I also have the restart instructions and files for windows mail on my grab bag website (address/link under my name) but be warned some who have installed it have had troubles with major updates like sp1 for windows 7 afterwards (not proved to be because of the windows mail re-invocation but it is suspected) and no windows mail is the mail client provided with windows vista, not windows live mail, that is an entirely different product. also if they haven't been mentioned thunderbird and Eudora (the last supported version) work in windows 7 as well elf . Re: [JAWS-Users] Typing A Checkmark / Square root symbol
Hi Flor Steve; Thank you very much for your help input. This question originated from a need to place a checkmark in a Word document, since the checkmaark / square root are 1 in the same... Yes Flor, in checking the scientific calculator keystrokes for the United States, the keystroke is shift + 2, as you suggested it would be. Thanks again for all the help, take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] modifying your send to sub menu

In Windows 7, the, Send To, appears to work as it does in Windows XP, whereas you can send a file to an e-mail recipient, from within a folder. Windows 7 does not use the familiar Windows AddressBook found in Windows XP, instead it uses a Contacts list, and if you access the list from within the Windows Mail program, you can go to the file menu, and then the actions sub-menu, and send mail. I know it's how it works on my xp computer, but this is for window's 7 and I'm trying to figure out how to send an email from within the address book, and was hoping this would apply for that? September 2011 - 6:34 by v.laurie It's been part of Windows for years and may be old hat to some but the Send To function in the right-click context menu doesn't get the use that it ought to. Also, it has some tricks that most people don't know. A previous tip described a very useful app that adds features to Send To but this time I will give you three little-known tricks that help make this function more powerful without requiring the addition of any program. How to move a file or folder instead of copying it The default action of Send To is to copy a file or folder to the target destination. To change this so that the file is moved instead of copied, hold down the Shift key when you click the desired destination. This works when standard folders are the target destination but the special folder (My) Documents only seems to accept the copy action. The copy or move function is especially useful when you have added folders of your own to the default list of Send To destinations. How to add folders was described in a previous tip and the third tip below gives another method. How to send a shortcut of a file or folder Hold down the keyboard combination Ctrl+Shift and the Send To action becomes the creation of a shortcut in the destination folder. Put SendTo in the Send To menu Adding the SendTo folder itself to the menu provides a quick way to add a shortcut from a desired program or folder to the Send To menu. With the SendTo folder itself as a destination you can do the tongue-twisting operation of sending to Send To. Here is the procedure to set this up in Windows Vista/7: 1. Open the Start menu and enter shell:sendto in the Start search bar (without quotes and with a colon but no spaces). 2. The SendTo folder will open. Note that the folder name is written as one word. 3. Go up one level to the parent Windows folder of SendTo with the keyboard shortcut Alt+Up Arrow. Alternatively, click Windows in the address bar breadcrumb list. 4. Find the folder SendTo in the new window and right-click drag it to the desktop. 5. Choose Create shortcuts here from the context menu to place a shortcut on the desktop. 6. Drag the new shortcut back to the SendTo folder icon in the open window and move it there. 7. Close the window. The procedure for Windows XP is somewhat different: 1.SendTo is a Hidden folder in Windows XP. If necessary, change the settings to make Hidden folders visible as given at this link. 2. Open the Start menu and enter %userprofile% in the Run line (without quotes but with the percent signs). Alternatively, enter sendto in the Run line and go up one level to the parent folder. Then follow steps 4-7 given for Windows Vista/7. Now you will have a quick way to place folders and programs of your choice in the list of target destinations in the Send To function. [JAWS-Users] Control+Alt+J
Hello; I have Jaws 10, Jaws 12, and now Jaws 13 on my XP computer. Jaws 12 is set as the default. I had Control+Alt+J set to launch Jaws 10. I went to the properties of the Jaws 13 desk top icon and assigned Control+Alt+ J as the launch hot key. I unloaded Jaws 12 and pressed Control+Alt+ J. Jaws 10 came up. The properties of the Jaws 13 icon still shows Control+Alt+J as the hot key In the past assigning a key stroke to a newer version would override the old setting. yes. u gotta delete the old hot key first and then set the new hot key for the newer jaws. My experience tells me the precedence is chronological i.e. the earlier hot key supersedes the newer one if they are both identical. Second this has nothing to do with FS at all rather Windows. U can try the same experiment with any 2 other programs on your PC, they don't have to be the same at all, assign the same hot key and you will find that the one u assigned first will supersede the other one.l Prateek -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dave Maynard Sent: Wednesday, September 28, 2011 9:48 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Control+Alt+J Hello; I have Jaws 10, Jaws 12, and now Jaws 13 on my XP computer. [JAWS-Users] JAWS12 not reading text in the 'Outline pane' in MS Powerpoint 2007.
