Some times it is just a labor of love or something, I often don't know.
Never the less the purpose to this message is to inform you folks of a new
heading I am adding to the page called Shortcuts. Rick has started compiling
a list of icons to drop you in to various places on your system quickly
without plowing a field as it often feels like to me at least.

Presently it is not a long list but with time and possibly some other folks
contributing it might just grow in to a large collection of command line
arguments. I'll have it posted probably by 8:00 this evening.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Top Line of Active Window, keystroke

2012-02-27 Thread MWB
Hi Joni, Chris , & Mike,

Well, I finally got Jaws to read the window status. I did this by changing
to the Windows Classic View. Thank you SeƱor Ferrin for the advice. To
change to Windows Classic do the following;
1. While on the desktop press the F5 key to make sure that nothing is
selected.
2. Press the applications key, arrow down to Personalize & press enter or,
after pressing the applications key, press the letter R.
3. You will now be in the Themes Gallery. here the different themes are in
columns. To find the Windows Classic Theme, arrow down to Windows7 Basic, &
right arrow 1 time to Windows Classic & press enter. This should put in the
Windows Classic view.

Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Hi Joni,

While in email, when I invoke the Insert + 1 / End keystroke, Jaws reports,
" Inbox Windows Mail ." While in Notepad, Jaws reports " Untitled Notepad
." On the Internet, Jaws reports " Google, Windows Internet Explorer ."
Nothing is being reported as far as the active window status. I've played
with screen resolution & I con sizes but, nothing has helped. I am not sure
what settings to change or where to look to get Jaws to read the rest of the
window. In short, I don't know if this is a Jaws issue or a Windows7 issue
or, both! Thank you for your reply. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF why some work and some don't?

2012-02-27 Thread Ann Marie Medlar

Hi Chris and all,
This file is not too important. Honestly, I am presently in Daytona Beach,
FL and joined a rowing club. I go sculling on Halifax River weather
permitting and trying to get adaptive rowing going for blind; I have only
been doing it for about 3 weeks. I competed in Melbourne in adaptive visual
impaired class.
I bought a concept 2 rowing machine and I downloaded ErgChatter software,
loaded on W7 laptop, and connect using USB cable. This solution works but
very clumsy so trying to get audio directly from rowing machine monitor.
But I will tackle this challenge in future.
The file is a PDF on rowing site and I believe it is old maybe created in
1998 or so when river club was created.
My goal is to get information from whomever in any easy accessible way. I
do this one file, one site at a time when it presents itself in my life. So
Chris I'll send you the file.

David I look forward to your audio. Thanks to all for feedback.

Hi Anne.
If you go into Jaws Help and the list of help topics, Convenient
OCR is about the sixth item down in the list.
The feature is pretty easy to use though. Press JawsKey+Space, then
the letter O for OCR. Press question mark at that point for a help

I cleaned up my PC awhile ago and deleted Adobe reader but downloaded it again

I saved as text document in OpenBook and it is somewhat intelligent.

Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF why some work and some don't?

2012-02-27 Thread Ann Marie Medlar
I really appreciate everyone's input on this subject. Does anyone know how
to use the new Jaws OCR? I cannot remember the command and wondering if
someone could explain how it might work?
I cleaned up my PC awhile ago and deleted Adobe reader but downloaded it
again and still empty doc. So then I tried to save as text document and
still empty.

I saved as text document in OpenBook and it is somewhat intelligent.
Thanks,
Ann

If you have, or can upgrade to Kurzweil 1000, its latest two versions
does this conversion well, even from opening the pdf file with Kurzweil
via the applications menu from within windows explorer's list view.
Just note that it will use your default OCR settings, which may perhaps
not be applicable to the particular document, but you can change it,
using one of the other longer methods.

If you can supply Kurzweil Educational systems with proof of a validly
purchased version of openbook,
years ago my openbook serial number and specific version was sufficient
proof, you can upgrade and switch to Kurzweil for something like $150.

You'll never look back again, no pun intended.

Regards,

Riana

unfortunately that only works for smaller items

I have several 250 + page pdf's I need converted, there books that I
have
both the actual book and a .pdf for, but its scan's and my systems choke
on
trying to run openbook on them

thanks for the resource though

Let me remind list members that for those graphical PDF documents, you

can

easily e-mail them as an attachment to conv...@robobraille.org. You

will

get back a text attachment of the document in readable form. If you

send

to
that address and put doc in the subject line, the attached document

will

be
in word format. You can also unload the PdF to www.robobraille.org

and

have
it converted that way.

Dean

Hi all,
Sometimes I can press application key on PDF and I enter on
open with Adobe
x and the file reads fine. Other times it states empty
document or
something like that.
So my question is
Is there a formatting issue that could be implemented on PDF
file so that
when one opens it the PDF reads fine with Adobe4x reader?
I am on a web site and there is a PDF. When I open it
states empty doc.
I download it, scan with OpenBook and doc is mostly
readable. I would love
to instruct this web master to get PDF in accessible format
but haven't a
clue what to say.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Ann

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook

2012-02-27 Thread David
Hello there;

Try the following;
I'm assuming your using outlook2010,

While in outlook2010,

1, alt+f,

2, down arrow to open press enter,

3, down arrow to import press enter.

4, press enter on import from another program or file,

5, now you need to select;
Comma Separated Values (Windows)
Press enter.

Now your being asked what file to import,
You want cSV
You can also browse for the file location,
Then next;
You need to choose,
Contacts,
And eventually you will get to the finish button.
Hope this helps, if you need more help just shout.

Delete your cookies and temp files when ever having a problem with
web sites. They are to easy to corrupt.
