Ah now that you say autorun.inf file I think that is what I actually pasted

Hi, yep just replace 90 with 10 or 11 and it'll work. The batch file will
need to be on the root of your pen with an autorun.inf file, download the
latest jaws pen drive release to see what i mean, that way you can see the
way they've layed it out. the pen drive will not auto start due to a
limitation of windows, you would have to press enter to launch jaws when
you've given windows a good few seconds to detect it. this is a windows

Hi folks,

Was surfing the net this morning and when I reached a site, I was
immediately locked into the forms box, unable to exit using the arrow
key. When this has happened before, I simply hit Escape, and could again
arrow in and out of the search box. Not today. Today, Jaws said: Virtual
PC cursor (which I have never heard before), and once I hit Escape, that
was it. Jaws refused to read out any content on the site, I could not
refresh the page or reload it, if I tabbed into the address bar and went
to another page, if it had a Search box, same thing happened. How can I
turn off this Virtual PC Cursor? If I shut down Explorer and reopened it,
the same problem occurred. A full reboot seemed to get things back to
normal, until I tried the YahooGroups home page, which immediately
brought back the Virtual PC Cursor issue. I'm using Jaws 11.o.756u, with
it set to allow me to enter text into forms boxes without clicking Enter
to activate forms mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 12 addressing focus issues?

Have any of you trying the Jaws 12, noticed if Jaws now keeps its focus?

I'm really finding Jaws 11 loosing its focus most of the time to be a really
BIG Pain!

[JAWS-Users] Dongles

2010-09-12 Thread Grant Hardy
Hi all,

I own a desktop and a laptop, and occasionally use a family computer
as well. I've had a variety of circumstances this year that have
resulted in my needing quite a few more activations of JAWS than
Freedom Scientific seemed to like: I upgraded some hardware in my
desktop, had some technical troubles with my desktop resulting in my
having to reinstall Windows, found that my locking code changed once
completely at random, and so on. The last time I needed my activations
reset I had to write a letter that got passed on to a supervisor. I
have just gotten a job at my college, and I feel pretty certain that I
won't be able to get another activation reset out of FS for a good few
months. Rather than explaining my views that this activation scheme
punishes legitimate users of JAWS by controlling how many times they
can make changes to their computer systems and continue to use JAWS,
I'll proceed to my question.

I'm thinking maybe a USB dongle would be a better solution. I have a
few questions: what is the approximate cost of a dongle - is it sold
pretty much at cost or is it in the hundreds? And if I purchase a
dongle, can I still continue using the ILM scheme as well and have
both, or will it completely change how I am licensed to use JAWS?

Thanks all for the help!

Grant

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Virtual PC cursor question

Hi folks,

Was surfing the net this morning and when I reached a site, I was
immediately locked into the forms box, unable to exit using the arrow key.
When this has happened before, I simply hit Escape, and could again arrow
in and out of the search box. Not today. Today, Jaws said: Virtual PC
cursor (which I have never heard before), and once I hit Escape, that was
it. Jaws refused to read out any content on the site, I could not refresh
the page or reload it, if I tabbed into the address bar and went to
another page, if it had a Search box, same thing happened. How can I turn
off this Virtual PC Cursor? If I shut down Explorer and reopened it, the
same problem occurred. A full reboot seemed to get things back to normal,
until I tried the YahooGroups home page, which immediately brought back
the Virtual PC Cursor issue. I'm using Jaws 11.o.756u, with it set to
allow me to enter text into forms boxes without clicking Enter to activate
forms mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

2010-09-12 Thread john R. Vaughn
may be that you need to get out of "forms mode" which you do by pressing the
"PC cursor" which I believe is the plus key on the numeric keyboard(second
key down on the upper right hand side of the keyboard) or insert key plus
letter P on the laptop keyboard which I use.

Re: [JAWS-Users] new install jaws 11 reads "blank" when routing jaws topc

2010-09-12 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein
Hi Marsha.

Probably a press on insert+escape is enough.

But when you wrote that it is a brand new laptop, do you then have checked
out the screen settings, so it appears correctly?
Color's 24 bit or best 32 bit, and resolution can be a countless of
setting's, whether your screen is all between 10 and 17 inch'es.
An example can be something like 1160 * 652, or 1680 * 945.

I know there is a fix for this, but I can't remember what it is.
When I route jaws to pc I get no information. It just says
"blank". Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, this is a
brand new laptop.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Voice Settings

2010-09-12 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein
Hi Kerryann.

If you have set up Jaws in normal mode, and not to run from the system tray,
you ought to could use alt+tab to the jaws window, and then the alt key to
get to the menu line, and at the settings point, arrow down to voices and go
to the submenu, and from there do your settings in jaws.

It is not working by the tree view longer, when Jaws is'nt set to run from
the system tray.

No because I wanted another jfw 11 user to try it so I could find out if its
normal or not. Besides, this laptop is on its way to heaven, so I guess it
may be just another part of its death rattle.

 Hi List,

I've been brushing up on my jaws skills lately and I'm slightly
 stumped on
 what I've done wrong.

I'm using jfw version 11.0.1467 and I'm trying to sort out the voice
profiles. When I open them, I don't see the dialogue that I know is
supposed to be there for changing the Synthesizer language. Can anyone
 tell
me what to do to make it reappear? Or am I looking in the wrong place.

 Thanks loads.

 Kerry
