Re: [JAWS-Users] Scripts backups
This is true for the most part but in an instance or 2 I did find that excluding a couple of scripts is in order. It seems to me that they had the letters FS in them. I know because I did try this once and it messed up an authorization on the other system until I removed those couple of files. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scripts backups
Thanks, Ann, Rick, David for getting back to me. Sounds like, at best, it is possibly some trial error. In any event, sounds much easier than installing all of them on another computer or again with the next issue of JAWS. Of course on the same computer you can import settings from previous versions but I've also heard from some in the past not to do this due to causing conflicts. Personally, importing has always worked ok for me. [JAWS-Users] JAWS acting crazy
A number of times over about two or three weeks, JAWS behaves in a manner which is shameful. When the computer is booted up and ready to go, JFW repeats the time (including seconds) forever and ever. It will say the time until I restart the computer when, thank goodness, the outburst is quelled. By the way, the time is spoken in the military setting. Re: [JAWS-Users] Short cut key, Office 2007??
David: You could use F 7 as suggested by your former friends or you could also turn on quick keys with jaws key plus z. After doing this, press the letter M to go to your first spelling error and when you are placed on the error, press the windows applications key and arrow around for the appropriate correct word and press enter to make the change. After doing that go back into quick keys with jaws key z and repeat the same steps above. F seven is fine, I'm not knocking it, just presenting you with another option on how to spell check. -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David. chatten-smith Sent: Thursday, April 22, 2010 11:57 AM To: jaws users group Subject: [JAWS-Users] Short cut key, Office 2007?? Re: [JAWS-Users] internet 8 back to internet 7
Why would you want to go back to Internet Explorer 7? It is so much slower and problematic than 8. Here is how you do it. Go to control panel, and add/remove programs. Scroll all the way down towards the bottom of the list and you will see Windows Internet Explorer 8. Click the add/remove button and you will be able to remove Internet Explorer. You got it installed because of Windows update. Microsoft put Internet Explorer 8 as 1 of the updates. To make sure it doesn't do that again, go get the Internet Explorer 8 blocker tool. However, before you remove it, I'd strongly recommend you check it out first. I think you will like it better than 7. It depends on your system. In some cases, control panel and highlight IE 8 and remove it. In vista, Think you have to go to the update in control panel and remove the update for IE 8. [JAWS-Users] FACEBOOK ISSUES: ACCESSING THE CHAT FEATURE
Justin, The information below may seem tedious but it becomes more natural the more you do it. NOTE: I had to upgrade to I.E. 8 in order to get my chat working again. Ok here it goes. 1.) go to facebook.com. 2.) move down the page to where JAWS says Chat and the number of people on will read after it says chat. 3.) Route to Jaws cursor by pressing jaws key + the minus key on the number pad. 4.) At this point it gets a little tricky you will need to move to I usually go to about the second letter of the word chat and do a left mouse click using the number pad that key is the divide sign). 5.) After pressing the left mouse click you should turn back on pc cursor and scroll down underneath chat it may say loading at this point I usually will press the jaws key and the escape key at the same time this key combination updates the screen usually it works the first time but should it not then try it again. So this is the instructions for opening the chat area. Instructions for getting a chat going: 1.) scroll down with PC cursor activated to the name you want. 2.) Once you are at the name you want press enter on it. 3.) I then will pull up the jaws find using the key combination (control + the letter F) 4.) At this point I will type in the name of the person I am wanting to chat with and repeat this step until I am in the chat screen. You can find this out by each time you find their name scroll down a bit and see if their is additional information on this person such as view profile or close chat window. another option is scroll down underneath the chat list and find the chat window that way. NOTE: I have autoforms turned off using the jaws key and the letter V and scrolling down to where it says auto forms on. I am not sure about this but I believe you then press enter to toggle auto forms off if enter does not do it then try pressing space bar. * * * With auto forms mode off I scroll down into the chat window and listen for it to say edit at that point I can press enter and turn forms mode back on. Once you type your message you then will press enter again to send the message. You can check to see if the message was sent by scrolling through the chat window and looking for your message. Above your message their should be your name or it might say the word me and a time (if the message was sent successfully). Possible Problems: I just recently started encountering this problem but after typing the message and hitting the enter key it just sits there. FIX TO PROBLEM: After hitting enter I then will press the escape key in the upper right hand of the keyboard and usually this fixes it. PROBLEM 2: After sending messages for a while sometimes the messages will not go through. FIX TO PROBLEM: I either have to close the chat window and try reopening it and typing again the message or if that does not work then I completely leave facebook and log back into it. This usually will fix the problem. I hope this information helps and gets you chatting. Should you have problems find me on fb and I will send you a message lawdog...@comcast.net and I will see if we can get you chatting that way. Just listen for a pop sound that alerts you that you have a message on chat. You can also email off list and we will see what we can do to get you chatting. I apologize if this is too elementary for you but I try to be as basic as I can since I am fairly new to jaws and I am not always familiar with the jaws terminology.
