to
open then down arrow to read it's contents, and enter on any of them and
then tab across.

You can press Alt T for the tools menu for these items.

Hope this has been helpful to you. I have AVG 11 disk overhere but haven't
installed it as of yet..

No the Jaws 10 FS Reader is a demo and restricted to reading FS material.
However the good news is that the full version is available with the Jaws 11
demo so you can use the full version of FS Reader even if you cannot afford
to upgrade to Jaws 11 right now.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Using FS Reader to read mp3 Audio Books

 Dear list

 I offer this tip.
Experimenting with the full version of FSReader that comes with Jaws 11
 I
have found that it is very good at reading mp3 audio books. In
 particular
the capacity to increase reading rate with control page up is better
 than
any other software that I have come across for this feature. Unlike
 other
solutions for accelerating playback the distortion level is low. It seems

 a
bit like having the Victor Reader Stream reading capacity on your PC.

As I understand it, even if you download and install only the demo
 version
of Jaws 11 you will get the full version of FSReader.

Of course FSReader will not normally read mp3 audio books as it looks
 only
 for daisy content.
However I have found an easy way to convert a folder of mp3 files into a
Daisy book that FSReader will open and read.

The first step is to copy the folder of mp3 files you want to convert
 into
an easy place to find on your PC.

There are no menus or
 buttons.
Simply type in the path of the folder you want to become a Daisy Book
 and
 then press enter.
In my case this is C:\daisy
It seems impossible to copy and paste a long path into the program which
 is
why I suggest you copy the folder you want to convert into an easy to
 type
 location.
Press enter if you get any warning messages from the program about the
filenames you have in your folder.

The program will then start converting your folder of mp3 files into a
 daisy
 book.
The program will prompt you when this is completed and then pressing
 enter
 again will close the program.

Now you will find that FS Reader will recognise this folder as a daisy
 book
 and play the contents.

 Regards

 David Griffith

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question on what are mp3ufiles.

2009-12-01 Thread David Griffith
I think you must mean m3u files.
If you do mean m3u files then these are playlist files.
They are actually plain text files with a list of media filenames which tell
your media player which files you want to play consecutively.
Typically you would use an m3u file to tell a player to play all the music
tracks of an album in the correct order. Or you can create your own custom
m3u files.

It looks like, in this case, there is an error and there is a reference in
the m3u file to a mp3 file that has been moved or deleted. You could
manually edit the m3u file in notepad to rectify this problem. This might be
tricky if you do not know much about the file layout requirement. It might
be simpler to remove this m3u file and recreate it .

I use Media Player Classic as my media player but use an excellent small
program called Mp3Tag to manage m3u files. For example to create a m3u
playlist of files in a folder simply open the program press control D, point
to the folder you want and then press control P , then enter and that is
it. If you go back to the folder in Explorer you will find a file called
mp3tag.m3u which will do the job. You can of course rename the first part of
the filename but keep the .m3u extension.

David griffith

Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Contents of Insert F6- List Headings

2009-12-01 Thread David Griffith
It is changed in Jaws 11.
insert-alt-w is the correct key combination for Jaws 11 and insert -
control W for previous versions of Jaws.
I use this command a lot and personally I do not like the change. This is
because I find it awkward to hold down the alt and the w key with my left
hand whilst pressing the insert key with my right hand. It is a real hand
stretcher and difficult as I prefer to use touch typing navigation with one
hand and press control keys with the other hand. The new command requires
you to use 2 hands to press control keys at either end of the keyboard. .
As a creature of habit I now want a third hand to press the W.

I think there may be a way of using keyboard manager to do something about
this but I have not got around to this yet. I checked on Jaws 11 and
pressing insert plus right windows plus w brings up an identical response to
insert control and W now which seems a little odd and greedy for the new
command.

 Hello,

How can I copy Contents of Insert F6- List Headings in IE with JAWS 11?
I want to paste the list of headings on a web page into an email
 message

to give to the developer so they can resolve some
 accessibility issues.

 Thank you,

 Bill

Hello

When you open the document from within adobe reader, in the file menu choose
save as text. The program pages contains a link to another program, PDF to
text that does the same thing.

Cheers
Dickson