Hello. Using JFW12 most recent version (not JFW13) Windows7 When I used MS powerpoint 2003 I could easily land on the 'Outline pane' also called 'outline tab' of any open powerpoint file I created. I can still do this with JFW12 and powerpoint 2007. However in the 03 version JFW12 would flawlessly read all the text content in the outline pane of a slide set while JFW 12 doesn't read anything in the outline pane in powerpoint 2007. arrowing up or down JFW just keeps on saying 'blank'. A sighted person confirmed al the text on each slide pane is there on the outline pane. Also the outline pane is wide enough on the screen. How can I make JFW12 read and thus allow me to use all the features of the 'outline pane' in Powerpoint 2007?wide Prateek For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

[JAWS-Users] daily information
Daily Tip: Check For Compatibility If you create spreadsheets in Excel 2007, it's important to consider whether your workbooks include any functions or features that won't work when opened by those who use an earlier version of Excel. Fortunately, Excel 2007 allows you to check if a spreadsheet has issues with the .XLS file format. Open the workbook you want to test for compatibility, click the Microsoft Office button, select Prepare, and choose Run Compatibility Checker. At the next window, you can select the Check For Compatibility When Saving Workbook to run the checker each time you save the workbook. The Summary window will list any issues among Excel versions. Daily Term: letter quality Letter quality means the same print quality as a typewriter. But with today's high tech printers, letter quality is significantly better than typewriters used to be, and now it's referred to as resolution. Laser, LED (light-emitting diode), and inkjet printers can all produce 300dpi (dots per inch) to 2,400dpi resolution, which is near photo quality. Even the old, now obsolete daisy wheel printers could produce letter-quality documents. In the old days, you could set the printers to generate letter quality, near letter quality, or draft mode. Using today's terminology, if letter quality is 300dpi, then near letter quality would be about 150dpi, and draft would be about 75dpi. The difference is the number of dots printed per inch on the page. More dots per inch mean a darker, more solid image. There is a new letter quality category of printing today called enhanced quality or enhanced resolution, which is controlled by the software. Printer manufacturers use this technique to sell printers with a true resolution of 600dpi as 1,200dpi machines because they can enhance the printer's output to 1,200dpi with software manipulation. Basically, the program tells the laser to place a fatter dot of ink onto a smaller grid, which overflows and bleeds together with the other dots to create the illusion of a higher resolution. If you are looking for letter-quality resolution today, almost every printer out there qualifies. Re: [JAWS-Users] How to move through bundled messages in outlook 2010
Hello Diane, If you are in an open message, you can move into the body of the next message by using CTRL+Shift+period. Using CTRL+Shift+comma will move from the open message into the body of the previous message in the list of messages. If you are in the first message in a list and try to move back a message by using CTRL+Shift+comma, the open message will close and focus will be on the top message in the list. You can also move to the next message and previous message by using CTRL+period or CTRL+comma respectively, but JAWS seems to stay quiet after using those keystrokes even though focus moves. If by bundled messages you are referring to messages grouped by conversation or otherwise grouped, you expand the group using right arrow key and use down arrow to the messages in the group. You collapse a group by using left arrow key. Take care.
