Thanks John, for your kind and helpful response! But just in case, when you locate the Jaws 11 download link on the Freedom web site, yu are given the option to Run or Save. If you choose Save, you can download a file to a pre-determined folder. Then, yu can install the file separately. However, Jaws does give you the option of removing those files which are used by other programsand in that case, you would choose not to uninstall the files. I don't think that Jaws over-writes previous versions when it's installed but what it does do is to turn that earlier version off. It's still there and if you can find the .exe file you can create a shortcut right on your desktop to load either Jaws 10 or Jaws 11. I did that with previous versions anyway because I wasn't sure about the newer version. But I think you have to actively choose to uninstall earlier Jaws versions. Otherwise, they stay in your computer. Re: [JAWS-Users] pdf to word
Zamzar.com will convert them free of charge. It is a file conversion site that converts many different file types, i.e. from one video format to another, from different word processor types, etc. Just upload your file, tell it to convert to .doc format, and give it your email address. I'm awaiting a .pdf document that I asked them to convert. I was surprised to see an mp3 option as one of the choices. The choices you get depend on the format of the original document. You can also click on the internet link to have it convert youtube videos for example. [JAWS-Users] Internet explorer failure help needede.
Good morning, I am using Jaws 9.021 something having not bothered to upgrade for various reasons under Vista. Internet explorer 8. I try to keep up with all the updates. I am having increasing trouble with Internet Explorer vomiting on Web pages. Message after message about a problem with the Web page and offering to close the page. There isn't really an alternative and sometimes I have to go to the Jaws cursor and use the left mouse click to close the page after which I am informed that the tab was recovered. Only occasionally is this successful though, more often we repeat this error three times then IE closes down. Generally speech is lost while IE is struggling so I can't tell what is going on. Rebooting the computer doesn't seem to help. Does anyone know what might be going on? It seems to be getting worse. Thanks for any assistance with this issue. [JAWS-Users] pdf to word doc
actually, most of the time, you can just copy from a pdf to word. I select all, copy with control c then go over to word. If you hit alt e(edit) , then s you'll get the paste special command. there, you can choose the file type. in my version of word the choices are RTF, unformatted text, unformatted unicode text and htm. karen For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Dale, When is the last time you formatted your hard drive and did a fresh install of windows and all your programs? I know for me when I start getting strange behavior like what you describe and many other bothersome issues I just reinstall a fresh image and go from there. If you use a program like Image for windows this process may take 30-40 minutes depending on how large your image is. If you don't use a program like this doing what I suggest could take a weekend, I know I've done it. Re: [JAWS-Users] MP3 splitter?
I think it should be worth noting here that before you go into the cue points dialog box, you'll have to place a cue point at the beginning of the audio file with control+Q, otherwise you'll receive an error when you go to split the file saying that there is no cue point at the beginning of the file. It will then refuse to split the file based on your auto cuing. Also, if you find you get this error message, just get out of the cue points dialog box, do a control+A to go to the beginning of the audio file, and place the cue point at that stage with control+Q. At that point, you can go back into the cue points dialog box, and split the file. Hope this helps. Re: [JAWS-Users] Internet explorer failure help needede.
I would check the add-ons, run spyware, clean out cookies, history, temp files and update flash. A corruption in any of those areas can make IE run like trash. Just because one program is running bad ain't no reason to reformat. Your not finding or getting rid of the problem. Just another wait period until it comes back. However, on my netbook when I set the tab and/or use the Account Management - Login/Register favorites link when I input my login information and hit enter I get the following message: We are sorry but you have reached this page in error. Please try the action again and, if the problem continues contact customer service. Now if I go back to my home page and type in the webpage mlb.com and then click the link register/login which brings me to the MLB's Account Management - Login/Register page I can input my login information and when I hit enter no error message. Re: [JAWS-Users] strange behavior MLB login
Your question doesn't exactly help my issue. (smile)However, I use alt d to highlight the URL then copy to clipboard. Now, go to tools/options and you will here something like to create home tabs type each address on a separate line. I usually go to the bottom of the listed pages in the edit box hit return to create a separate line then paste the URL there. Click apply, ok, and close the browser. When you open the browser again you use ctrl tab to move between the home tabs that you have created. - Original Message - From: Pedro Romero phre...@comcast.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, May 05, 2010 7:45 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] strange behavior MLB login Hi Leonard.
